Why no long range?
id like to see the range on unload be made to 1200 with a damage debuff based on distance to give some way to tag from range when defending a keep.
What are your thoughts on the thief’s range options now?
Give us ranger sb #1 speed an we are fine.^^
They don’t want thieves pole-positioning at 1200 while also spamming high mobility skills and stealth.
The shorter range is the tradeoff you get for stealth. You can easily close distances or create distances. A skilled thief would be able to keep a player at 1200 range indefinitely with that weapon through various dodges and rolls that comes with the class. This is unfair to any class that doesn’t have a viable 1200 range weapon, since it makes thieves impossible to fight against otherwise.
Something is wrong with the range on thieves. Standing from exactly the same place, attacking a stationary monster, my pistol could not reach it, but my shortbow could (autoattacks). Are we sure they’re both 900?
It was in the Jade Maw near the head of the creature, my pistol could not reach the first veteran tentacle even from the edge of the platform, but my shortbow was having no problems from the rear of the platform. Something is amiss. Maybe range increases for shortbow if the enemy is lower than you?
Either way, your ability (as a thief) to pop in and out of combat should mitigate the loss of that 300 range unless we’re talking zerg v zerg, in which case a thief was probably a bad choice to begin with.

we don’t deserve to be treated like other classes
we are a dirt class that needs to be nerfed into oblivion
remember that

The mobility point makes sense, not sure I agree with the stealth thing, as I do not run stealth very often, so it would seem unfair to punish those who do not use it. I do see your point about the mobility though. But, a lot of professions have very high mobility and the thief is not much better than them at the moment, yet they still get 1200 range.
The point you raise about mobility does highlight the issue with shortbow having 1200 range, as like you say the thief could keep an enemy at that range a lot easier due to the evade backwards and shadow step, but I see no reason why pistol cannot be a 1200 range weapon. The shadow step on PD needs melee range to use and cripple can be bypassed by multiple means. And PP has no gap creators whatsoever.
Adding 1200 range to some pistols skills would go some way to improve the set imo. What do you think?
Because Thief, in combat mechanics, deep-in-the-mud situations, initiative. If you want to be a shadow sniper assassin you’re in the wrong game.
