1/18/13 CD/FA/DB
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dragon Brand to Tier 3, and invite them, as well as FA, to the fine three-server tradition of the Dolyak Parade.
What is a Dolyak Parade? It is when people from all three servers (or at least, whoever shows up) get together at the end of the week – Thursday – to celebrate Dolyaks, Fun, and Friendly Rivalry. We use ruminant potions to transform into dolyaks, and march around the maps with fireworks, dodging zergs and confusing all those we come across (expect reactions like “Why are you all cows?”), much like a flash mob and ending with a glorious herd culling in which most everyone dies.
It’s a great way to blow off steam after a long week of battles, and also a way to form cross-server friendships (and also sometimes organize duels).
We have formed the Team Dolyak mini guild which people from all servers can join. It disseminates information about the time/location of the flash parade, and free (FREE!) ruminant and other such tonics for all.
Please send me a mail in game if you would like an invite to Team Dolyak! Bring your booze, bring your friends, and get ready to ruuuuuun freeeee, free as the wiiiind blows!
An official FA (former IoJ from day 0) apology. To the Team Dolyak member I ran into and killed a couple of days ago, I was (being a very non-frequent forum reader) unaware of Team Dolyak and your fun, non-combative ways. I saw the you, your CD tag and went for it.
For this, I apologise and in future will happily walk with you in the true spirit of TD.
This week has been quite fun in WvW, DB bringing their game face and CD ensuring everybody has to watch out wherever they may be. May the great battle continue!

Much of the FA wvw pop now is from IoJ like myself. We moved to FA in order to kill CD.
Talk about bitter ^

Because I was inside SM for nearly 2hours yesterday (hiding while I was eating) I can personally say FA is doing a terrible job of sweeping. There was no gate down, you are correct. There was a Mesmer hiding >_>

Sadly there are some (alright a fair few) who believe this is why we moved, even among those who moved. But I can assure you this is not the reason we chose to move to FA (albeit killing CD is fun, as is killing DB and those who stayed back on IOJ the day after the move) killing the enemy is all the same, the main thing that dictates killing or leaving is tactics but I won’t go in to that.
There was a huge amount of discussion before the move both internally and publicly over the server, and we basically decided that we would move (for the most part) as a community. This meant choosing a home and MANY servers were considered, some in higher brackets and some in lower. There was no discrimination as to what servers were discussed as possabilities.
I won’t go into why we did NOT choose certain servers as I am not writting this to assist arguments or fuel anything negative, merely to let people know a little behind the move. A fair few things came into consideration with what server to pick including community, playstyle and past record.
We saw FA as a great server (for us to move to) because.
1) we could cover times they were otherwise not very strong. ,
2) we also saw them as a very stable server in their rankings (and we all know server stability is a good thing).
3) FA also complimented many of our guilds styles as many of our guilds work in not too different ways.
4) FA also has a very strong fighting spirit and have accepted us with welcoming arms (this was established somewhat before the move as we were in talks with some of FA’s quite respected players by talking to them about how well they thought we would be recieved.) And no this does not mean we were talking to them a long way before the move to gang up on cd, it infact only happened the day before the move.
I hope this sheds a little light for some people. Although it may just be ignored but there it is, some reasoning as to why we moved where we did. (Apologies for it not being too well written, I’m on a phone that likes to screw me around with editing stuff I’ve typed)

oh no way! thats why it was the same mesmer porting you guys in, that was trying to jump the wall at durios 15 mins earlier right?

You chose to move to FA because you wanted to create one super server out of 2 good servers, I get that, and it’s fine (though I would guess most people have far more respect for the original FA and IOJ players who stayed, than for the group of people who jumped ship to create a super server).
The bitterness is in regards to the forum posts that act like CD deserves to be punished for, well basically nothing. I just can’t wait to see you guys go against Magooooma. If you think CD talks trash some of you are in for a real wake up call.

People in this thread acting like CD run their mouths without stopping have a horribly convenient selective memory… which is why I’m so amused at the implosion and the spin they keep trying to put on it.
At any rate, hopping on the good old bandwagon doesn’t seem to be against the WvW rules so let them jump ship as much as they want.

Actually the move had no intent around a super server, infact when discussed we all said we would be happy to stay in tier 3 as some of the past weeks in tier three have been some of the best in regards to combat.
And it wasn’t a jump ship, it was, oh crap we have already sunk, lets try to swim to the surface kinda feeling
Of course you would have to be someone that doesn’t only think about winning to understand that our goal was to be with people we thought would be fun, instead of worrying about being in a server that will always win.

