“Seriously, just dodge.”
Are you a Warrior?
Do you have a Rifle?
Can you go Berserk?
If you meet all these requirements, then I greet you friend for you are on your way to the best build for the Warrior ever created. That’s right, you too can be awesome with the [YOLO] Gunflame build everyone secretly craves! If by any chance you are NOT a warrior, you can still be of assistance to those running this build by being cannon-fodder, thank you for your support.
“Wait Rifle for the Warrior sucks in general! The burst is the only redeeming thing about it and its easy to tell when its going off!”
Correction hypothetical questioner, the Rifle for the Warrior sucks if you aren’t a raging Berserker. When you are literally on fire due to how enraged you are, Killshot turns into Gunflame, and Gunflame is the best Burst ability now and forever. 99% of scientists agree, Gunflame changes you forever. …Oh right, you want to know the build huh? Certainly, here’s what you need to have:
- If you are a Gunflame Berserker, your stats are self-explained. All Berserker, for every non-Berserker piece on you I WILL personally find an ambient innocent rabbit in the open world and Gunflame it. You are a Berserker, JUST DO IT.
- A Rifle, and your preference on other weapon set. Unfortunately as much as I would say go double-rifle to pull off something from Contra, I have been informed duel-wielding Rifles would make some thieves really sad. It’s funny because we make for better Snipers than they are right now.
- Arms, Discipline, Berserker Trait lines. You want Signet Mastery, Burst Precision, Crack Shot, Destruction of the Empowered, Burst Mastery, Smash Brawler, Blood Reaction, and Eternal Champion. …Huh? Arms Major Master? Do you really care? Also Burst Precision and Eternal Champion will be explained shortly.
- Utilities? You want Signet of Might, Berserker Stance, and Signet of Rage, I don’t care what you use for the Healing Skill, or your other Utility…I guess Outrage might be nice maybe? Hell, find a way NOT to slot a healing or 3rd utility, you good.
Runes? You have Gunflame, it doesn’t matter. Go whatever. (In all seriousness aim for Ferocity, think of the numbers!)
Anyways you got all that? Good, time to explain how it works.
So with the set-up above, you have a certain amount of flexibility before and during combat on how to approach each fight. The neat thing about Gunflame in this build is that some of the normal counters against ranged attacks in general, won’t apply. Why? Because between Signet of Might and Signet Mastery, you got enough Unblockable to make Frontline Guardians go to SPvP and play Trapper DH instead. Blocking and Reflects will NOT work, meaning the foe has to deal with you by either Blinding you (As a warrior you should know how we all feel about Blind. Hence why Berserker stance is on the bar), Dodging, or popping invuln. Stealth isn’t quite a counter as your Gunflame channel follows them into stealth, which means you know where they are.
You probably noticed I incorporated Burst Precision, and are questioning why I am not running Sigil of Intelligence. Well that’s because you are going to popping at least Three Gunflame shots and at most Four if you time it right. To gain adrenaline you need to attack, thus wasting the Intelligence charges. In other words, Sigil of Flame and Sigil of Air are probably in that handy Rifle of yours.
Eternal Champion…is actually a means of ensuring no one interrupts your Gunflame with a single CC, they would have to stack it up quickly. An interrupted Gunflame is sad, like those PETA commercials with the animal shelter animals looking at you, especially that one white kitten- wait what. Sorry, about that.
Will you be weapon-swapping? Sure, Discipline has you covered, I run Sw/Sh and in the unlikely event your opponent outlasted all your Gunflames and Berserk, I dip, duck, dive and dodge. Get them with the next Berserk.
…I think that just about covers it, seriously go nuts, we actually got some nice buffs for the build today as well so seriously, start firing away.
Also, bonus points if you have The Predator, run Action Camera, and ‘tea-bag’ your dead enemies. Have fun with the best build ever!
+1 – This should DEFINITELY become the meta for all things “Warrior”!!!
Just played about 5 games with this and I must say, i’m rather impressed. It’s fairly effective and insanely fun. Had several 10k ranged crits
I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I did
Back in the day was geting 30k to 40k crits on killshot , poor dps now.
no strength for extra damage boost?
no strength for extra damage boost?
No need, each gunflame does consistently high burst damage that forces a dodge or invul in most cases. Giving up either Arms ‘Auto-critting Gunflames + Free Unblockable on Signet Mastery’ or Discipline ‘Crack Shot for Piercing rounds and rifle reduction + Burst Mastery 7% damage increase on Burst and Adrenaline refund’ are not worth the Str GM. The minors in these two lines work a bit better for Rifle as well compared to Strength….
Real Warriors don’t use wussy ranged weapons. Leave that to the Rangers….
We aren’t dealing with some peashooters here friend. Calling a Warrior’s Rifle a ‘wussy ranged weapon’ is tragically wrong.
Our greatswords cleave, our hammers crush…
Our Rifles blow @#$& up!

yeah, that’s fair. still, I’d run great sword so strength would offer higher value. double Intel for gunflame and arcing sear would be a choice I’d make too.
regardless I’ll be testing this for wvw roaming with both. feel like berserkers power and forceful GS w peak performance for bulls charge will be the way to go, but I will see.

