Question for CD players: How does Kaineng compare in strength to CD in it’s former glory (last week)?

Yes Tandy, we figured that out. The last few weeks have been that way, but honestly there’s not much we can do about it right now, yet we still get forum flack for it anyway. Most of us took last week and the weeks before off after Friday/Saturday, or leveled alts.

However, please don’t make this thread another QQ fest about transfers. That horse has been beaten into the dirt already!

Yeah, I know it has. However, its still something that negatively impacts a lot of people on the other servers, so while I totally get why its a stale topic….its still a valid one.

Right now on YBBL we finally got cliffside, soon as we took it a treb started in from Astral….we go to see whats going on and find an easy 40+ zerg waiting and its gone in less than 10 minutes. At least we got it for a few minutes though I guess.

Still I dont get why the transfer situation happened in first place. Once paid goes in, everyone is really screwed on these “bandwagon” servers that will rise up to have as big of a queue as they all originally transferred away from. It would have been more logical for everyone to spread out across all the servers instead of concentrating back on just a few servers and just repeat the problem over again, but again thats logical and most times people never do whats logical.

Okay, so why did all these Guilds transfer to Kaineng from high population servers to a lower one, only to rise to a higher population and back up the tiers? Simple answer, as they have explained over and over – Better WvW Community. Let’s leave it at that.

And, I seriously hope YB folks do not simply go back to PVE this week. Last night was fun and fairly evenly matched where I was, at the time I was on. Please keep coming out.

Had some great fights opening night! Especially the part where we over extended and tried to keep Bay and Hills on YB BL. Lost both at almost the exact same time. Had to remind everyone we’re going to need to start sieging up stuff instead of going for the homerun shots!

Hopefully it works out for Kaineng then. In my experiences playing MMO’s when you get mass transfers it usually ends badly cause there is no “cohesion” or “server pride” I guess is better way to put it, and the littlest drama happens, it turns into a nightmare.

I can only speak for myself, but I dont play during NA primetime much or very often though, so for me its always off hours. Right now, off hours are just like last week….and its spirit breakingly bad. Combine massive numbers against you with most of the names I normally see online not around so its not organized either.

While the transfers might have been great for some people, try to remember the flip side of the coin…..and realize its very nearly crushed the spirits of some of the people your fighting against. I just hope YB can get back to normal next week, I dont like PVE much and dont do it that often, and I wont pay for a transfer after all of this time being on YB since day 1 of headstart, so I may just move on to greener pastures with another game.

Hoping this week wvw will end faster to have a better matchup.

Instant server transfers up and down a supposedly competitive ladder system for WvW is just ridiculous.

It’s too bad that Arenanet made a solid game overall and then hobbled it with such a huge design flaw.

I can understand server transfers for a week or even a month after starting a new account, but to still have this happening week after week after week is fairly poor basic game design.

This is the largest problem with timezone imbalance. Ticking +650 overnight isn’t just boring for the oceanic shift (on both sides), it also skews the gameplay and point ticks of an otherwise closely matched NA shift.

From a neutral start, K/YB/CD fought to a roughly steady 300/250/150 PPT equilibrium for the first 7 hours. But that distribution will probably never be reached again this week because the Kaineng’s Oceanic shift sets the subsequent shifts up with fully upgraded structures.

I feel the same way. Defending a wooden tower with 5 people and no siege against a 50 man zerg gets old really fast, and I’ve never been a PvE gamer. I’m going back to SC2 for now and will probably check back in a month or so to see if WvW is any better.

In a way kinda wish Anet held off on paid transfers for another month or at least till Kain or Mag made in to t1 or 2 cause I believe all the band wagoners would have jumped ship again.

I had fun last night in Kain`s Borderland I have to admit you guys have unique way of placing segie like on a boat and in that corner where the dam and the cliff in the bay. But sadly that may have been the last good battle in this match up with the score being what it is now. CD asain/ocean crew was the only hope I saw that would`ve kept the score even.

