I play rifle warrior in pvp and aside from some of the bad kitten sniper rifle skins such as plated or whispering, this weapon is definitely imo the perfect ranged weapon. I go glass cannon on all my toons, and when Im on my warrior, nothing pleases me more than hitting a squishy for 9-11k volley and then a 10-15k kill shot. I really love seeing targets try to run and watch as my kill shot follows them right before I release the shot, then boom, dead.

Ive had multiple flamings, other warriors flaming me because they think rifle warrior either sucks or is op. I literally had other warriors refuse to tourny with a rifle warrior in their group, which worked out since we won gold. I had a warrior laugh at my rifle in a spvp match and call me bad before I proceded to kill/camp him at his spawn with my lol weakittentle rifle until he decided that he didnt make the best decision and left the server. I had another player, this time a ranger do the same until I camped him and he started crying how rifle glass cannon is as bad as heartseeker.

Not boasting, just showing appreciation for this weapon, I love it, I hope others love it. I generally manage to hit bunkers for about 12k with volley+ kill shot every 10 secs, and squishies for about 20-25k, feel free to show vids/pics, or just a general love for this weapon. It is imo the best ranged weapon in this game by far. If any1 wants advice you can pm me ingame, toon named Ben Mercer, Ill gladly help ya enjoy the weapon if you like.

I played Sword/Axe and Longbow all the way to 80, but recently switched out the Longbow for a Rifle. I looooove it. I miss the AoE of the Longbow, as well as the burns, but the single-target power of the Rifle is awesome.

Also, I’m going to talk about something that I find doesn’t get enough attention: the aestheic. The aestheic is just … rawrawrawr I LOVE IT. XD

The sounds the Rifle makes are so appealing to me, especially Kill Shot which echoes in the distance. The unsheathe sound is great. The way the Rifle looks in general (at least the Krytan skin I use) is really cool. The way my Sylvari warrior holds the Rifle when out of combat/not firing just looks cool. I love the animations my character makes on idle when my Rifle is out.

I love WvW, and I feel like a Commander (though I’m not) when I use a Rifle. I have no idea why, but the Rifle alone gave me the push I needed to actually lead a party in WvW. We were in Fort Aspenwood borderlands, and as Maguumans, we had nothing captured. I led a 4-man party to capture Bluebriar, and 2 other players came along as well. Unfortunately, a group of FA came through the gate as soon as we got it down. We got SO CLOSE to taking it. I literally couldn’t see the Lord’s HP bar. If we had 2 more people, we could’ve had it. ;~; Now I reeeeeally want to start leading in WvW.

The point of that story: THE RIFLE HAS SPECIAL POWERS! Do not underestimate it! XD

Rifle = Love

What I love about rifle is 1500 range on Killshot and the ability to hit all lines up foes.
In WvW I aim it to hit 4-5 people in a line and I halve their health.

In any serious PvP though, people will dodge or even strafe Killshot, and dodge most of your Volley.
Other skills suck so you’re going to be eaten against any half-decent player.

I must record it next time i activate reflect missile traited shield block and watch rifle warriors kill themselves with a crit killshot.

But if you enjoy it have fun. I see quite alot of very bad rifle warriors out there and honestly they’re the most easy to deal with warrior spec.

Yea, I think it really depends on the situation. My opinion:
sPvP = Decent
PvE = Good
WvW = Amazing

In WvW, there are so many people attacking at once, most of the time you don’t even notice where the shots are coming from. Also, barely anybody will know that they’re about to get hit with a Kill Shot.

I pretty much have to agree with this. I run rifle / GS in PvE and WvWvW because it gives me the versatility I need (and movement is a huge part of that, GS is just the best mobility weapon when traited to remove immobilizes) to keep rollin’.

However I would say the power of rifle goes like the poster I quoted with one addendum:

TPvP = Crap
SPvP = Decent
PvE = Good
WvWvW = Amazing

I have never, EVER been threatened by a rifle warrior in a tourney, and I have never on any pug team lost to any team that had a rifle warrior in a tourney. They’re just… lol in that pvp environment (though warriors in general are pretty meh in tourney’s period). Rifle war has 2 abilities worth a kitten and surprisingly enough everyone has 2 dodges on demand before any traits/vigor bonuses. Hmmm, seems like an easy counter.

That is a misconception, rifle can excell at tpvp, and no not just against bads or pugs. Ive domianted some matches with it with proper positioning. If a person dodges kill shot and volley so what, any skill can be dodged, Ive had people attempt to dodge kill shot right after a volley only to mistime it because i popped frenzy. Most people who play rifle warrior suck, so I can understand why it seems like the weapon sucks but I can assure you that if played right, rifle can be 1 of the nastiest weapons a warrior has. Im all for showing if needed, Im on dragonsbane sever, as mentioned above name is Ben mercer. Come fight me, its good times.

