Countdown to throwing the towel for warriors
With a lot less damage, and Guardians doing more damage, adding more CC, better team support. Why bring a War over guardian?

Not only does it prevent the conditions and damage, but it lets you completely mitigate them for a long period and helps your allies. Not to mention a much much lower cool-down.
Guardians recieved no nerfs in-fact they recieved damage buffs!

I don’t really see the point in comparing Guardians to Warriors so much. Guardians do not have nearly the movement you can achieve with a Warrior. Yes you can certainly feel when a Guardian is there they have a very strong presence. However I don’t think increasing a Warriors heal or giving them access to certain boons that they can’t currently access will seal a unique spot on teams for them. Not ONLY those things. I think these unconfirmed changes are steps toward that unique role.
Btw there are ranged weapons in the game if you need to get off the leg specialist crutch so bad you think the class is worthless without it.

The upcoming patch is the last chance im giving Anet to rework PvP balance, not just specifically to Warriors, but other classes too.
If they screw up this time, I’ll be shelving my Warrior.

I was watching that very stream. Some weapons very much need CC to deal damage and to me Sword felt like one of them. There wasn’t much going for it other than condition damage and getting across the map*. That cripple is not a small addition I don’t think it will feel like that while playing and the way they’ve adjusted Final Thrust makes me think sword is going to feel a lot better.
The damage changes make sense to me because there will be a lot more swiftness and mobility thrown around, with the addition of condition cleansing outside of utility skills/runes.

Seems pretty standard balancing for Anet. There is already another post (not sure if it is joking but…) basically calling the Warriors a buff bot. Which is actually, at this point, highly accurate. Who else in the game can give 180 to a certain stat for the entire team? Pretty big considering that is around 8% critical chance. The Warrior might have to give up his utilities for this but the vast majority of Warrior utilities are useless anyway. What Warrior uses stomp in a dungeon (and is serious?). Kick? Bulls Charge? Bolas? The Warrior class is a joke at this point.
I have given up on wishing/hoping for Anet to fix the Warrior class. After almost 9 months of dedicating myself to a class, I am forced to re roll because of horrible balance. I just regret sinking all of my money into my Warrior. Would have been better off throwing him 10g for gears or whatever and having a main Guardian. Which is what I plan to play now.
The moment i saw the “leaked” patch notes i started leveling a warrior…mainly because of those points:
- leg specialist = immobilize on sword auto-attack.
- insane confusion output in CC-builds.
- multiple cleanses every 8s ontop of immunity against cripple/immobilize/chill.
- both Burst Mastery and Destruction of the Empowered enabling HUGE burst builds.
- still the best mobility in the game.
- all heal skills improved.
Warriors really start to shine in group battles of ~4+ people since it’s just impossible to ress someone if you are getting 3k+ auto-attacks + insane bursts.
Warrior is one of if not the best class to play in WvW zerging and roaming right now and i have seen good warriors absolutely crushing good duellers of every other class.

Healing Signet is horrible, pretty much recieved no change.
Healing Surge makes no sense still, has a huge penalty.

I can tell you that i would give my Ether Fest for Mending any time. It heals for the same (base) amount, will have the same cd after patch and provides cleanses which is something mesmers are lacking right now.
Healing signet is about on par with thieves Signet of Malice, which is ok i think. Also, it got a really low cd when traited and can be abused for triggering “on heal”-rune effects.
Healing Surge with full adrenaline is simply the highest value heal in the game with a lower cd than Signet of Resolve.

Shaving off 5 seconds to the heal skills is huge. Hell, 3 seconds can be an eternity sometimes when fights are going down, so being able to use mending on a 20 sec CD or healing surge on 25 will make quality of life so much better for warriors overall. I can definitely see healing signet being used as a means of a consistent burst heal when traited. As for all the other supposed changes coming for warrior I think it’s best to reserved all the angsty, dramatic posts until after the real patch notes go live. All y’all need to just relax in the meantime.