Anyway good luck to ya Kain hope your bandwagoners don`t leave your server once you hit the top and if they do hope its evenly spread through out the tiers.

Many on Kaineng were used to losing before the transfers and our subsequent rise. I feel confident that it will work out for us, but it remains to be seen.

As I said, Kaineng actually has a very good WvW community and in fact has always had a higher than average WvW participation vs PVE from what I understand. This is what attracted other Guilds to begin with.

All I can say is; everything remains the same over and over, until it changes. I am hoping Kaineng is the server that breaks the “usual” cycle.

Sounds like you are in a bad time slot yourself, so I can definitely see why that would be no fun for you personally.

Having said all that, here’s hoping for more fun back and forth battles with YB and CD today! I’ll try to stay away from your thieves! You Thief are “very very very bad man!” shakes finger

Yes, the people who have been there from beginning aren’t likely to move and some of the guilds that have transfered there aren’t the wishy-washy types that give up at the first sign of resistance.

Of course, you have had some of those types transfer to your server but you can’t help that. I don’t think they are a significant enough part of your population to cause a DR-like crash. At worst, I see Kaineng settling in somewhere in the top teirs.

On behalf of Kaineng I’m terribly sorry that we are ruining your fun. Unfortunately no one intended this to happen. Of course we all knew it would. But when you hate your WvW community and see a server that has a VERY strong WvW community I understand the temptation and I hope the people who constantly keep bringing this dead horse back to life can realize that too.

Anywho. Looks like next week we will definitely meet the competition where we belong. So again I apologize but don’t let it bring down your morale. Keep fighting. Just rotate through the supply camps that way you all can at least get some karma/exp. And I get really annoyed when I have to retake camps lol

And that would be cool with us Oozo. Our Guild is a Kaineng original, and we generally feel pretty good about most of the transfers I think. We have been on both sides, losing and winning. We aren’t a big Guild by any means, but we are well established, with a great bunch of people. We’ll always be here.

So Oozo, when are you going to join us here on Kaineng?

Yak’s, you guys are my favorite server we’ve faced so far. I remember back in T8 I admired this server a lot, you are a funny bunch. I’m glad to finally fight you. You guys are GOOD. I’ve never seen anyone defend a supply camp with so much ferocity. Last night you were trebbing Hills in your BL with 4 superior trebs. Me and my party ran down there to ballista them, but nope, you already had scouts watching for that. I love it, you always seem to be prepared and I think it sets you apart. And this is my impression after only one night of fights.

Kain, your response times are great so far and I like that I saw smaller zergs running around instead of 1 giganto zerg. Keep it up, but learn to scout because Yak’s will have that over us every time.

CD? I didn’t really see you. I’m sure we’ll meet sometime soon.

And the fighting was so fun and close last night before the server crash rolled me off and decided it was naptime. Ah well another week of seeing how that super super late night coverage decides things. Blah

Anyways, good fights to both Kain and CD before that though last night. Was having a blast. /wave to the guardian and warrior 2 man we fought outside the bay last night at one point (one was in that firey armor). We were the other guardian and warrior combo and quite enjoyed the mirror match duel we had outside that northern gate.

I totally agree with you Shaka. I didn’t see any huge KN zergs either, but then I rarely ever do. Perhaps it’s because of my time slot (west coast NA) or the fact I tend to look for the nice back and forth battles rather than following a huge zerg from gate to gate, I don’t know. However I am really starting to wonder if, perhaps, the often described “MEGA KN zergs everywhere” isn’t a slight exaggeration by some of our opponents.

Perhaps it’s somewhat like the stories the English used to tell about William Wallace (now popularly known as Braveheart), that he was a seven foot tall monster, swinging a gigantic Claymore that no other man could lift!

I hate that I’m losing because of powers beyond my control. I hate that CD is turning into a pve server. But I won’t jump ship. Because when you fight in wvw the people, the pugs, the other guilds you fight alongside with are your COMRADES. And you don’t abandon your comrades just to find greener pastures.

