For the purposes of this discussion:
-I’ve only had 1 character (a human warrior)….the others were failures
-I don’t have HoT yet

I wanna try something new. Basically I’m tired of dps melee. I’m tired of not having high damage ranged and aoe attacks. I’m tired of not being able to do condition damage. I’m tired of not having a viable role in zerg battles or WvW sieges/defense. I’m tired of spending 4 minutes hitting a siege golem with my Gs thousand blades zerker build, when a necro or condition dealer can just place 1 ranged aoe and wreck it.

I was thinking necromancer or mesmer.

I usually run solo. I’d want suggestions on the race to pick to go with it as well.

Stuff I’ve observed, but don’t know whether is true or not:::::

necro:
+aoe’s= easy loot, new gameplay dynamics, strategy, useful for WvW defense/offence.

Mesmer:
+I really like rts elements. planning attacks and screwing with your enemies seems fun
+very easy to get away from enemies or bad situations.
+portal mechanics are really up my alley. I like helping people. And I usually camp inside something that has been taken in WvW and recap myself. I usually solo build as well in wvw, portals would speed that up.

In general my understanding is necro is gonna be more direct damage. Mesmer is going to be more utility.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Extra: To my secret admirer who checks all my posting history for ways to badmouth my credibility ‘on the other forums’…..I will say this one more time: You are a creep. You are supposed to tackle the argument, not the person. This isn’t reddit.

I found the change from warrior to necro to be pretty straight forward with the 1 f1 button. The difference is mainly getting used to better positioning since you are no longer a heavy and a melee unless in reaper shroud.

Not to discredit your skill but it’s not saying much when everyone know most wvw players are bad.

I havent rerolled but I currently have a mesmer/reaper in the background, and beyond that thief/engi/ele :P

Keeping in mind you have to also unlock the new mastery which takes a bit of time.

Elementalist. It gets you range, AoE, and condi all in a nice package.
Necro can do some good AoE with Epidemic, but otherwise I don’t see many group skills for them besides Wells, which are melee/mid range. Mesmer tends to be very single target, even if you go with a shatter build.
You could probably spoof some melee AoE with Guardian symbols Radiance/Zeal, but I’m not sure how well it’d work in a PvP setting.

tl;dr: Elementalist. :P

Ele. If you still want to be in a damage roll and not a support role. Plus you have about 5k less hp so your skills as a player are more important.

Ya you guys are probably right about the ele being best choice. I made a mesmer and didn’t find it as interesting as I thought it would be. And I always see elementalists dominating in wvw solo or in support roles when it comes to pvp combat. Plus I saw that video of the elementalist solo an arah path in 25 mins…..insane damage, speed, and damage mitigation.

I wanted to make an asura. Was thinking of ranger since it would be funny having a huge pet, and asura aren’t usually rangers. I made my mesmer a charr …I made it as small and short as possible and still find the model too large. asuran elementalist seems like its been done alrdy though specially since zojja is one….and i was a human warrior before like logan lol.

Few fun facts about condition warrior:
-is ranged
-has incredible strong AoEs with high uptime
-we have the top single target damage in the game currently
-20k health pool
-heavy armor
-constantly shoots bolts of fire and fire fields
-awesome “I’LL KILL YOU ALL” shouts when entering berzerk mode
-brings banners to the team

some not so fun facts:
-to be this awesome you lack sustain, so either be good or die a lot
-we’re slow, you gotta be in your other set(we use longbow+ sword/torch so sword/torch is the other set) to gain 25% move speed – otherwise you’ll die of boredom
-damage builds up slowly- you’ll start seeing 10-20k ticks only after 10s+. That doesn’t make us viable for low hp targets(my reve does 8k damage a hit, while my war has to build up for 7-10s before killing a normal mob)
