Minimum armor for dps warrior?
Last I read was 2800 armor
You don’t need armor, the base armor is enough. If you die, learn to dodge. With toughness, you will ALWAYS sacrifice your DPS
Whatever base is, and then far lower.

A friend of mine did some extensive testing. I have no idea how he did it, but according to him, he said that around 2200 armor, that is already 50% mitigation.
Can anybody else confirm this?
are we tlaking about pve or wvw

Your friend is wrong. The amount of mitigation 2200 armour gives would vary.
The formula for direct dmg is (according to wiki):
Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
As we can see any difference in your opponents power or the use of a different skill would necessitate a different armour value in order to mitigate the same % of damage.
Interestingly there’s an RNG element to it as well as weapon strength used in the formula is randomly generated from the range of your weapon’s strength. So even if power and armour is the same there’ll still be slight variation in how much your armour mitigates dmg.
For pve/dungeons, base armor is more than enough.

Ah I see, this makes much more sense. Thanks for clearing this up.
And thanks everybody for the input.
If you are playing wvw then 2700 is ideal for a DPS warrior.
3000 armor is how much most DPS warriors from Zerg busting guilds run

Base armor is fine, just be sure to use berserker stance and stability. There’s no need for defense stats in a burst build. And these days condi specs are so powerful that if you lack damage they will eat you alive. So pop stability and berserker stance and laugh at those pathetic condi noobs.

if your having trouble deciding I recommend going Solider (or Trooper as its called now)
Power, tough, vit. Play that for a while and decide how good you are at staying alive.
If your always near your max HP and rarely go below 50% then maybe throw it a few DPS aimed pieces depending on what you feel is lacking like ferocity or precision.
If your having issues handling conditions and keep getting to many maybe you’ll choice to invest some toughness into extra Vitality.
Other option is go straight berserker and decide from there if you need to cut back a little and invest a little more into defensive stats till your comfortable.
Depends on the build, really. The usual skullcrack build has enough toughness to ignore direct damage while melandru and lemongrass food ignores conditions. Burst builds are so far into damage that, if theyre good, most players will be dead before the glassiness becomes apparent. This is even more true if youre running stances like Endure, Berserker, and Defiant.
If you got gold and time, start higher into toughness and gradually tweak til youre comfortable. I went from 3000 to 2700 while boosting attack power.