While rifle isnt amazing 1v1, its great in groups, when no1 focuses on me at all I slaughter people back to back, when they do focus me my team slaughters them since I hide and come out for a quick volley and hide.

Probably power/crit, since only the basic attack benefits from condition damage. If you’re going condition, use the bow, it has more of it.

If the rifle is going to get nerfed, then nothing is safe from the nerfbat, so we shouldn’t get used to anything..

My problem with the rifle is that it feels so useless in sieges. Can’t hit most targets on the walls at all and firing from the walls requires exposing you for a prolonged time = dead warrior.

On open ground it’s of course golden, but for sieges I’d rather have my range-enchanced longbow spec.

I like rifle #2, #5, and kill shot. I think warriors are a bit too reliant on Volley and Kill shot for DPS. Once the volley hits it’s time to dodge. Kill shot takes too long to shoot. Of course popping frenzy remedies both issues but that’s only once every 60 seconds. Frenzy+Kill Shot+Volley=Great ranged burst.

Rifle is amazing at 1200 range. But it doesn’t take long for melee to close that gap and to be a lot more effective. Great for groups if you want to sit back, not so much 1v1. It would probably be more helpful for the group as a whole to do a bunch of knockdowns with hammer or something. But hey, that’s what weapon swap and fast hands are for.

I really love rifle #5 for smacking foes off of high points.

5 is really unrated. I use my sword’s leap to get in front of players, switch to rifle, and bash them back into our zerg.

2v1, get near a cliff, bash 1 player off, 1v1.

Been leveling my alt warrior time to time and get kitten crappy melee combat in game. Just buyed yellow gun and kitten gun is much better in pve/WvWvW.

Warriors are already the tankiest class in game with ranged damage comparable to rangers and you want rifle to have longer range? Just pray that warriors don’t get hit with nerfs, because they deserve them more than most of the other classes getting nerfed.

I am 15/30/0/0/25 and the damage is nowhere near as good as my rangers.

might be becouse i use knigts armor with berserker trinkets/weapons, but i feel kind of squishy running full berserker and using my greatsword

I’d like it to make sense. It’s a kittening rifle. It’s an explosion pushing a chunk of metal out of a rifled barrel at extreme speed, it should go farther than an arrow.

Bows have more range than early guns, which are what these are. Its a fact and not assumption, would I like more range? kitten skippy, would it make sense to have the same range as a longbow? Not at all. But it does feel like the gun has 1000 range instead of 1200, maybe thats because Im used to rangers 1500 range.

Rifle burst is amazing, and its auto attack stacks bleeds like nobodies business, atm mine tick for 69, and when I auto attack squishies I crit them for 1300-1400 + 10 stacks of bleeds ticking at 69 a pop which is the average of how many stacks I keep on a target, thats about 690 damage per sec + 1300 soo 2k damage per shot, in between the 10 sec cd of 11k volleys and 14k kill shots. Thats good stuff. Perfect sniper imo.

Warrior’s are collectively viewed by the top tier players in TPvP to be one of the worst classes currently. Also we don’t even make the list of “tanky” classes. Bunkers belong to Guards, Eles, Necros and Engineers actually.

Why play ranger? Warriors are better at rangers at ranged damage.

Warrior Rifle > Ranger SB
Kill Shot lets you finish off targets, where as our pets cannot even hit someone who is moving due to their painfully slow animations.

Warrior Rifle is currently the strongest ranged weapon in the game by leagues.

Really? I own with rifle in sPVP. Yeah i only use it as a secondary weapon, but that’s the beauty of it. If the enemy tries to get close i get my greatsword out and do my 100b burst on them (not bull charge + frenzy, i use might emblems + bolas).

Use your Kill Shot or Hundred Blades against me and it will be extremely painful… for you.

Builds made with the above, always work for linking.. I personally like guild head much better than the rest. (probably other skills calls out there, these are the ones I see/use the most)

I go back and forth between rifle/LB myself. Just trying to figure my build so I can have ranged and melee without having to change much. I don’t want to use GS as the melee weapon, thinking maybe dual Axe.

But.. going back to my first point, I never see any Rifle/LB builds linked. Just people saying they use Rifle/LB and like it.

25k burst isnt hard against light armored cannons. I said burst now, not 25k in 1 shot. I Hit a necro for 11k volley and a 14k kill shot, I hit a mesmer for 15k kill shot, didnt get the volley off because he died, I hit a thief for a 11-12k volley, he died, I hit a warrior for 13k kill shot outside of frenzy. I can get 10k kill shots easy, it usually follows a 9k volley, but when the truly squishy players come along like my thief, I can get 25k burst quite easily. Id be more than glad to post the build if people are interested.

