Pretty ridiculous earlier today I had 12seconds of revealed from multiple rangers spamming this crap. Needless to say, melted in less than a second.

You can’t even target against D/P users, why add it? It hurts the good builds who rarely rely on stealth. This is a mistake anet. You should have given a passive pet signet that lets pets attack thieves in stealth, not any revealed skill.

I think many thieves realize that ranger is a weak class, but you shouldn’t nerf another class as a “buff” to rangers. You should buff rangers and leave the other classes alone. All this is doing is fixing one problem by adding another.

As a ranger , it’s good to see thief tears in regards to ranger , it only took 1 year to accomplish.

On a side note, the reveal doesn’t stack so if you actually let them chain Sic em on you and anticipated it, then I’m sorry to say this, but you’re really bad and need to learn anticipation on the game. The issue really doesn’t really apply to the rangers themselves, you need to know they can do that now and anticipate it and play smart. Finally, you have to play smart against a ranger now, shocking , I know.

And how exactly do I dodge something that cannot be dodged? Anticipation does nothing against a skill with 2000 range, is instant, and cannot be dodged, as compared to the many thieves skills which are obvious when being used and can be dodged to deny stealth. When there are multiple rangers spamming revealed there’s nothing you can do except run, but with 1500 LB range and 2000 Shout range you won’t accomplish much.

If a Ranger is shouting that on you at 2000 range then you aren’t in harm’s way. 2000 meters is plenty of space to escape or wait FOUR SECONDS until revealed wears off. Unblockable or not, this skill has a hefty cooldown, and you have to be targeted for Reveal to take effect. If he does use it on you, you have four seconds to dodge roll, use evade skills, or put some distance between you and his pet before he can put the hurt on you. You aren’t absolutely defenseless with the Revealed debuff on you by any means anyways. It is a Ranger only ability, so if you see a Ranger in a group or solo, you should have to proceed with caution. You shouldn’t be able to fight every class the same way without consideration to their class or builds.

As for those zealots complaining about a counter to a class mechanic: stealth isn’t a class mechanic; Steal and Initiative are class mechanics. Saying it is a class mechanic because you get a stealth attack is like saying Stun is a Warrior-only mechanic because of Unsuspecting Foe. Your whole trait line becomes useless for 4 seconds? Do you think you are the only victim of this? What about Elementalists who aren’t in the proper attunement? What about Warriors who spec’d into the Tactics line who aren’t rezzing someone? Your whole profession isn’t useless for 4 seconds; stop acting like you’re defenseless and worthless for 4 whole seconds.

Rangers can now set up a small window to burst Thieves. Most of their ranged attacks do nothing to a thief once they stealth and they now have an opportunity to burst them in a critical moment or call them out for their coordinated teammates. If you think being vulnerable to a coordinated team is unfair to you as a Thief, I really don’t know what to tell you.

… but that doesn’t change the fact that this new stealth counter wont really make a difference.

Who cares. /shrug

it does and my group and i love it. in the past thiefs were always our last target in a group fight. now the dmg burst monsters are our first and they always go down in our first engage.

It will also prevent shadow refuge (or mass invisibility) from being used to save downed team mates, it will make downed 3 for thieves and the mesmer downed invisibility and it`s clone totally useless, the implications are far more severe than any of the previous posts indicate.

There is the actual value of this change. Stealth was the only sure stomp save in the game. It had no counter play. Really I don’t think it is that big a deal, because if you are a Ranger what are you giving up for “Sic em’”? Probably a spirit. While having a counter play for stealth is valuable the spirits are the crutch that make most ranger builds viable right now, and on the whole I think that the spirits actually carry more value.

There are multiple counters to stealth as a “stomp save” already in the game (like AoE knockbacks).

I do not really want to complain about Sic’em in my previous post, as this might actually help rangers who REALLY need love in group fights (and I say this a somome who plays next to olny thieves). But this change introduces a mechanic with a lot of inpact and I wanted to stressthat nobody seeems to get the full implications.

I do think about not saving rangers with my shadow refuge anymore in wvw form time to time, just to make a statement you know…