Healing Signet is a horrible active healing ability. The reason is it has the longest cool-down of any heal in the game with a ridiculous animation anyone can see for miles. It was meant to have a long cool-down (30-40 seconds.) to be used in case of an emergency and a powerful passive heal. Currently it heals for about 5 times less then Signet of Malice, which is getting a 33% healing increase in its passive

Try a greatsword / Sword&Focus build with a couple of Meditation skills and “Save yourselfs” or “Retreat”, and stop your none sense about guardian having no mobility, if you want to build around mobility with a Guardian it is totaly possible. The only hik comes from the fact Guardian needs a target to move around, wich isn’t a problem in WvW with all ennemies NPCs lurking around.

Oh Daecollo, your rants and bad ideas will never cease. Stay classy bro. You keep thinking a 12 sec specced 3-4k heal is bad. Personally I’m excited for healing surge being on a 25 sec cooldown, but I may give healing signet a go since it’ll be on a 15 sec CD untraited.

I actually use both bull’s charge and stomp in dungeons (pugging), although I could probably ditch bull’s charge for something else. Stomp can be fairly useful, especially if you’re tanking and need to CC all the mobs on you for a moment. Can also help position them in corners, although you have to line it up properly. It’s also another blast finisher that’s god for teams that use them. I use merciless hammer so it also synergizes with that.
Kick is still one I just haven’t been able to justify yet, and bolas just isn’t necessary in PvE since mobs will happily stand still for you by default.
Where is the damage nerf?
I’m not sure exactly what they’re referring to. I think it might have something to do with the berserker power and heightened focus traits both being bumped up to grandmaster tier in the unofficial patch notes. This would cause some builds that utilize them in the adept tier to not have access to them anymore. For instance, a greatsword-focused build would easily take heightened focus since it’s only a 10 point investment in discipline and then they can use their other 60 trait points in strength and arms. However, if the unofficial patch notes are true, they won’t be able to take this in that tier anymore, and the damage of those builds will drop as a result.
Oddly enough, this change (if true) would actually make my build much better. So it’s not true that all warrior damage is being diminished as a result of these two possible trait changes, it mostly just relates to the ones that were 10-point dippers.

I once tested with a power sword build in tpvp.
I used Soldier’s amulet and tweaked with traits, runes and the jewel to get high power, crit chance and crit damage. Thanks to blademaster (+10% crit chance with warrior), right near Attack of opportunity, getting a lot of bonus with sword was really easy (I could get around 80% crit chance, 40% crit damage).
Only problem was that sword didn’t have any way to spike: all I could do was auto-attacking, nice against glass cannons, less against other enemies.
I think it was extremely good in group fights, but I found myself a bit lacking if I had to fight an elementalist or a guardian (bunker ones).
I want to see how Hamstring and Final Thrust will turn out: they might have given me just that thing that I felt was missing.
Instead of Berserker’s Power, I’ll use Desperate Power. AND I will finally be able to use DotE. Yeah. Bunkers, beware.xD

Sigh..let me sum up your reply:
-You play fotm classes, mesmer/guardian/thief..you will be shocked to realize the warrior class won’t carry you end game against players who know how to use/abuse their class.
-You don’t even play a lvl 80 war
-You think that WvW and duels in WvW with bad players is a measure of a class? You do realize the stat difference between a spvp amulet and a full set of gear+asc gear+Oil+25 stacks from bag weapons+40% condition reduction food does not accurately reflect spvp and thus the actual state of the warrior?
WvW is filled with bad players. I’ve dropped so many thieves/mesmers in WvW only to have them join the group and say..how’d you kill us? your a warrior..
I don’t have the heart to tell them that your bad players and your class just didn’t carry you enough, I guess
Best Mobility?
Not the best mobility in the game. You have to use Sword/warhorn and this puts you at a disadvantage against stealth bursting classes such as thief/mesmer. Mobility is useless against a guardian except to run away to get your heal back and run back. The best mobility in the game IN COMBAT with VALID weapons/builds that address all situations and not in specific duels against specific classes would belong to thieves and mesmers. Stealth is the Ultimate broken OP mechanic in the game along with instant teleports. Thieves and mesmers have access to both and both stun break and bypass immobilize even though in the new patch the stun break is removed they can still teleport while stunned but stay stunned which is the same thing