Ah, another misconception, rifle warrior can do 1v1, just not as well as other classes or builds. Its not a 1v1 build but its quite capable of doing it. I actually just got done dueling a warrior who requested it, he was a good player using the fotm 100b evisc build and I won 80% of our duels because I outplayed him, Admitedly alot of my kills came from sweet revenge, but without that it was closer to 50/50 instead of 80/20.

For those interested my warriors name is Ben Mercer, or my I will be on thief named Simon Fischer, you can pm me if your curious to see my build in action or just to ask questions.

I wont post the trait numbers because Im lazy but I use a 10 strenght 30 arms and 30 discipline build with zerker/zerker glass cannon setup, sigil of fire on rifle, GS secondary, runes of divinity on armor. Utility skills are berserkers stance, on my mark, frenzy with the elite as signet of rage. For those about to flame me because Im a glass cannon and die when a sneeze comes my way, think again. In duels my survivabiliy comes from good play, in spvp and tpvp it comes from good play + positioning, I dont go for mid ranged fights, I find a snipers position and do work. If it comes to a team fight, I generally rack up about 5 kills before people start to notice me, and another 3 before people get to me, then I move to a different spot or lead the 2-3 people they send to kill me around in a circle and waste their time or attempt to kill them.

Im more than willing to lead by example so if any1 would like me to demonstrate the carnage this build can do we can go to our own server and duel a few times, or you can stand there and let me smack you, idc.

I like the rifle quite a bit. I play GS / Rifle (cuz I’m unique) and basically when a champ or some event happens I start with the rifle and see if whatever i’m fighting is melee do-able. A good number of times it isn’t more or less so I’m content to do ranged DPS / rez.

It’s kinda funny so see a max height norn standing there with the smallest rifle I could find. But it’s all good.

Warrior rifle hits for ~20K with 2 abilities(combined)….nerf ranger shortbows…gg.

So…. when the so called “worst” tpvp class peeks in on the 2nd worst tpvp class it’s the appearance of billionaires? Somehow I don’t feel the gap is quite that high tbh. I have a necro (Yes, I paid to buy character slots in order to have 1 of each class) and other than the BUGS I feel that the necro has a far more solid role and purpose for a team in tpvp than a warrior does.

In fact, it’s only the bugs that make the necro weak at all. Even with them we can bunker with the best of them, or completely wreck groups of people when roaming. Also on my necro as a condimancer I can tear apart those bunker guardians like they’re level 2 mobs. Yeah, many things are pretty buggy and I still haven’t “l2DS” yet, but the utility and versatility is there for a solid team spot.

The same can’t really be said about warriors atm. They haven’t been touched and apparently are at the peak they’ll ever be, which is pretty friggin’ weak with no hope in sight. At least with necros the only place to go is up as patches come out to fix them.

Eh too defensive for my liking. For great justice is nice but I prefere on my mark, an instant 10% damage with no range and obstruction issue. I already posted my build, had several pms from people saying how much they liked it and even had some people request some duels to see it in action, thanks for the fun fellas, its good to see the community helping each other out. I know alot of warriors would scoff at you if you asked them for help with rifle warrior since most GS warriors think its a joke.

Just perfect your favorite build and unless you are a ranger anything should be viable. Sorry rangers However high toughness high attack melee/shortbow rangers are still quite viable as skirmishers and roamers, but thats about it. Makes me sad too.

Um, no. Not even close. Tourney viability is very very limited actually, and for warriors is almost non-existent currently.

For instance: Sword/shield + Longbow warrior in tourney? Not viable. Period.

Someone who knows how to dodge can cancel out the major damage of a rifle warrior, it’s good for killing noobs but not much else.

I switched talents into full defence and tactics for things like longbow range and shields and play the rifle along with the longbow.

Put it the shouts traited for heals and i can get 12stacks of might with signet + FGJ + burst longbow+arcing blow.

Almost full zerkers armor with the tougness from talents + additional life from tactics + additional life from arms trait (power into vitality).

Nice dps/survival ranged setup and i enjoy it.

yeah… cause in WvWvW, when you are fighting player A… and Rifle Warrior B off screen fires off Kill Shot. you saw him right?

if you are talking 1v1 you have a point, but even then it can be done. in WvWvW… or even SPvP 1v1 almost never happens. So we can pick our target and pick you off before you even know where the kill shot was coming from.
You dodge that Guardian you are fighting, and since you didn’t see me come around the corner, and I saw you dodge twice and have no endurance left… I fire Kill Shot and drop you.

Yesterday, while playing with my friend rifle warrior, I went against a GS warrior. I manage to drop Him to about 1/4 of his Hp bar, he try to run away, I immobile him and used #2 before hitting kill shot . Hit him for like 7k and he was downed. I was amazed… kitten lvl 21 warrior hitting for 7k… That is crazy.
