I think the only piece of advice given was keep your distance from a warrior and watch the enemy mesmer’s timewarp cd and positioning. There is also no consideration for what new players experience. Top players just saying L2P to new players is like asking the game to be guillotined from the bottom up.

u must be reading the wrong thread then if thats all you got out of this its (so hard me me not to bash u write now) i will just say try reading it all again.

and i already made 2 awesome threads for ways to help new ppl. one was an advanced playlist and the other was a way to give teams more time against good teams for practice.

try reading it all it never just says learn to play it says ask for help and practice you need to read what l2p means for example if i tell you L2R now what that means is learn to read or ask me if your comprehension of what im saying isnt making sense. (not saying you have bad comprehension it could just be my grammar)

Mufa, I have read many of your posts, most of them are ridiculous and based around trying to create a 1 v 1 dueling game. Sataar is generally obnoxious but his words have some credibility, all you have are silly ideas and a weird perception of what is necessary for balance.

You need to understand how a game gets to esports. Telling people to L2P doesn’t do that, it does the opposite as it avoids the root of the issue. For the game to be an esport there needs to be a viewer base, ie. from a casual player base. This is nearly non-existant right now which is partially due to the new player walking out of the gate and getting instagibbed without proper warning by the specs that are QQ’d about. Sure it can be fine at higher levels of play but for people starting out IT IS VERY BAD.

If you want the game to succeed the meta is going to have to shift to something that is less toxic at entry level, even if you find it is fine. The only reason that makes sense to tell players to L2P rather than address the core issue is out of fear of a meta shift and your ability to adjust.

Just because you troll everyone constantly doesnt mean that when you give a valid argument it should be tossed aside.

The only mesmers i hear screaming are the ones who got an exploit.

See here’s the thing mesmers…there was no nerf. There was a bug fix, and a take back on a buff meant for PvE. Thats it.

And Thieves, enjoy Heartseeker spamming now. Next patch? Thats the first thing to go. Guarantee it. Why? Not to nerf, but to ADD SKILL.

Even I, who has never played a thief, can go on a map, stealth in, and heartseeker the kitten out of people and not miss…ever. Those types of abilities on other characters require aiming of sorts!

Stop QQ’ing. I know I do every once and a while and I KNOW i need to L2P. The problem is that that acronym is so synonymous with “Ha. Newb” or “Your just bad”. Thats not always the case.

I’m sorry sataar but I’ve played against top teams when everyone was still in this game and you are far behind mesmers like Milty, Esplicz, Erichhimself (i think all 3 have quit though so you are better than most other mesmers but that doesn’t mean you earned the spot).

2nd if you are challenging someone to a 1v1 in a team based game then you are proving my point. you need to L2P and again i dont mean it in a bad way as i wrote before i mean it as in a way you need to L2P this game (guild wars 2) its a team game if you have been going into tournaments with your you can beat everyone 1v1 build then i just figured out your problem.

I want to make this game better for ESports and these two mesmer abilities have no comparable abilities available to other classes. If they really want to keep these two abilities which are unparalled by anything else, then other classes should have a near replica to promote greater comp diversity.

Also, just claiming they asked for your build doesn’t mean kitten and given all the BS you continual spout I give it no validity, sorry. The fact that you alluded to me being jealous is hilarious and shows how your twisted, egotistical thought process operates.

so let me get this straigth… there is like 2 frees rotations and 1 paid rotation in prime time going in all NA thats not even 200 dudes, and u dont want em to make the game easier by removing or nerfing stuff that ppl think that they are “op” so more ppl play it or they feel more confortable, but u want it to go esports, im sorry i dont understand.

we know ur good satarcoeny, but its not good to get kitteny and call urself best and call other people l2p, instead of saying l2p, Learn people how to play. teach them tricks, how to counter what and what. what does people have issues against? what can they do to counter that? show it in a vid or something, nobody cares about ur win/lose rates lol

ppl are trying to take the easy way out but the easy way out isnt going to make it to esports. when you watch the olympics and you see someone go that extra mile do that harder thing it pays off if its successful but if they fail it it has big consequences

go big or go home i say. take moa for example i may have been moa 5 times in tournaments because i paid attention. so i was ok with the old moa they took a big risk trying it so they get the reward. but the community QQ so hard because they didnt want to learn how to dodge it now they nerfed it so hard you will never see it again.

my point is keep nerfing everything it will eventually all be gone except 1 meta everyone has same utilities same elites and then the game is to boring not only to watch but to play also. this is not the game KRYSHADE told me about and the community for a competitve game is not what it should be.

we should have forum posts on hoe to make game more exciteing talking about how to over come challenges we should be calling other teams out in a friendly manner. not all this QQ stuff or getting serious saying ppl are not good and belittling them.