If you think healing is what matters to survivability then I dunno what to say..Stealth, teleports, Invulnerability to damage/cc (guardians and mesmers, 10sec cool down on mesmers) Aegis/Protection, high regen/protection battery class(ele), tons of dodges and toughness (rangers) is what gives you survivability. Heals are just sugar coating

Funnily enough, I rarely ran with the adrenal bank traits. I usually have 1 or the other but not both. I honestly don’t have a problem dropping them completely.
Desperate power looks like a really great trait now and if you build for over 25k HP, it’d be childs play staying at 13k or below HP for an extra 20% damage. For an adept trait, that’s pretty nice especially for a defensive build with vitality.
Sword is also going to be a nice weapon. Main Hand gets a nice #3 and the auto gets some cripple + the leap cripple. Paired with Leg Specialist (even with the ICD) makes Sword quite beastly at cornering foes. For offhand, Impale/Rip was always a decent combo but now with Riposte basically being a Shield Stance on half the recharge by default you can more easily press into battle with it.
Shield Master as an adept trait is also a good change so little investment there.
Looks like the off-hands were improved indirectly (and Axe/Sword directly) so you got decent choices either lots of Weakness with Warhorn, Sword or Shield for blocks, Axe has more damage (bleh) and mace has your interrupts if you build for it.

What you’re saying is very, very optimistic however it’s also incorrect. Warriors are not even close to being one of the best classes in WvW roaming and they’re pretty crap in dueling, far behind engineers, thieves, necromancers, mesmers and elementals. PvP is pretty simple and it’s all about killing someone within a certain time frame during which you have a set amount of skills to keep you alive such as invulnerability skills, blocking, dodging, heals, invis and so forth. Once you run out of those, you’ll die pretty fast. Other professions are able to manage those skills that keep them alive for a longer period and since they’re on shorter CDs they can go forever. I’ve personally played a thief, elementalist and engineer after quitting my warrior and you can really last forever while killing people if you play it right.
On a warrior you just have long CDs for just about everything and you have to use them pretty fast to stay alive within the first 20-30 seconds of a fight and then you’re pretty much screwed until the CDs reset. The upcoming changes are a step forward in the right direction and I’m really looking forward to it. Personally I love the idea of playing a warrior and every couple of months I come back on it and try to make something work and after a day or two I just go back to my other professions disappointed.

Well, there is a difference between a bunker and having high armor and hp.
As a bunker, you are aiming to stay up forever. With high armor and hp, you are only aiming to stay up long enough to down the enemy. That’s why you have to pair it with pressure. You are not gonna hold a point on your own. But you can stay in the middle of the fight much longer. For instance, thanks to this I could down another warrior by just outlasting him.
And the difference is: if you go Berserker, you won’t live enough to enjoy Desperate Power’s bonus. If you have higher HP and armor, maybe you will. I’m just saying I hope this will be enough to gain advantage from desperate power.
Never said I’m sure I would be able to reliably down a bunker. I’ll try.
AND DotE will still help me deal more damage against guys under protection. +12% is better than nothing, right?

A guildie of mine uses the trait to destroy bunkers. I’ll upload the video soon, but unfortunately I can’t share builds.

Sorry to disprove you, but Halting Strike in it’s current state deals about 200-300 dmg and therefore could as well not exist at all.
/edit (Wall of Text inc): And to those complaining about the classes i play: My first main was the guardian which i mostly played in zergs and shelfed after several months because of how boring it was to mostly fight using auto-attacks. I rarely ever played the thief because i just can’t get warm with the class but it helped me a lot in understanding how the class works and how to fight against them. Afterwards i started my mesmer using a condition-shatter build until it got nerfed and switched to shatter (fyi: the “op” mesmer builds are phantasm builds. I sometimes use them but they really lack the mobility and group-support to be useful in WvW roaming).

