The builds I’m talking about are built with the main purpose of running away. They do have Berserker Stance, and they have no problem holding onto two of their utility skills until they’re needed (especially when one is a signet that passively reduces damage taken by 10%). No one ever claimed that they’re great damage dealers.

Then they’re nothing to worry about, are they? If they don’t deal much damage, they can’t win fights, and they hang onto their utility skills in case they need to bail, then they aren’t going to nab your camps on their own and you apparently don’t care about the loot bags, so…..

I play all 8 classes, and all of them move somewhat fast except my mesmer. None of them (even my own warrior, because I prefer to run a reasonable build) can catch cowardly warriors…. I’m more concerned about the state of the game than the occasional chance at getting something worth 5 silver.

I don’t buy it, and I’d be surprised if anyone else does. You say yourself that you’ve consciously decided to build for a different purpose, and it more seems you’re bothered that people aren’t sticking around to watch you flex in all your glory.

Sorry, I regularly chase down runners on my own warrior, and only a few give me a long chase and even fewer get away. I’ve had other opponents get away, but it’s never anything I wanted to cry about.

See, you’ve got no point here and your “concern” is unwarranted. If you’re playing wvw, then you’ve chased the warrior away from whatever he was trying to do. That, presumably, protected your ppt and pushed him elsewhere. If you had killed him, he’d have respawned and popped up somewhere else. There’s no difference except you didn’t get some cheap loot bag you say you aren’t interested in.

If you’re just looking for fights, there’s a whole different area of the game for you. A magical place where warriors can’t run away so easily, and the whole point is to kill your enemies….

If you had perfect engage/disengage then you would only fight when you can win. 100% of the fights would be wins or draw for you.

Anyone you fought would never win.

But you do realize you’re wrong since the ability to win 100% of your fights REGARDLESS of who they are against is better.

First of all you don’t get a “draw” and second of all you don’t get to have to choose your engagements since you can just win them all.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

There seems to be confusion over what a “draw” is.

When dueling certain elementalist builds on my warr, fights sometimes go on so long that we both agree to stop fighting.

someone actively retreating from you is saying “I admit defeat, but not giving you a bag.”

Thieves do it all the time.

Actively requesting that Warriors should not be able to retreat so rapidly from a fight, with the fact that they are perpetually visible and that their WVW performance outside of silly roaming 1v1s will suffer immensely, is actually quite selfish to request now that I think about it. Especially with the majority of their resistance to snares and cc coming from the food they eat and runes they use which are non inherent features to the class.

That + only guardians have an abysmally low chance of catching = why is this a thing?

It isnt about “distance they can cover is broken”. It is “distance they can cover is incredibly effective in this one situation where I am playing the game 1v1 even though the map is geared for large scale fights, and because of that I cannot kill them.”

GS escapes will rarely work in 1v2s, 1vX, PVP, or any other type of battle scenario where there is more attention to cc.

Just to put this out there, Greatsword is one of the only mobile weapon sets a warrior has apart from sword, which is complete poop for power sets; and mobility is extremely important in both WvW (especially roaming) and PvP. I’d like you to learn about a class before you complain about a class next time.

I just read the previous posts and all but I don’t really see the point, actually. Playing a warrior myself, I agree on saying that GS based builds are among the ones that provide the most mobility but why all the whine about it ?

I mean honestly, in a sPvP perspective, since the update mobility is pretty much all GS has to offer…
Besides, who are you kidding ? I don’t understand why someone would suddenly complain about GS warriors when almost every other classes can disengage almost as easily (if not more easily for some) as them : thieves (obviously), rangers with GS, sword, lightning reflexes, stealth, eles (duh!)… Even mesmers have their blink and stealth and engineers have their rocket boots, rifle and stealth combos.

So much for the OP GS Warrior Amazingly Over the top Mobility…

You aren’t thinking it through.

With Perfect Disengage the player would simply leave the fight. Both players survive meaning a draw.

With Perfect Engage the player would never let the fight start.

I think that we need to make a list of things for noobs to nerf.

1. Take away our armor.
2. Take away our weapons.
3. 10k per tick bleed to us.
4. Take away our 2k per second regen (Heh Thief forum anyone?)
5. Put a Com tag on all Warriors so noobs can see us on the enemy team.

Am I missing something?

Only a fool would stick around to be killed far better to disengage and distract another person. A retreat and a stomp aren’t much different except a crappy bag. You need to get over it or think of it as a compliment " I’m going to lose, forget waypointing I’m going to run".
I say this as a mesmer with barely anyway to stop a runaway warrior……..except maybe to not give him the option and finish it first time around.

has a GS
has a Sword
swaps to either of these two weapons

The drawback to warriors is that everything they do is incredibly obvious. If you can do nothing to stop an incredibly obvious tell, then you might need to learn those tells better and play with knowledge of how to surmount those tells in mind.

Even if a warr is stacking melandru and has had a poultry dinner, they are far from immune from cc. you just need to interrupt their movement skills and you can pick them off.

Yeah Warriors have some pretty good movement abilities and easy access to stability, so they can be really hard to pin down. There are a certain breed of cowardly Warriors that use Greatsword / Sword Warhorn/Shield and then they set up their traits to make sure they have “mobile strikes” “dogged march” and “forceful great sword”. Those are nearly impossible to catch once they start to turn tail and run. The reason you’re getting so much backlash on the forums is because you just insulted half the board by calling their main a coward. They spent all the time farming for their legendary GS, or money buying it and all they do is run away while pretending to be BA. All you can really do is laugh at them as they run. Let them go be useless somewhere else in WvW.

In reply to that and any other potty mouth nonsense in between this post and my own about warriors mobility being unfair, Warriors need to spec this way to catch every other F ’ ing class, I am constantly frustrated by engi and ele classes in particular that have perma vigor and speed and just leg it as soon as there Burst misses or fails to down you in seconds, Unless Im using a GS, which in s/tpvp I dont though I can certainly understand those who do.

lol op is mad. GS is garbage in spvp. So easy to avoid 100b, but it’s mobility is amazing. Camp axe shield, get some nice damage off then gtfo with the GS when the kitten hits the fan.

I am a warrior that likes to roam solo yolo allot. And I must say, You have runners all over the place. It’s not about the character, but about the coward behind the character.
I always laugh when they try to escape. Mostly they are thiefs though

With so many condi/bunker builds outthere our heavy armour cant do jackkitten about that, so yeah I run away when I notice I cant get the damage output I want on a early stage on those players while my hp are draining in lightspeed due to massive condi, and yes im using melandru runes and food to even get more cond reduction time.
