level class A, play Class A real bad win with Class A and find it hard to loose with class A while being really bad player.

from people in gw2? ‘’i cant see it it is OP’’

from people in general? ‘’i cannot beat class A,B,C, OP!’’ meantime – people are routinely beating and having very good fights.

Being able to irritate two or more people with a single character is the definition of op. Two people should never have a problem with one person regardless of build and assuming equal skill levels.

For the most: DMG Numbers, nothing else.

Survivability, base hp, traits, skills, deff, armor, numbers of max target per weapon, CD’s or inicosts; all of this will ignored.

able to kill any other class in a 1v1 with ease would easily make your class known as being OP to the other classes.

All is vain.

Overpowered is a single build that is vastly superior to other class builds in most situations, usually because they are too good at too many things.

Ex. Warriors in PvE

Archonicable – Thief
0/6/6/0/6 – D/D + D/P
Crystal Desert

About 5% of players… every game.

Anytime it is expressed “need X for Y”, then either X is overpowered or the one stating such is bad.

Soloing level appropriate group content, grouping level appropriate raid content.

idk why 1 v 1 is always brought up. overpowered basically means that in an instance where most classes would perform like X ….this class performs well above that and with relative ease. There is little drawback to playing such and anyone without any skill can play such. its not just numbers or 1 v 1. if u look at it….necro/guardian is OP in group / zerging but underpowered in 1 v 1. same with thieves. used to be OP in dueling but waaay underpowered in groups.

well being op in group/zerging doesn’t really get you more bags while op in 1v1 allows you to roam around without worry. i know thieves don’t really worry about this, but how would you feel if you knew that you would always lose to X, Y,and Z classes in a 1v1 and can’t even run from them? The compensation would be that you offer more to your groups but you don’t get more bags?

All is vain.

When the skill and effort put in less than the result.

  • If you put in a ton of skill and get a ton of result, it’s balanced.
  • If you put in little skill and get little result, it’s balanced.
  • If you put in a ton of skill and get little result, it’s underpowered.
  • If you put in little skill and get a ton of result, it’s overpowered.

If given two players of high skill, when there is a tactic that has no appropriate response from the other player and as such results in that tactic winning every time, the tactic is OP.

As a corollary, if the only appropriate (non-losing) responses are so niche or require such a high investment that they are deeply punishing for the responding player to carry, the tactic is still OP.

The trick here is that a ‘tactic’ is more than just a skill: it involves the opportunity costs of taking and using that skill effectively, as well as the time a skill may be on cooldown. Probably other things too, but I can’t think of them all just yet.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

You realize, every class in the game is capable of that, right? You’re way oversimplifying.

To answer the main question, overpowered is when the effectiveness of a skill or tactic is doesn’t match the level of skill required to employ it. It is a rather abstract concept, and can easily be mixed up with strong newbie tactics. The difference is the newbie strat usually has a counter that becomes glaringly obvious to experienced players.

What’s the definition of overpowered?

1.when your 29 (yourself included) guys team beat the 30 guys opposing team
this is OP
2. when you solo with your lvl 80 full ascended thief and kill 3 lvl 10 noobs in wvw (1 vs 3 omg !)
3. when the whiners come to thief forum and complain about OP, they mean he/she got wasted in 1 vs 1 in wvw

Hard to give a definition…since all it means is too powerful, but as an example I’d say

If one guy can kill two others of equal skill with ease then it would be OP. I don’t think the thief class is “OP” simply because against 2 skills players who know what they are doing, it’s near impossible to kill. Can pug stomp 1v3 pugs all day though
