Elementalists really need help.
what are you saying ?!?!?!? i’ve met some incredible eles on my queues, they do incredibly well, dish out ridicolous damage, both sustained and burst, and they can seriously turn the tide of a battle.
This is a l2p issue, you should met REALLY skilled eles.

No, joking, they suck balls.
i agree. i’m a casual player.
i play my elementalist once in sPvP.
died within seconds.
never played her again.
but we got some pretty good elementalist players in our casual guild though.
Anet has a suggestion form you can fill out. It’s located in the third stall on the right. There are no guide lines. Just fill out your comments and suggestion, place them in the porcelain suggestion box and push the lever to submit.

After reading several other posts on the state of the Elementalist, it seems that some in the pvp community feel that by simply playing the class in a pvp match you are griefing your own team mates, because your inclusion in the team means a definite loss. When it gets to the point that you are told to leave and play another class before the game has even started, i think it’s a good indication that the class in question needs some love. Having said that, anyone that bullies another player in a pvp match for playing Ele (or for any reason)takes this game far too seriously. We are all here to have a good time, right?!?!
Make them better, and make them shut up in combat.
I hate when they keep spouting “Fire!” “Water!” ’n stuff…

Eles are very strong. Very high AOE, mobility, survival… Bad eles do suffer but good ones thrive
The high skill ceiling argument is used a lot to justify the Elementalist’s state. And it has some value I guess, because it does take extra effort and skill to play a competent Ele.
But then why do I keep hearing that most, if not all, the top Ele players have long since either swapped classes or moved on to other games? Isn’t that indicative of a deeper problem beyond skill ceilings/floors? Or weren’t even they skilled enough?
I’m not trying to troll here or anything, I’m legitimately asking.
Eles are very strong. Very high AOE, mobility, survival..
AoE I can understand (when hotjoin newbies stand in Lava Font/Meteors)….but “very high mobility and survival?”
Either you don’t know what those words mean, or you are simply trolling…most likely trolling.

Until I was in the same room as a friend, doing dungeons together, I never realised quite how vocal elementalists are. Every few seconds I hear from their speakers “Spark to flame!”, “Earth!” or maybe a generic boon one like “There’s the power!”, all of it from me.
I barely notice what my own character says most of the time, but they’re definitely very chattery when played by other people. An option to turn down all players’ chatter might be useful sometimes.

To be fair, I made a staff ele that was designed specifically with the idea of mobility in mind- i.e., boost yours, limit your opponent’s. It’s really fun and has an extremely high skill cap IMO, and has the potential to be really strong in a different meta. Just that the ele overall is so weak atm that the build isn’t very good.

In other words we have found the root of eles problem, luckily we can solve it in one step. Silence all eles! Trust me, you’ll never hear them complain ever again.

As with other classes, bad players suffer but they don’t suffer as much if they ain’t ele. And good ones thrive. Therefore argument is invalid.

Well isnt it more that other classes with certain builds are overpowerd?

No, ele is trash. Everyone knows it. They got nerfed this patch, not buffed. Elemental attunement is something every ele needs and they moved it to a higher tier to promote “build diversity” lol
My favorite thing people say in ele threads is “I remember when dagger/dagger was really good”
Please stop. Scepter has always been better.

Well, that might be why eles meet less sympathy than they should.
However, I didn’t say they don’t need a buff.
Wait, they do not need them as much as we think: other classes need to be brought back. This meta is victim of crazy powercreep! Enough with buffing.

just stop.
I understand that ele seems worse than other classes sometimes but it’s really not that bad. Sure a few buffs would be awesome (focus fire cough)
But it really isn’t that bad. I play fresh air ele in tpvp and I win most of my fights and get a lot of messages like “U’re really good man” “GG to the ele” “Wow I’ve never been beaten by an ele before” “whats ur build” “most dmg i’ve ever seen”
Ele isn’t a class like necro where u can just spam ur auto attack and win a fight.
Fresh air ele is very very high risk vs very very high reward. Learn how to play ele (and I dont just mean how to “burst” combo, I mean how to rotate on the maps, which fights to engage and which to avoid) and you will see that it’s not that bad.
Ele is just dead in PvP. the team with the ele will lost most of the games. There is no class which cant beat the ele 1 vs 1 and even if you know how to play an ele u will always have problems to win the 1 vs. 1. If u play ele perfectly and the enemy plays his class also perfectly ele will always lose. I play ele since beta but since summer 2013 it is not viable.
Simple fact of the matter is, no matter what skill level you play at right now, Elementalist under performs. I was matched against Caed, Reevzy, Tany, Zeromis and The NA Hero (bulk of them are on the first page of leaderboards) yesterday in a match and Reevzy was playing a staff Elementalist. He did super with it honestly but even then, somehow we were in the lead with a 3 cap. A top player, ranked #14 switched his class mid-match to Engineer and the difference was night and day.
I love how the class plays, I truly do, I mained Ele before I stopped playing last time in July and the self field combo finisher playstyle of it is really entertaining. However, the class really is struggling for some love right now and you have to be blind to not see it.

And the fact you’re getting messages like that don’t give you any obvious-as-hell hints that something might be up with the class?

I don’t think you know what high risk vs high reward means. Fresh Air has literally NO sustain, it’s nice to spike-burst people to low health but almost impossible to finish them off (especially bunker/balanced builds). Fresh Air basically gets 1-shotted by other glass builds, especially Thief/Mesmer.
Yes, on a completely stationary (AFK) target it is possible to do the highest burst damage in the game with D.Tooth + Phoenix + L.Flash + L.Strike + Arcane Wave/Blast. Cool story.
But try to land all that on someone who isn’t dense, it’s extremely predictable what the Ele will try to do with their opener and your damage goes out the window with 1 dodge/block/invuln ability. You just blew everything, what do you have now? Nothing. RTL in the opposite direction and wait for cooldowns while the enemy team caps (and laughs).
Almost every other class has access to damage-builds that can do very high damage, the difference is that they are vastly easier to play AND have vastly better survivability.
Meanwhile Ele has access to a 1-trick-pony burst build that relies heavily your enemies being terrible.
High risk, very little reward. Or as a wise man’s signature said, “Twice the work to be half as good”.