No gate down, but our trebs made a pretty nice hole to walk through.
Seriously I don’t get this whole ‘server loyalty’ brouhaha & it has irked me. To me there is nothing wrong with playing to win & there is nothing wrong with staying behind with the community you love. Everyone has the right to determine own reason/s to play the game
for, so why is there a need to seek others approval on how you play the game? After all, you bought the game, not others.
Btw, I have been with CD since day 1 & I miss Orr farming with a few of my buddies who had transferred to other servers. Can’t wait for Guesting feature to be implemented

- Move = not a super server
- Happy to stay T3
- Last few weeks had some good combat
…so what you guys do…
Have one T3 server mass exodus(your server’s own paraphrased words) into the other T3 server.

I must say that ive not had such tension while running in wvw for quute some time. Every skrmish ends up an epic battle. Props to FA for being what seems like on every part of the map. Its very difficult and dangeous to do anything solo these pasr few days.
Thanks ….and dont be surprised to see DB pull ahead this week.

Err… happy to be the plucky/confused Underdogs again, I do my best work while on the back foot – winning by unassailable margin got old fast. No shortage of action in the last few days.
Wonder how the remaining IOJs felt when they logged in the day before reset to find their old brothers-in-arms going berserk in Red clothes, clearing them off the map – sending em down a tier with a knee to the groin and fistful of dust in the eyes.
Very Mercenary, but no-one is mistaking this for the age of chivalry – I applaud the formation of this Evil Empire.

You obviously don’t know CD or it’s history.
You really don’t understand the guilds in IoJ’s numbers then. The Large guilds, did not move to FA, they went to K-aing, SoS, SoR and JQ, oh and one to Blackgate.
The majority of guilds that went to FA are smaller, lot smaller. Infact if you check the servers I just placed above me, some of those would indicate they went to a server to win, to quote ND (love you guys) (who went to SoS)
“We want to go to somewhere that we don’t need to be depended on.”
That was said from someone who truly after 4 months of being the underdog on an underdog server that always fought larger numbers had hit is breaking point, and needed to give his guys some R&R. It was from the heart, not the head, from a place of we need to do something or go to another game.
Again I don’t expect many people to understand where we came from, but labeling those of us that went to FA to create a “super server” is false, plain and simple.
p.s. I know CD and its history, infact it was part of my task to go talk to all our potential servers to better understand where to go, who they were etc.. I actually took time to find out about your server, it would be the right thing to do, to take time to find out about ours.
Of course you would have to be someone that doesn’t only think about winning to understand that our goal was to be with people we thought would be fun, instead of worrying about being in a server that will always win.
Shouldn’t you be telling this to the people over at Isles of Aspenwood?
Already have Lune, already have. And the good thing about FA is that they feel the same way, people and community first, winning second
(from what I’ve seen and heard anyway)
Nice fights DB!
I was getting sick of fighting FA and IoJ and now IoFA!
Seems like everyother person is a D/D ele or perma stealth rogue.
DB has some nice smaller grps that will actually fight till they die stead of run after getting hit twice.
Of course you would have to be someone that doesn’t only think about winning to understand that our goal was to be with people we thought would be fun, instead of worrying about being in a server that will always win.
Is anyone buying this? Because I’m certainly not. If you didn’t care about winning and just wanted to have fun you would have stayed with the server you were on in the first place.
Or you could have gone down a few tiers and found a server that needed help against up and coming super servers like Mag and Kaining.
There are only two believable reasons why you would, as a community, merge with FA.
#1. To create a super server more capable of winning.
or
#2. To punish CD for beating you, and the perceived trash talk that followed.
Regardless, your line about just playing for fun sounds like just another disingenuous knock at CD.
Anyway, I was hoping you and FA would have double teamed us last week. The harder the fights the better we get. Now that you’ve merged and we’re being triple teamed we’re getting the challenge we were looking for. Don’t know why CD would fall apart now, we don’t need to win every week, but we play to win and that’s what matters.

So we got a bunch of fair weather players from IOJ?
How little you know….
Since weekly WvW matches started on the 15th of September, IoJ has won 2 matches. One was a blowout against an imploding ET, and the other was the first week of our current matchup.
As a result, all the fair weather players left IoJ months ago.
The IoJ players that remain do not give up if they’re not leading, nor do they care if they’re outmanned. I doubt most even care if they win. They’re battle hardened and they fight for every last keep, every last dolyak.
Many servers like to say they never give up. None have proven it like IoJ has.

You’re right, I don’t. Because I see multiple people saying that a large part of IoJ went to the same place. One user from IoJ even said:
" …and if you look at the transfers, ultimately chose overwhelmingly to stick together."
…talking about the IoJ transfers.
No matter how much you downplay the amount of transfers, I fail to see how your words line up with what’s been happening. From my point of view you’re saying a lot of conflicting things that don’t line up. To me, it’s all just spin.