always one person to ruin everything
I’m not even a fan of glassy power builds on warrior and this is some of the most fun on warrior I’ve ever had lol.
I run this with Valkyrie armor for more survivability. I rely on fury, signet w/ precision, intelligence sigil for regular crits as the bursts are already guaranteed to crit.
Something to try when raging is on cool down – use killshot followed by signet to insta recharge adrenaline and use raging burst as it come off cd.
(edited by Ivarr Wolfsong.2986)
I would argue that Valkyrie stats are better than Berserker for the YOLO Gunflame Build. All of the precision of Berserker stats is wasted because you rely on Burst Precision to drop guaranteed crit Gunflames on your enemies, so you might as well redirect the precision to something else.
Personally I’ve been running with defense over arms and strength. It means lower damage, but without Cleansing Ire you get eaten alive with conditions and immobilize/chill completely shuts you down. I’m still seeing 9k+ crits against most players and don’t really miss the damage too much. The free endure pain really helps with survival, and dogged march/shield mastery isn’t too shabby either.
It is sooo fun ! I’ve never thought I’d play rifle warrior
And it’s dealing insane damages xD
So, first step to the e-sport : adc – check
(if they nerf it without nerfing DH & Reaper… I’ll cry)

+1 for the panache of this post
Sorry for the delay, I was turning some ambient critters in Gendarren into red mist.
I am quite aware of Valkyrie’s potential in the build given the auto-crits from Burst Precision, however you are trading away additional burst from Gunflame which could make the difference of downing someone immediately or having them stay alive and pop something nasty, AS well as pressure from your normal Rifle attacks. Volley is no joke if it consistently crits, sustained high damage is not something easily dodged and can trigger Signet Mastery’s Unblockable. The Precision is NEVER wasted, thanks to the trait ramping it all into raw Critical Damage.
Intelligence Sigil is problematic due to its ICD and weapon swap functionality, you stick to the rifle the same way a PS Warrior sticks to his Greatsword. The alternative Weapon-set a utility set, and ideally should be defensive and used in situations where things have hit the fan, such as a Glass thief getting the drop on you out of nowhere.
And yes, if things look rough and you somehow did flub up Gunflames Killshot is an option provided you can get enough Adrenaline (through popping a sudden Berserker Stance or other means) for the next Berserk. Killshot’s raw damage is slightly higher than Gunflame.
Let’s see, Larynx that’s hilarious, I dig it. Khael you give up auto-crits and free Unblockable for CI whose ‘taking hits grant Adrenaline’ won’t help out too much when you are full glass and gets hard countered by blind so often you won’t make those clears as much as you would think. Shield Mastery is nifty but not required, shield skills are on a really short CD now it’s not really necessary. Defy pain is the only redeeming quality I would see in that line, but giving up what Arms provides is just not an option for [YOLO].
Dristig gets it. That’s a [YOLO] if I seen one.
Pro-tip, keep Signet of Rage passive its adrenaline gains keep you well-fed.
this build is absolutely for wussies
shame on warriors with rifle
go play ranger, enginner and others wussies class.
It’s fun and hilarious, but I have to say I don’t feel like a warrior anymore.

Edit. My point of view is not myopic. I’m just a not a wuss like everyone else using rifle :P
so playing ranged is for wussies, but rocking heavy armor makes you a real tough guy? interesting

It’s okay, it’s understandable that you can’t see the appeal of blowing up people.
Tell you what, let us know about how great Warrior is by playing all the other currently meta builds for Warrior against the other classes, and reflect on how bad you are right now since Warriors have been phased out of any competent play or role. Hope it makes you feel better calling Gunflame Berserkers ‘Wussies’ when you yourself are taking up the new job of being a literal dead-weight in any PvP setting.
What I am trying to say is, get good you baddie, pick up a rifle and blow the smithereens out of everyone as thanks for our current state in the game.
Been running this build for a while, great fun and feel like I’m actually useful.
Tho I’d run Greatsword on swap, both better at gaining distance and/or retaliating hard if you get caught.
I also prefer going Strength, grabbing endure pain instead of Signet of Might and Great Fortitude. My attacks may be blocked more frequantly but at least I’ll stay alive longer and deal bonus damage on the second and third gun flame.

Also if you people didn’t notice it yet, the “hate.3195” guy is a self-explanatory troll, just a headsup.
Strength-Arm-Berserker
Scholar runes, Signet of Fury, Signet of might, Endure pain, Healing signet, Signet of rage
Sigil of force, Sigil of air on rifle
:)
Anyone criticizing the Gunflame build: go play a couple rounds of PvP or roam WvW as a vanilla Warrior.
Then, after you get demolished by overpowered Reapers/Chronomancers/Dragonhunters, you will see that the only thing left for Warrior is to spam Gunflame for cheese kills.
Hell, even Daredevils and Tempests laugh at Warriors right now.
Warrior Sniper Killshot/ Gunflame is my main build since the launch of Guild Wars 2
i’m not here to brag or kitten things but when you play it good you can change a fight !

see ya in game !
oh and i don’t kitten care being a wuss or not because i play warrior rifle, i’m just seeing dead everywhere in WvW and thats all i care ! might even see these “real” warrior here ah ah !
oh and i’m actually trying to build a guild of snipers can you imagine that in WvW ?
it finally happen, sniping is being popular, and i will clap my hands in the air if it become meta !