What does this have to do with new players dieing to burst specs? Their problem is they aren’t taking optimal advantage of their active defense and high burst damage punish this. What can be buffed, rather than nerfed to help this relationship while having a minimal impact on higher level of plays?

i guess you only read the TLDR part at the end because if you read the post you would have seen i didnt say i was the best i put that at the TLDR part just to see how many ppl actually come in here to get better or if its just ppl that want to troll.

i dont need to make a video on how to play i can just as easily tell ppl what i do and they can take that info and use it or not either way is fine with me but you guys need to stop the QQ and figure out solutions first.

I come in peace since all my friends left and I just don’t give a kitten about this game anymore. Anyways, the problem with this game is gimmicky mechanics that are hard for new players to counter.

Stealth is the major problem. I have learned to dodge warrior skillshots almost immediately during BWE, while learning to counter thieves and mesmers took me much, much longer.
New casual players joining hotjoin games and being stabbed by two stealthed thieves will more probably just “Alt+F4, Control Panel, Uninstall a program, Delete (+ utilise box + CDs in the proper trashcan)” than stay and sacrifice hours of gameplay to counter these things, unless they’re dedicated PvPers.

We all know that dedicated PvPers won’t make a successful e-sport.

And Sataar coming after having played 3000 games and saying L2P to the new players is just hilarious, I’ll gladly take the popcorn offered by Fuzion.

you cant nerf a spec because a new player died to it that makes absolutley no sense. imagine if math stopped at pre algebra because some ppl wernt smart enough or didnt spend time to learn it. that would make for a great world huh? no geometry no algebra 2 no calculus.

everytime you ppl defend QQ ing it makes me throw up in my mouth a little. more variety more challenges makes ppl better makes the world and game more entertaining.

i will go over all the mesmer skills later on and put my idea of what can be buffed and how it could be and how it will make the game more interesting.

Oh, it is the ‘I-am-the-champ-of-the-game-noone-plays-measured-by-grind-metric’ guy.

I assume you are a mesmer. By the fact that mesmers are consider pretty much a must-have in current teams you know that in top rankings (for 5v5 conquest) you would have more than 20% mesmers. That is almost double the ideal balance point (12.5%). That is considered severely OP (you essentially destroy presence of one whole class).

They need to give us ranked ques (1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 5v5) and start balancing from there.
You define balance as having the same representation for all classes in top rankings (top100&top500) (about 12.5 for each class).

You balance first dmg with 1v1.
Once that is done (dmg balanced) you start balancing 2v2-3v3 with combo fields and diminishing returns on group effects of skills (buffs/aoe dmg etc).
Further you balance 3v3 and 5v5 with further diminishing returns and nerfing skills/utilities/elites that benefit large groups the most (TW, portal,… you know, stuff that makes you guys severely OP in group settings )

The name of the game is GUILD WARS… GROUP Utility is freaking part of it! They will not make it a 1v1 based system because it has no place in the entire game. If every class was balanced based off 1v1 then the classes would lose their uniqueness… BTW whoever think engineers still suck seriously an engineer with a net turret/flame thrower and bomb kit can hold a point easy… not to mention supply drop which is OMGERED your whole team is dead cuz I just mega stunned you beezys… If every class was on the same level 1v1 it would defeat the design of the game… Anyone ever wonder why they have 8v8 in sPvP… mmmm how many professions does this game have… Omg DING DING DING DING…

So, because it is not a 1 v 1 game it’s ok for certain professions to be great in a 1 v 1 setting and great in group settings? Makes sense…

Yeah it makes perfect sense… Professions that are great in 1v1 AND group.. mesmer…Guardian… Warrior… ele…professions that are great in groups Ranger (lets face it their longbow attacks can be a pain)…Engineers may have gotten nerfed but they are still more versatile when it comes to weapon kits and they are really good in groups… necros I haven’t seen enough of to place them for group or 1v1 but as I understand it the wells and so on are really good… and then the thief…. great 1v1…. terrible group utility… shadow refuge… thats it… And it only works IF the players stop attacking while they are in it…