I think you misunderstood the post you’re thanking. It quoted two inconsistent statement from your server.
Maybe in your mind you rationalized some of this behavior, but in the end of the day. You’re sick of being the underdog, you’re sick of fighting impossible odds, and hence you are yearning for a change. ie. To win, for once.
It’s a valid stance. I don’t think any of us in CD would criticize you just for this, but painting it as entirely something else just makes us think you weak-willed. Just like those FA who so love to delude themselves whenever things don’t turn out the way they’d liked.

I am governed more than just myself, Running a guild doesn’t mean I always get what I want.
Just out of curiousity and being new to the tier, why the bad blood between CD and FA/IoJ?
I encountered a few FA hackers last night who flipped a tower, tried to flip a keep and another tower. And that left a certain bad taste in my mind. But 99% of FA seem like honorable opponents, and I haven’t seen anything particularly bad from CD yet.
Most of the bad blood on the CD side is probably because of the recent FA/IOJ merger.
Imagine you get to a new tier, fight with the same opponents for a month, and when you are really starting to dominate, and will soon move up, your two opponents merge onto one server, and then another server come into the mix. It’s slightly annoying.
Edit: lol at all the FOJs doomsaying trying to call a CD collapse. Sorry, we’re a tight-knit server.

If someone doesn’t want to stay on a sinking server, well w/e floats your boat.
Just don’t be double talking where I can see it or I’m going to call you out on it. Nothing personal, no ill will… just simple calling things as I see them. (granted I’m not perfect and will occasionally see things incorrectly. Though I highly doubt this is one of those times)
P.S. My condolences to you, Kylia for losing the vote. That always sucks but it’s nice to see leaders being good for the people instead of dictating.
As a member of kylia’s guild is say he is a great leader as far as all that is concerned, he gave those of us in the guild ample opportunity for input in to where we go or even if we go.
But calling things as you see them must be used rather loosely in your terms.. because we have blatantly been called bandwagoners yes? That would imply that we were following a bandwagon ie. All moving to a server that has had a recent influx.. if we went to say maguuma or kaineng (given their mass influx lately) I’d agree, we would be bandwagoners.. instead we chose to move as a community to one place.. re-locating and bandwagoning are two different things.
Yes we moved from a sunken ship but it was largely for quality of play for the dedicated WvW players. The players who did their best to get the massive IoJ pve community in to WvW, though that last ditch attempt just didn’t work.
So yes we decided to move, but to a community that would welcome our community as part of their own and one which we could all have fun on, rather than going somewhere with hour long queues.. or without overcrowding a low server and have weeks and weeks of boring play against servers that just don’t stand a chance.

I would like to confirm to all of our opponents that Fort Aspenwood does indeed double team you.
Sometimes just the ‘Fort’ part of our server attacks you, until the ‘Aspenwood’ part shows up from behind.
So yes, we do double team.
Imagine if FA had half it’s wvw pop and DB had about 2/3 of it’s current pop while CD had more than it does currently. CD had the pop to outzerg both FA and IoJ at the same time. All the while their forum warriors/trolls credited their winning fights by vastly outnumbering people to skill. CD as a top dog of a tier was insufferable to it’s opponents. There is a reason why the majority of the IoJ wvw pop that left went to FA. Not a single guild from IoJ that I know of went to CD. CD to tier 3 is kind of comparable to bullies and rich kids portrayed as main antagonists in 80s movies. Everybody hates them and it’s a real treat at the end to watch them go down in flames.
I don’t know where you got the idea that we’re cooperating to beat DB because we’re not. It may seem that way since you’re in T3 now and theres a lot more players around. Much of the FA wvw pop now is from IoJ like myself. We moved to FA in order to kill CD. I for one will when possible ignore DB players and attack CD ones. Theres been plenty of times i’ve jumped in on a db/cd fight, killed the CD and left. There is no way players would agree to not attack CD because they are the ones we want to see dead the most.
You were camped in the JP by us weren’t you?
yes we Dragonbrand don’t run from a fight if wer are outnumbered. we learned that long ago we can take some of you with us. before we go down or stop you.