Thankfully I’ve been on Kaineng since I started this game.

Me saying I get “annoyed” when I have to retake my supply camps was simply just letting these servers know that there are still things you can accomplish. It won’t get you points to win, but it will get you fights. (Which seems to be the majority of complaints??)

I remember fighting Anvil Rock and they locked down supply camps with amounts of seige I have never seen before. That was fun.

You don’t have to attack my integrity, that’s getting you no where. Maybe using the word “annoying” wasn’t the right word to use.

I just don’t know what to say anymore. We try to be apologetic, give you all sympathy as we all know how getting steamrolled week after week feels (Rewind back to Kaineng’s T8 days). I haven’t seen the majority of Kaineng bashing the servers we steamroll so I don’t understand how you can justify complaining so much.

Go to the suggestion forum and post a suggestion of how ANet can fix this. That’s doing something proactive.

Well it doesn’t exactly get you ‘fights’. It gets you a huge zergball that steamrolls over your small group like an avalanche crashing down on a couple guys skiing.

Anyways, snippet from this morning. Looks like we may be in for a repeat after the oceanic crew handed the map over to blue, now that control is theirs the zergballs are free to start the spawn camping. Le sigh. Of course I only post spawncamping pics because I refuse to stop TRYING to fight, at least until I run out of repair money (because PvE isn’t enjoyable in the least except to get gear for a fresh 80).

Well where would we find them? Let’s try CDBL, maybe the blue zergball won’t be there for a few minutes.

I saw a few CD in our YBBL this morning and we had a nice 3-5 fight vs them. THAT was fun. Then a blue zergball appeared and wiped all of us out together, THAT was funny (seeing both yb and cd corpses lying on the ground together under the zergballs trampling mass), but not nearly as fun.

On that note, maaaaybe it’s a good day to do something else. Northern spawn of ybbl now has 36 Kaineg zerballers camping it so…. Planetside 2 anyone?

Good morning everyone, that was a fun long night last night, and appreciate some of the battles in YBBL, plenty of enjoyable moments and had the opportunity to run with many players last night.

This was the exact thought process we used this morning when I was running with 2 other guildies.

The main problem with these matchups is that they become landslides so quickly. An even match the night before becomes an untenable situation the next morning by the fact that you are now down X points, but the real kicker is that everything has been upgraded! In Daoc, my true love, keeps and towers actually lost some of their defenses when your team had more and more posts. If a team controls 90% of the map, the supply camps/towers/keeps etc should all be much easier to take. This will help the teams that are getting crushed come out and ninja a few things quickly and get a presence on a map before the mega zerg that took everything shows up (and why wouldn’t they show up, this is the only thing they have left to take!).

The way it is now, the losing server has to go outmanned into a heavily upgraded tower, drop as much siege as possible to take it as quick as possible, and then have a big zerg come steaming in behind them and taking it back easily. The losing team needs to have these keeps towers easily taken. Making things easier to take will allow them to take more than one thing, which will split the enemy force up into smaller, more managable chunks. This will give both sides better, more enjoyable fights.

Anet has done so much great with this game and I am sure they will keep tweaking things, but they need to make it much easier to get these losing servers back into the fight much faster than having to wait until next week when the reset happens.

And this is why i got xcom for the next few weeks.

Hey guys. Had a lot of fun in Kaineng Borderlands last night during reset. Our small group helped capture and defend many supply camps throughout the fight. Then we focused on defending Greenwater to help keep Hills supplied up after it was captured. We were doing great for a while, holding off large groups of Kaineng with the siege we had placed up on the hills surrounding the camp. Then it seemed Yak’s Bend wanted to come over and get a piece of Greenwater… which they did. At that point Yak’s Bend would flip the camp, then we’d take it back, then Kaineng would flip it, and so on. It was like Yak’s and Kaineng were coordinating their attacks against Greenwater! You guys really didn’t want us to have it lol.

