Actually, the changes have also caused a problem for condi-thieves, since now in shadow arts there’s only one trait left for conditions, which is Leeching Venoms (for health steal and reduced Venom cool down).
If I want to have a conditions thief, Deadly Arts & Daredevil are the obvious way to go for two lines, but condition traits are split between Shadow Arts & Trickery now. Never understood why venom traits were moved to Shadow Arts to begin with, to be honest.
They have [Revealed Training] in deadly arts, which would make much more sense in Shadow Arts, and vice versa for [Leeching Venoms]. A swap would make making a condi thief easier.
A lot of thief lines are now designed to be both pro-condi and pro-power.
A note: I consider a weapon set to be condi or power focused based on its primary stealth attack and “3” attack.
P/D benefits greatly from SA because the stealth attack on that set deals the bulk of the damage. This is unlike D/D where the power creep of auto-attack and nerfs to backstab rendered D/D stealth less prominent.
I’d argue P/P benefits as well because Stealth on Steal increases the overall number of attacks a person can use, in combination with regular Unloads.
I’d argue that, if you rely on stealth attacks to do damage, you should use the Shadow Arts line.
This update messed up my SA/DA thief pretty bad. Simple fix: swap Leeching Venoms with Revealed Training. . . why are those traits in the lines they are in anyway? Sacrificing stealth steal for faster venom recharge makes no sense.
Condi thief is on life support after the Perplexity nerf. I really do not see how to make it work efficiently now. Venoms are pretty goodin skirmish with the right crew but might as well bring a Mesmer that has better group synergy.

That would at least make sense. Or even allow auto-attacks for 1 second between Stealth Attacks.
I don’t think we are forced to do anything. I agree with the idea of switching revealed training and leeching venoms, because that just makes sense at this point, my snowflake build being affected aside. (Seriously, everyone has to adjust builds when patches are made, that’s just how it works.)
Venomshare baseline is a huge boost to build diversity. You can now do some group damage buffing without being forced to take Shadow Arts (which you might still take for leeching venoms, but that’s up to you). The condi from the venoms is a dps increase for the entire group, and more condi stacking on the enemy. I can’t see how this is ever a bad thing.

Good luck. A thief has to give up most of their defensive sustain to go Venom which puts them in a vulnerable spot. Only two of the venoms apply damaging conditions and none in multiple stacks per attack. Add on that both Torment and Poison do nothing to help cover condition removal. If they had a confusion or flame venom, now that could add up to something more workable.

Impaling lotus applies bleed torment and cripple. That plenty of cover. You also have easy access to Weakness. . Skale venom also adds Vulnerability which is another cover condtion.
Multiple stacks per attack are in fact applied from Death blossom, sneak attack or a PP unload. Your dodge does not use INI at all and can apply venoms. If you trait bounding one stack of those stored if you trait impaling with venoms loaded a single dodge can load cripple vulnerability weakness poison bleed and torment.
Traiting uncatchable and preload of skale venom and spider venom with Lotus training you will get….
3 poison stacks 4 torment stacks 2 bleed stacks multiple cripples 3 vulnerability weakness (if traiting DA) with a single dodge not even using a weapon or INI. Thats burst.
If he cleanses dependent on weapons you can then followup with steal for 5 confusion and still have 1 more torment and 3 more poison to load on your next weapon attack.
Followup with DB and there another 3 bleeds. A head shot there 3 torment. A sneak attack there 5 bleeds.
