warrior steal nerf, here we come

Eh… maybe I’m not sure how to use it properly, but I really don’t like the warrior steal at all.

Too long of a cast time which leaves a squishy thief vulnerable, not to mention it blends yourself on Retal.

My fav steals are probably the Thief Steal, followed closely by the Guardian and Mesmer steals.

This kind of dedication to other players, makes me feel warm and at home. I am just so happy.

Glad you found a lot of what I showed you helpful. I’m sure some of the other really good thieves could give you a completely different perspective on how the class can be used to it’s max potential, like Reikou. I just appreciate that you were so eager to improve your thief gameplay and learned so quickly.

Also the warrior steal is slightly out of context. While it’s an amazing steal in group fights you have to be wary of retal etc, but I was talking about 1v1 match-ups at the time. Wars have little access to retal in small scale fights and the stolen skill can reflect projectiles, which, if timed appropriately, can hard-counter longbow if they’re using it.

Other than that it’s also good for using in blindfields for AOE blinds at considerable range if you use it in a smoke field for the whirl finisher.

Personally I think the necro 3s steal is the best for what I do. Not only does it set you up perfectly for steal-BP-Fear-HS-BS, but if they’re low you can save it for the second they get downed: BP-Fear-Stomp, to prevent the team res.

Actually I find it depends on who youre fighting really, thieves, then blinding tuft is best since it usually comes down to who stealths longest, guardains, mace head crack locks them from using life saving skills, mesmer is just good all around, elementalist keeps them slow and DRAMATICALLY lengthens CD on their skills and attunements, throw gunk is meh, the warrior steal is cool because if you set them up with your Black Powder, then you can safely use the axe while they are swinging about hitting nothing. The ranger steal is great team support as it heals a bit and cleanses conditions, which in this current meta, is a necessity. The necro fear is good as well, I use it to give me the time needed to finalize a kill on a necro of take that time to strip them out of death shroud

Immobilize/stun a warrior and use the axe~ you generally give them a taste of their own OP medicine by nuking them for around 10-20k with it.

Warrior is the worst steal other than Engineer or Ele, and at least those you can instantly get rid of.

Mesmer, Thief, and Guardian steals are easily the best. Mesmer gives you all boons including stability, thief is a free stealth, and guardian is a FIVE SECOND daze. Ranger is basically a full heal + 10s or more of regen + condi removal, necro is a 2 or 3 second fear. Those are infinitely more useful.

The best tactic is to steal some items for later use. For example, steal an axe from a warrior and fight a shortbow ranger with it. This will deal like 20k damage to them if they are stupid. Ectoplasm from mesmer will give enourmous advantage against a stun warrior, skull fear against a thief… and list goes on.

If someone tries to tank the full channel from a crit-thief, they’ll need to soak-up 15-20k+ damage. I have yet to see anyone attempt that and survive (well, aside from immunities). If it’s not coming from a crit-thief, however, then it’s probably negligible.

Warrior steal isn’t the best steal, but it’s okay nonetheless. Best steal for me is either ranger’s (combined with heartseeker) or necro’s fear.

Also.. can I learn some thieving? Just started my sPvP practice with Thief yesterday and not too sure who to hit up about tips/info. Running with Arganthium’s Condition-Meta Countering Build to learn the ropes and I’ve been having so much freakin’ fun!

Arganthium is a very good S/D thief who can explain a lot. His build is a bit different than the meta S/D so it’s a good perspective to see from. Top thieves that come to mind are:

D/P: Jumper X (inactive), Caed (active but probably busy), Cruuk, reikou, Nettle, Kinjax (he mains S/D now though), Silent Sol. There are more but this is off the top of my head.

S/D: Jumper X, Caed (his main is D/P though), Magic Toker, Kinjax, Arganthium. I honestly don’t know/recall many S/D active anymore on the NA side. For lessons/training Kinjax and Arganthium are your best bets.

hahahaha. You said OP build. Unfortunately thieves are most good for killing nubs these days. Most others have learned the counters.
