Shield Stance Buff?
I´d rather they reduced the cooldown.
To block two more seconds would be nice,
but in my opinion Warriors should primarily hit instead
of getting hit.
Shield Stance with a lower cooldown would enable
warriors to use it more often, when they need it,
instead of blocking for a longer time, without dealing damage.
As far as I am concerned, it´s used to block key attacks of
hard hitting npcs(npc-groups) and bosses or damage dealers in PvP.
I hardly feel the need to have a 5 seconds long block for PvE
and in PvP people would stop attacking after the first
or second attack, unless they have unblockable attacks.
A lower cooldown to mitigate damage more often would
benefit the warrior much more.

I like both ideas, but the second idea
would enable warriors to double shield bash,
which could be a little too much.
A channeling skill which reduces the cooldown
if not used for the entire time sounds great, though.
It would promote smart use of the skill.
Stuns don’t stack, double shield back would deal less damage then Auto attacks.

They may not stack if used closley after each other,
but you could hit them with one shieldbash, attack with another
attack and then shieldbash them another time by canceling your suggested
“shield block”.

We can do that already with hammer, however after the first stun they could dodge the next or use a stun-break.
The animation for Shield bash has always been easy to avoid, but you could also make the buff last 8 seconds instead of 10, or 7 seconds, even 5.

33% more defense (effective HP) for 20% damage loss on > 50% uptime … and that is without understanding if “Protection: 8s” to be affected by Boon Duration or with the Shield talent 20% cooldown reduction talent (which together would mean perma-protection uptime) for a “turn on/turn off” 20% damage loss …

Boons can be stripped and removed. If it is the -20% de-buff is still attached to you. However I changed it to grant 1s of protection every second it was up. This means the Warrior needs at least 50% Boon Duration to get more out of it.

I agree with this.
Besides all the good ideas here, wouldn’t it make sense if damage done in the direction of the shield, that everything behind the shield (player + allies) get protected as well?

I don’t like this. With some boon duration stuffs, you could easily get this to give out permanent protection.

Don’t like this either. Why do I need to put my Shield Stance on cooldown if I wanna use Shield Bash?
I like the current abilities and honestly I think they’re fine as it is. The only stuns in the game that have a cooldown lower than 25s are all Warrior bursts. The ones with 25s cooldown are Hilt Bash, Shocking Aura and Magic Bullet. Out of those, only Magic Bullet has 2s stun, the other two are 1s.
As for Shield Stance, it’s already giving out a 10% damage reduction in combat, bumped up to 20% with the trait.
The shield is a weapon that is awesome if you use it right. Use it wrong and it’s not that great.

Toughness has horrible diminishing returns.

Also, you gotta stop referencing the damage reduction numbers from GW2BuildCraft, as those are not actual damage reduction numbers.