The group play of the game is very important… and constantly whining so that every class is balanced 1v1 ruins the uniqueness of ALL classes…. if you want to play a FPS where everyone has the same specs and abilities then GO DO IT… Versatility is what this game is about hence the bagillion different ways players can configure builds…

I think for this to be fixed there has to be some sort of a rating system. Catering the balance towards casual players does not work because balance should be catered towards high-level play and towards players who truly understand the mechanics of the game.
Players get instagibbed out the door because they start out playing vs players with alot more experience than them.
The devs need to work on a system that helps new players SLOWLY get integrated into PvP.

A couple of possible solutions that could aid the ailing Mists:

1.) Make a more in-depth intro to the mists when new players first enter the mists. Teaching players how to cap a point, how to stomp and how to res is NOT enough.

2.) Implement some sort of a rating system so that new teams will face other new teams, and more experienced teams will face other more experienced. However for this to work there honestly needs to be a higher population, which there isn’t.

3.) Create a free tourney system which only allows single players or duo groups to queue up.

4.) Find a way to reward more tournament tickets, OR reduce the cost to enter paids. Paids are empty because the amount of tickets required to enter it is less than the amount of tickets (that could be bought with gems) that are rewarded. Also, only top players are rewarded, while the losing teams are left out. I don’t think it’s fair that lesser skilled/experienced players should have to pay for paids only because of their lack of skill/experience. PvP is for everyone.

5.) Design a LFG system that is easy and accessible to new players or even experienced players. There is a huge lack of teams (skilled or not), especially in NA.

Moreover, the devs need to make a more serious push on PvP. There are a very few changes made and only every few weeks. There could be serious money made if PvP gets popular, which should be incentive enough for Anet.
New game modes, extra maps, other forms of tPvP other than tournaments are just a few possibilities.

You are misinterpreting my words. I still play the game, I just don’t care about it.

Secondly, I never asked for nerfs, you put these words in my mouth as they were mine. I just said Stealth is cheap, because it is. It doesn’t concern me personally, because I learned to counter it (as well as many other poop skills/builds like HS or these fotm eles), but I played hundreds of hours of PvP. Casuals will never do it.

I don’t know what Anet does with this problem, most probably nothing.
What I do know is there is never going to be a big casual/pro community with these things in their current state.

im sorry that you never made it to the real pvp and you think the game is not ballanced. i agree with you hot join is a bad place to judge the game. but that is the reason we are asking for a advanced option and make free for 1 or 2 ppl to q together.

I do not have a problem. I play solo and I need ANET to put infrastructure to support 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5. I will try whatever is convenient for me, but I will not organize life around game schedule as current 5v5 requires.
I do not need to change anything, I do not want to get on the team. I do not care about the nonsense that ANET calls ‘official’. If they do not configure pvp to cater to the needs of ppl who do not want to organize their life around game schedule you will have dead game as is now.
If I wanted to play 5v5 I would make my own team, make my own tactics etc…same as I made my own build. I do not need other ppl to think for me.

1. Damaging the clones (including shattering) hurts the mesmer.
2. Portal has the same range as blink and also can’t cross walls or gaps like blink.
3. Time warp requires the mesmer to enter an inactive meditation state for the duration. Recharge increased by 30 seconds and duration reduced by 5 seconds.
4. Moa morph affects both the target and the mesmer.
5. Blurred frenzy applies 20 seconds of bleeding on the mesmer. Damage reduced 30%. Recharging increased by 20 seconds.
6. Temporal Curtain pull range is reduced to 300. Pull cannot pull people off ledges.
7. Iarget stands in iWarden for more than 1 second, that target is now healed instead of damaged.
8. Magic bullet can now hit allies.
9. Confusion now only works for a target’s #5 skill.
10. Mesmer armor is now capped at 1000; health at 15000.
11. Mesmers must spend boons in order to complete shatters.
12. Mesmers suffer from poison while invisible and are still targetable.
13. Clones no longer have the name of the mesmer. Instead, they say clone. In addition, they are shaded a deep purple.
14. Mesmers now take twice as much damage from warriors.