Love this thread. Thanks Sykper
Mhhh… I can’t seem to understand how to have any success with this build. It feels clunky and easy to play against

The build is either brilliant or meh. I find it’s more reliant on teammates due to how squishy it is, but the damage output is ridiculous.
Me and my friends will often bring a bunker, someone to at least takes the hits while the other snipes out easy targets. Even though necros can easily kill this build, I also find them one of my favorite targets because they have very little to react against it in a teammate. No real teleports, stealth, things that would otherwise make it difficult to land gunflame.

I +1 this, as long as you have friends to help bait the enemy, it allow you to land gunflamme quite easily as long as you know where to be and when to strike,
in a lot of case, the guy doesn’t die and start playing defensivly and flee.
to be effective with sniping you have to make sure that nobody is engaging you and only a good positioning can allow that

Lol dat vault. All daredevils I see in PvP pretty much hop around like dogs in heat all over the place…its essentially Vault→Vault→Vault…..or dodge→dodge→dodge to dump condis.

Definately! I’ve had some luck with it in solo que, but I really feel like having at least one friend to pair with and take hits helps tremendously. You’re very vulnerable, but also a force to be reckoned with and choosing not to focus you can bea deadly mistake.
There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a rev or guardian blocking thinking they’re safe, only to get insta downed by an unblockable gunflame lol
You could probably move your sniper guild to Tarnished Coast. They have plenty of Rangers there.
Its not going to happen i’m from EU server
killing people who rez allies have never been so much fun
Spoken like a true Ranger !
Spoken like someone who has never played Warrior before, do you even know how good our cleave on downs is?
Gawd, infinity confirmed Mesmer or Thief. Clearly.
I’ve scored more than a few cheap and dirty kills from Gunflame lately in WvW. Spamming Gunflame in WvW does have its advantages, both in small-group roaming fights and in big zergs. Just make sure you have someone else taking the heat for you, and you can down enemies surprisingly fast (with Signet of Fury for surprise Gunflames, of course). How ironic that Warrior, the original melee bruiser class, is reduced to sniping cheese kills like those obnoxious Rangers.
I still wouldn’t bother with a Gunflame gimmick build in sPvP though.
It feels great when you can get the gunflame off
Unfortunately if they have an inkling of knowledge about the build you’re worthless
fun for a few matches though

True, if anyone realize what you’re trying to do and focuses you, you become a free kill/rallybot.
The Gunflame law of the jungle: kill (first) or be killed.
been running this for the last couple of hours.
Strangely, I found better results using strength instead of berserker.
The sword/shield adds a little bit but hardly enough survivability
been running this for the last couple of hours.
- You have to waste a heal to get into berserker.
- Shot is gated behind berserker, so you need to already be in combat
- Anything with any damage one shots you
- You are slow
- Your range is too little
- It was rather satisfying hitting that ranger for a 12K Crit
- You have no way to disengage,
- because you have no way to disengage you become an easy target.
Strangely, I found better results using strength instead of berserker.
I don’t need heal to get into Berserker mode : signet of fury do that
you can shot without berserker, but you have to play it differently :
I use killshot against mono fleeing target for maxi damages, because killshot still deal more damages than gunflamme and I use Gunflamme against rezing people, stacked people or very tanky who need more than one shot to be downed.
I play with warhorn which gave me speed and vigor, a must have for repositioning or when you have to flee.
for the range i agree and disagree : range is 1500 its the best like ranger, but the bullet doesn’t work like ranger’s arrow : its strait line and the projectile stop right there when it reach 1500 unlike the arrow.
to disengage i use heal signet for the resistance and i jump every where with sword2
if someone goes to my feet use rifle5, but i agree in a lot of situation its not enough.
you are not supposed to be focused with a build like that : its NOT a duel build.
you are an easy target when foes know what you are running :p
Dunno about you guys, but in sPvP gunflame is good. Used it a lot and won. The only thing is I use condition gear, which is better off than using other stats.
Tempted to try this out with Dark Asuran Rifle skin for maximum Badguy.
I’m not as YOLO as some of you, but I have been messing with Rifle.
This is what I have been working on. It’s not perfect yet but it does offer a healthy balance of damage and sustain so long as you’re facing some CC, which is almost ever build, you can also CC yourself so you’re gonna get use out of the synergy no matter what. Might take Smash Brawler instead but both are useful
I’ll leave the glassy ranged damage to Rangers, I wanna be in the fray lining up collateral shots.
I’m gonna leave the image below, I love this build so much I made a second berserker lol.
Whether you think berserker is ok or terrible, I think we can all agree it is hilarious to make dragonhunters whine we’re OP. Yeah that person in map chat calling me out for my “no skill buid,” that was the enemy’s dragonhunter who died numerous times to me lol
