Yea, the work really well with all the “get out of jail free” cards available and allow you to over-extend a bit more without really being punished. It also adds to your burst a bit on engage with the vamp-rune lifesteal proc.
It’s hard to say no to the group fury uptime of pack runes + thrill of the crime, though.
I didn’t ever need the “get out of jail for free” card that the Rune of Vampirism gives before some top tier teams started using it.
I personally (still) use the Rune of the Pack for both 2/6/0/0/6 and 6/0/2/0/6.
Maybe the vampirism is more desired in certain matchups where you know you’ll be pulling focus a lot, I don’t ever really run into those situations in casual (un)ranked PvP though.
But yeah, the Panic Strike build (D/P & SB with 6/0/2/0/6) and a Vampirism or Pack rune seems to be the current D/P meta for sPvP. Rune depends on your preference and playstyle.

Players at a skill level where Last Refuge is considered a problem are not going to be using Vamp runes.

That’s because the mist form and last refuge will proc at the same time.
This means that you’re not half as likely to reveal yourself because when you’re in mist form, you can’t attack.
It’s not a perfect solution , but it works I guess…

If you mean that good players won’t use Vampirism, you’re mistaken basically all top thieves run Vampirism (Renna, Chozen, Sizer, Sindrener, just to name a few).
If you mean that “bad” players won’t use Vampirism, you’re mistaken as well, because I see many average thieves that run Vampirism (and gets carried by it).
People that are “up to date” with the game will use Vampirism. Pack is a viable alternative, but Vampirism is just ridiculous as of now.

They just changed that, didn’t they? Unless I misunderstood the patch notes, Last Refuge will no longer proc with the runes.
try out 20606 with D/P. i really love that one. survivability is awesome. you can even play around 1v2 and hold point. not being a paper in pvp is really great. and you still can do awesome damage. enuff with those paper builds. on this build u’ll really help out your teammates and still gonna be able to put some good pressure on someone.
PS. thats the only build that i manage to go 1v2 with alot of confidence. like today happened. 1v2’d Ranger and Warrior like a baws. gl enjoyin that one :P this build has to become meta imo ^^

I have not heard anyone “up to date” complain about Last Refuge in some time; it’s a very strong trait with a ‘drawback’ that matters less and less as people get better at the game.
Yes, Vampirism is quite strong; more escapes are more better.
Really, I must try out Vamp runes. This makes sense, but Pack seems better to me ATM.
