Shields
The general consensus was the following:
stun: initiates either a low-grade direct heal, a short regen, or knocks an opponent back/down as well as stunning for 1 second
block: removes 1 condition for each second of blocking
Shield Bash: I’d like a longer duration (up to 1.5 sec) to make landing Final Thrust/Eviscerate a tad easier, but aside from that I wouldn’t change it. Shield doesn’t need a heal/regen, and knocking back in addition to a stun doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. The existing Leap finisher is your “something extra”.
Shield Stance: I don’t have issue with this. A 3 sec Block is a long time. It’s half the CD of Endure Pain and only 1 sec duration less, minus the stun break. So all around a solid ability. I’d take condi removal/sec on block via trait, but not base.
TL;DR:
Shield is good in PvP.
Shield is near useless in PvE.
A bit longer:
Shield is good in PvP because 3s blocking that is limitless is really good if you are consentrated. Can really turn the table around if enemy is foolish enough to waste spike rotation on the block. While 1s stun is rather not that much, it’s still enough to land another, harder to land CC like flurry and bash can be used as an heal interrupt.
Shield is near useless in PvE because there is rarely situations when you are going to get more than 1 hit per 2 seconds or so making your shield block blocking max 2 hits. Hard CC is also rather useless in PvE because anything that you can stun doesn’t need to be stunned, they rarely possess much danger. And for hard CC there is better stuns that are also AoE.

It would be nice.
I never take reflection because the cooldown is so useful (and bonus toughness). Two traits for an off-hand is somewhat overkill.
I would like to see a revived version of “Shield – Bash” from Guildwars 1 warrior skill, which was as follows : “Skill. (5…10…11 seconds.) You block the next attack skill. Causes knock-down and +15 second recharge if it was a melee skill.

You’re supposed to use shield so you don’t get condi spammed in the first place.
Seriously, if you’re not going to use shield aggressively so that you can close in the gap and actually attack then you may as well play shoutbow.
Not saying that you should play shoutbow because it’s easier but you need to completely understand how shield works before you say it’s bad.

If only the stance duration trait affected shield stance, i would be thrilled. Otherwise it is a neat piece of kit, it not only gives you toughness, but also extra armor stat, so it really does give a lot of protection. think exotic shields gives around 60 ish defense + 90 from trait, that is 150 armor in total. Very neat indeed.

Yes! I always wondered why the trait that improves stance durations does not improve Shield STANCE. >.> A 4 second block on it would be awesome.

Would be neat if traited shield gave protection 0.5 sec protection for every successfully blocked attack (when traited with some trait)

I’d like to see some of the shield traits consolidated.
GS has might on crit so it doesn’t seem too far off from what warriors should be capable of.
So in other words
New trait is mighty defenses + Shield master and its just called shield master.
Shield stun is now 2 seconds.
Shields now give 150 armor instead of 90.
DWA and dual wielding now also apply bonus to shield and warhorn.

Shield stance being affected from stance traits would make sense too. Also 3 sec stability with this trait would be nice as you get interrupted from aoe CC like lines. But you cant have it all :P

IF anet changed anything about warrior shield before they fix the pile of crap guardian shield is, i’d probably quit the game. If i could take warrior shield skills and put them on my guardian i’d be more than happy.

I would like some traits that reflect Melee damage while shield blocking like NPCs, and
Also a longer range for shield bash so that it can stop missing due to lag.