I welcome smug comments from Maguuma because their posting is pretty good. We’re both comprised of a number of forum communities, and I’m pretty sure that the entire rivalry with Maguuma that previously existed was based on that, at least as far as FA goes; we pretty much know what they’re on about.
Someone asked why all the bad blood, so, a brief history of the grudge tier
The bad blood with CD goes back to a dolyak parade. Yes, really. Some individuals decided to have a roleplaying event wherein they designated a dolyak as nearing retirement. During the parade, they (as well as the dolyak) were randomly killed by some FA players. In retaliation, Tarnished Coast and Crystal Desert spent the rest of the reset openly double teaming FA.
TC and CD were less persistent in their double teaming in the subsequent reset for reasons that are mostly lost to history, but probably revolve around the fact that it was hard to capitalize on dolyak rage indefinitely. A reset or so later, TC had switched tiers with IOJ after an unfortunate decline by IOJ. CD became top of the tier following TC’s exit, and for whatever reason this made some individuals from their server compose posts that others disliked. (Or perhaps the posts were more noticable. It’s tough to say.)
Of course, FA and IOJ were also guilty of this, but due to the sheer frequency of posts coming from CD, (mostly from one person, mind you) they appeared to the other two servers as the primary instigator.
Those posts either accused CD of zerging, gloated about taking SMC or some random camp in EB, and honestly some posts were just weird and I don’t really know how to classify them.
Shortly thereafter, Arenanet announced the end of free transfers. After several of IOJ’s core guilds decided to move servers, a number of other IOJ guilds decided it was a good time to switch to a server where their coverage felt like it was making a difference. The obvious choice (although, as they note, others were considered) was one of the two servers where they knew that their time zone would make an enormous difference, i.e., the ones they were up against.
Each IOJ guild transfer had it’s own reasons and motivations, (and in fact not all of them transferred to FA) but it would be disingenuous to claim that the history and facts noted above had no impact on their decisions. In the immediate aftermath of the transfers, roughly five days ago I guess, a perception apparently formed among Crystal Desert denizens that it was in fact a slight on them.
Perhaps it was, perhaps it wasn’t; I don’t think it had any impact one way or the other on feelings between FA and CD. Many players want to feel the grudge, so they’ll find something. Ultimately, the original cause all tl;dr’s down to “some guys killed a dolyak and now we are at war forever.”

CD got no hate with FA, its the bandwagoning IOJ who practically trying to imbalance T3 that CD hate
they will get their karma come T2 if they made it there,
then they will become the whipping boy of T2
those server jumping IOJ will abandon ship again?
Everybody hates them and it’s a real treat at the end to watch them go down in flames.
here comes the kiddy forum troll
in case you didn’t notice,
CD wasn’t first place/top dog in the first/2nd week , its was IOJ for 2 weeks,
until CD fight its way to first placecome the fourth week, when CD was first,

You mean when CD got transfers a couple weeks ago that nobody seems to remember?

Hello?!?! You never heard of Crystal Dragonbrand? :P
It would be Crystalbrand, or Dragon Desert… both sound kinda weird.

Why’d you quote me? I didn’t call your guild bandwagoners. When I mentioned the word bandwagon, I was referring to something that started 3 months ago. Follow my link from a few post ago to get what I’m talking about.
Now, about that nasty “calling things as you see it” thing, or point of view(pov).
I’m not going to specifically call your guild anything, I don’t know you people, specifically.
Take your pov and zoom out a bit for a second.
You and your leader keep saying “[go] from a sunken ship”, right? That implies “after the fact” or a reaction. What is the reaction to. Answer: People transferring off of IoJ in droves.
So yes, you are correct. You did not bandwagon onto the servers you mentioned.
However, you did still band up on the “leave IoJ” wagon.
I’m not criticizing you(or your guild) for it nor am I judging you; to each his own.
P.S. I don’t know if this got lost in translation or something but I think positively of your leader for giving the guild an option instead of deciding for it.

No way! The BL will be flooded with PvEers looking for Shatterer.
Battle at the Bay video against CD was a blast tonight.
The dolyak thing was actually just an excuse by TC. After the “dolyak that was heard around the world” TC went and capped the entire FABL and said it was because of the dolyak. But after, they then went and capped the entire CDBL, so it was mostly just that they outnumbered us both greatly and capping is what you do in WvW. The same series of events would have occurred regardless of the yak being killed.

So epic. Tasty, tasty bags.

This is entirely wrong. Actually, the dolyak was not nearing retirement. There was no ‘role-playing’ involved in the sense where we were NOT pretending we were real yaks, or battle hardened escorts, or whatever. We just wanted to walk with it around the map, explode fireworks, then have a massive brawl. Also, the Dolyak and one escort survived and went all the way to its final destination.
One TC guild decided to camp FA – it just happened to be PiNK which is a very large guild. They had a commander and many members in the yak parade. In fact, in the screencaps from TC’s end, there were 6 commanders in the parade that I could see. And after they took the entire FA map, they came and took the entire CD map as well. My guild leader actually yelled at me for causing armageddon because they kept wiping all the maps during their primetime for several days afterward.