Not really sure what everyone is complaining about.
I’ve been a solo roamer in WvW on my war for a long time and R35 in spvp. nothing to brag about, but I literally have no issue with most classes, builds, whatever and I’m pretty close to pure zerk with axe/shield and GS. 10/20/0/10/30. I beat the classes people complain about here all the time, eles, thieves, mesmers whatever, sure it’s harder, and I have to really focus, can’t just facemash the keyboard like most other classes 4tehwinz, but hey, I manage.
Everyone always talks about sustain, sustain, sustain. Warrs imo in every other mmo I played aren’t supposed to just eat ridiculous amounts of damage and be able to deal the same, it’s all give and take.
The one thing we do excel at, which may change after patch, idk, is high mobility, putting pressure on people, and insane amounts of damage, it’s insanely easy to control your opponents when you’re making them panic.
Good players will always adapt, and idc if the rest of you fade away. Maybe it’s a L2P issue. I record often, if anyone disputes it I don’t mind posting videos of myself in 1vx situations.

Where is the damage nerf?
Berserker’s might + Heightened Focus moved to grandmaster trait, and only given a small damage/crit chance increase. In reality it means you go for one or the other, not both without gimping yourself.
Also axe autoattack got damage nerf, why? No one in their right mind is going to stand still for 4 seconds and let you get your entire autoattack combo in, and 90% of the time you’ll need to break your chain to get close to them again. They changed axe autoattack’s last hit to deal the most damage and nerfed the rest of the chain.
I thought warriors would be severely underpowered after this patch, but ArenaNet took the time to give us more option of condition removal than most any class has. I’m really not worried about torment, and from what I’ve heard the radius of the necro’s torment ability is only 300 and to boot it’s only while they’re in death shroud. Just immobilize them and you should be fine, plus to duration isn’t supposed to be terribly long. I know that ArenaNet loves warriors. We all know it, and they aren’t going to make us obsolete any time soon, at least not until GW2:Nightfall comes out and dervishes replace warriors in exactly the same ways as GW1
I can definitely see healing signet being used as a means of a consistent burst heal when traited. .
Healing signet is about on par with thieves Signet of Malice..

No, Signet of Malice is better in every single way.
Healing Signet is a horrible active healing ability. The reason is it has the longest cool-down of any heal in the game with a ridiculous animation anyone can see for miles. It was meant to have a long cool-down (30-40 seconds.) to be used in case of an emergency and a powerful passive heal. Currently it heals for about 5 times less then Signet of Malice, which is getting a 33% healing increase in its passive
I won’t say anything bad if your new to the warrior class, so I will refrain from saying anything bad, I just want you to learn why its bad. Just look at the picture below
Mending should of been brought down to a 15 second healing ability.
Healing Surge should have its Stage Requirement Removed, and heal for a lot plus give 30 adrenaline. With a 20 second cool-down.
Healing Signet should of had its cool-down increased to say 30 seconds, with an 8k heal and a 450min-600max passive heal with a 0.2*Healing Modifier.

As far as Healing Signet change, don’t think of it as a 12sec small heal with a horrible cast time. Think of it as only 12sec before you get its passive effect back. Still hoping they improve the healing power scale of it though.
And people really need to get a life and some perspective. By the sound of some of your posts, you act like your civil rights were violated or something. Geeze…

If its interrupted during cast, you get neither the HPS nore the Heal. Trust me, with the way it is. You will get Interrupted.

I generally run Sword/Horn + Longbow and 2 banners, for great justice, and war banner (AoE perma-regen). I can’t say I saw much in the patch notes that affects my build negatively.

They wouldn’t nerf a professions simply because they’re popular in dungeon speed running. And you’ll still see the same posts after the patch, even if the patch notes are accurate.
Although I suppose it’s possible they didn’t like the 43 second Lupi kill, but that only has to do so much with warriors.
