[Video]P/P thief in spvp
You don’t have Ricochet in a sPvP build.
It’s like a must if you even think about playing a P/P in sPvP. Idk why you would besides just messing around in the first place though.
So, carry on.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah I considered it for range effectiveness and multi targeting, however, sole purpose of this build is to burst down single target so I kinda avoided it and went for 5,6,0,3,0 build with eagle runes, I’m so impressed to see the new IP trait rework. Works great for me :-)
I’m playing similat build on hotjoins time to time. Exept it 6/6/2
I think P/P is a bit underrated. A tiny, tiny bit. Only because it counters the usual Thief counters in the form if blind melee AoE.
Using this in a spvp
a lot of fun

oh nice!! ample amount of initiative sources. This one surely looks interesting, I’m gonna give it a go next :-) ty!
Great stuff! However, I would probably take Shadow Step over Signet of Agility. Gotta have that stun-break. I run 60206 for P/P in sPvP. Panic Strike and Sleight of hand are so strong.
This always made me chuckle. Surprisingly more effective at holding points than one would think :P

OMG! This looks fun, gotta try it next :P
P/P is only “good” agains D/D ele and NGs.
Sure if you can get the first hit on any zerker he is in trouble, but he would be nomatter what specc you play..
You should also try to play with smokescreen, this is imho. underrated when playing P/P.
or like this
.
omg gross!! made me lol
Do not overlook Sundering strikes in a p/p build. There a great difference in the number of stacks one can put on even with a one second cooldown which that sigil of strength has.
Just for some perspective while this from WvW/pve the same would apply in Pvp.
Sundering means 100 more power in the build. It lasts 6 seconds but has no ICD and hits at a rate of 50 percent. Sigil of strength lasts 10 seconds on a hit adding 30 power per stack meaning one needs at least three stacks to make up for that person who selected sundering strikes. It on a cooldown of 1 second.
That cooldown is significant. In game terms you can get on between 3 and 4 times more stacks of vulnerability then of might. If your unloads can stack 4 might by chaining them (4 unloads) they can also stack 16 stacks vulnerability (16 percent more incoming damage). Yes it can be cleansed but I have found a lot of people will not clear this condition and since p/p can build the stacks so quickly (again you need a high crit rate) more often then not those stacks will be there.
Now throw the Might procs from the sigil of strength on top of those 16 vulnerabilty stacks and you have a huge increase in damage output meaning more health from IP.
The question of course becomes what to give up for that sundering strikes

Yeah that’s the problem! Lol I was gonna take that trait but shadow’s embrace seems more legit :| I took the sigil that applies that vul tho doesn’t have any cool down plus you don’t need to crit in order to proc it.

I am pretty sure the sigil has a 2 second cooldown. That is huge.
I was just playing around and went 2/6/0/3/3
I wanted that extra ini for another unload. I did not take sigil of strength but took the FOOD (again this wvw) that increases condition duration 40 percent and steals life on crit. I can easily get 16 plus stacks of vulnerability.
I do not know why you take shadows embrace in a p/p build since you have few hides.
Now I do great until i meet condi builds and shadowstep just does not cut it. Rather then go Shados embrace I am thinking of taking genoristy/purity/cleansing in some iteration. I can also take Prayer to Kormir and or the Lyssa runes. I am just trying to see which works best.

Oh yeah haha thx for the correction, it’s still just 2s without crit tho. That’s why I took s/d or d/p off hand for stealth or evades instead of short bow(never liked the damage) unless if I’m in spvp then yeah I might switch around a little overall conditions will always eat you alive if you’re not careful:/ easily especially with all the meta builds the chances are great if you’re talking about bumping into a terrormancer.
>>Oh yeah haha thx for the correction, it’s still just 2s without crit tho.
But the crit is immaterial here. On a 2 second cooldown you can only get one of these per unload no matter the crit rate. Even on regular attacks with that cooldown a crit rate of 100 percent or 50 or 0 percent can only give one per 2 seconds. That means chaining 5 unloads can at most get you 5 stacks.
Now contrast that with the trait. no cooldown. Assuming with fury a 100 percent crit rate 4 of the 8 shots from an unload will give stacks. Now even if the crit rate was only 50 percent on average 2 of those stacks will come per unload.
You can get a theoretical maximum of 25 stacks with 5 unloads. Mathematically speaking with a high crit rate you will have between 3 and 4 per unload.

Good points! I did have Sundering strikes though in the build I used in my video. Additionally, sigil of vulnerability could be used along with strength to increase the damage, however, I was using sigils of accuracy+air. Thing is, there are a lot of good variations available so we can choose whatever we think works best for us, I keep changing my traits for p/p as well.

How is the build I shared with you? O.o did it work well for you?
>>How is the build I shared with you? O.o did it work well for you?
I have been using my own build for some time now. I was p/p even at 8 percent return on IP. I do not Pvp so my own build is more Wvw oriented. I just find WvW more fun as you encounter so much more in the way of variety in builds and group makeup.
I WILL change my build on the fly as in WvW you can go hours without seeing condi builds roaming or, if in a group can drastically change tactics and the build dependent on group size and composition. As example I can be much more glassy if in a group made up of a half dozen or so wherein guardians and warriors make up a part of it and I engage at distance while remaining unnoticed. (as example in group fights i drop 1 trait in acrobatics and take ricochet in trickery)
I have also found the need for a bit more toughness in the build. Currently I am using eagle runes though that has changed with frequency. The three most successful builds to this point have been Eagle, Vampirism and quire suprisingly Adventurer. The latter has much better survivalbility.
I carry a number of pistols with different sigils. Generally i have an energy on each.
This my build currently.
But it changes. That cactus fruit salad actually is a 66 percent steal life on crit chance one second cooldown. The duration portion of it allows me to stack up more vulnerability on the target. It also works nicely on the bleeds from the a/a (not a lot of damage there but every little bit helps) and the weakness /cripple from the s/d set. The extension on poison helps as well.
Vampirism set would give more power overall without a drastic drop in crit rate along with added life steals. Adventurer more dodges and more damage from bleeds. Eagle is most suited to when I roam in a small group or even busting zergs. Adventurer worked best in 1v1 as you can dodge so many more of those big attacks KNOWING you are the target of the same. Vampirism is a bit of both but that mist form can be a help and a hinderance.
I know a lot of this does not apply to PvP and your flexibility in gear choice more limited.

It’s amazing !! I did give it a try, I never ran out of initiarives which is good for our unload spam, I did however made some tweaks.

Good to hear XD I’m going to get on it once I’m done with my finals