Not everyone has skill level that hman has. One player does not prove anything since hman can be 5 skill levels above you and 2 skill levels above everyone else in the game. If mesmer and warrior were balanced 1v1 hman would maybe be defeating you 1000:1. (or maybe if balance goes other way (I doubt) you would be beating him.
Even if there was ranked 1v1 que and hman was ranked 1st it gives very little info on where warriors as a class are balance-wise (what if the next ranked warrior is in 153rd place?).

What is needed is statistical data on 1v1 (ranked que by (account,class) ). Only when warriors as a class and mesmers as a class have similar representation in top100 and top500, people will stop complaining and QQ will stop. Understand that. You cannot tell them “look at hman”, it means nothing.

And the same thing with you mentioning ‘using warrior in your team’ or ‘using engineer in your team’. It means nothing, with sufficient skill a player can compensate for severe imbalances (underpowered) of the class. But that is a single player, it gives almost no information about how balanced the class is.

What those issues are is a point for discussion, unless you are suggesting this is somehow a magical game that is perfectly balanced, something which no MMO has ever been able to do, let alone a 6 months from launch.

Pretty much everyone has a thief and/or mesmer alt these days because they’re so ridiculously OP.

Oh, it is the ‘I-am-the-champ-of-the-game-noone-plays-measured-by-grind-metric’ guy.

I assume you are a mesmer. By the fact that mesmers are consider pretty much a must-have in current teams you know that in top rankings (for 5v5 conquest) you would have more than 20% mesmers. That is almost double the ideal balance point (12.5%). That is considered severely OP (you essentially destroy presence of one whole class).

They need to give us ranked ques (1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 5v5) and start balancing from there.
You define balance as having the same representation for all classes in top rankings (top100&top500) (about 12.5 for each class).

You balance first dmg with 1v1.
Once that is done (dmg balanced) you start balancing 2v2-3v3 with combo fields and diminishing returns on group effects of skills (buffs/aoe dmg etc).
Further you balance 3v3 and 5v5 with further diminishing returns and nerfing skills/utilities/elites that benefit large groups the most (TW, portal,… you know, stuff that makes you guys severely OP in group settings )

The name of the game is GUILD WARS… GROUP Utility is freaking part of it! They will not make it a 1v1 based system because it has no place in the entire game. If every class was balanced based off 1v1 then the classes would lose their uniqueness… BTW whoever think engineers still suck seriously an engineer with a net turret/flame thrower and bomb kit can hold a point easy… not to mention supply drop which is OMGERED your whole team is dead cuz I just mega stunned you beezys… If every class was on the same level 1v1 it would defeat the design of the game… Anyone ever wonder why they have 8v8 in sPvP… mmmm how many professions does this game have… Omg DING DING DING DING…

So, because it is not a 1 v 1 game it’s ok for certain professions to be great in a 1 v 1 setting and great in group settings? Makes sense…

heres is a story about your super mesmer that apparently only you have (i really want to play u in paids to see him) he goes home point and caps it places a portal then runs to mid. he blows time warp ASAP so my team backs out and our guard uses santuary and stability for the team.

during this SAtaarcoeny tells skovex im going to hit the mesmer go to there point now. SAtaarcoeny hits the mesmer 4 times makes him use distortion and a heal.

back to the super mesmer only u have. the mesmer sees his home is being capped so he portals back. now with no elite no heal no distortion a wasted utility because it was used for portal he has to try and beat a fresh face……. you tell me when he wins that fight 1v1.

again please know what you are talking about before you post silly nerf stuff cause you just look silly and it all goes back to a L2P.

i enjoy telling you guys how to play and think if we keep this post up then a lot of readers taking my train of thought and emplemiting it into there playstyle will become a lot better

Let anyone blow cd’s in a team fight and forced into a 1 v 1 and that’s going to happen, the problem (as I was stating in reference to the other person’s post was) mesmers excel in BOTH areas of the game. 1 v 1 AND team fights, let that sink in and reread the post I was responding to. Perhaps you need to “l2read”, not in a bad way. You can whisper me in game and I’ll give you some pointers.

this game has no balance issies unles u look at this game from a 1v1 perspective then i agree with you. to bad this is not a 1v1 game and if you wise up you can L2P guild wars 2 (this is not solo man2) whisper me in game if you need help against super mesmers or thiefs i can help you bro thats why im here.

and yes as stated in the SOTG by vain “this is the most balanced game he has played”