Then it came down to the defense of the Hills Lord Room. It was pretty funny to have Yak’s bend on one side of the tunnel entrance, and Kaineng on the other side. We were hoping you guys would wipe each other out!

After seeing Kain, there is a lot of them. Too many for that matter. But their tactics (even those of WM) are severely lacking. It would be only due to coverage that they could get by the new FA because WM does nothing better than RET, BT or PiNK does up higher.

Yeah, maybe unless people on CD and SBI keep freaking out and transferring off. Yaks is really the only stable server population wise out of those three. IoJ could have easily been a tier 4 server, but they went through the same thing CD and SBI are and now look at them.

Yes Tandy, we figured that out. The last few weeks have been that way, but honestly there’s not much we can do about it right now, yet we still get forum flack for it anyway. Most of us took last week and the weeks before off after Friday/Saturday, or leveled alts.

However, please don’t make this thread another QQ fest about transfers. That horse has been beaten into the dirt already!

Yeah, I know it has. However, its still something that negatively impacts a lot of people on the other servers, so while I totally get why its a stale topic….its still a valid one.

Right now on YBBL we finally got cliffside, soon as we took it a treb started in from Astral….we go to see whats going on and find an easy 40+ zerg waiting and its gone in less than 10 minutes. At least we got it for a few minutes though I guess.

Still I dont get why the transfer situation happened in first place. Once paid goes in, everyone is really screwed on these “bandwagon” servers that will rise up to have as big of a queue as they all originally transferred away from. It would have been more logical for everyone to spread out across all the servers instead of concentrating back on just a few servers and just repeat the problem over again, but again thats logical and most times people never do whats logical.

Okay, so why did all these Guilds transfer to Kaineng from high population servers to a lower one, only to rise to a higher population and back up the tiers? Simple answer, as they have explained over and over – Better WvW Community. Let’s leave it at that.

And, I seriously hope YB folks do not simply go back to PVE this week. Last night was fun and fairly evenly matched where I was, at the time I was on. Please keep coming out.

To late… Being a long time Yak’s Defender I can tell you that we are absolutely a fair weather server, this is the one thing that has frustrated me the most about being on Yak’s. Most of our community will no longer log on to WvWvW, what you will get is the regular hardcore WvWvW crew which will put up a good fight but will not have near the number you experienced last night. By Monday we will be outnumbered on all maps except YBBL.

Even though this week we own mostly everything again its still fun because CD and YB are not giving up. Their zergs are really large and I think I was only running into their smaller zergs. So the map doesn’t stay blue constantly where we have to go around and ask ppl to fight us Don’t get me wrong fight club was fun! haha Regardless still can’t wait for a challenge, where Kain struggles again. I miss those days.

Sadly no matter where we go we still hear “Kain sucks they’re all numbers crap WM WM WM”. Sucks to have a smaller guild in Kain WvW now a days. Back in T8 us CNB guys made an impact…now we can hardly get onto the same borderland together or even put up our commander tags (well we can but its pointless). Some of you new larger guilds who transferred in should talk with us smaller guilds who have been fighting in Kain since the start….don’t just push us outa the action we worked so hard for. Don’t get me wrong we welcome you all, but kinda sad working so hard then being overshadowed and I’m sure my guild is not the only feeling this way ^-^

We’re still fighting, but have you seen the size of Kaineng’s ****? It’s HUGE!

Strangely enough, a group of Yaks came over to our BL instead of liberating their completely blue BL. Maybe they thought the music in CDBL is better. Or they got the Yak Parade date/venue wrong.

I’m going to give you a hint Kaineng. You know all this zerging you’re doing? It won’t win the higher tiers, at least not that easily. You guys make mistakes due to all the zerging that’s easy for a server with a similar or slightly smaller number of people to exploit. If CD still had the numbers we had 2 weeks ago, I guarantee you guys would probably be in second place or would not have a lead this big on either server.

I think people make the mistake that just because we zerg alot we dont use tactics at all. This could not be further from the truth. Most of us have been to T1 before. We know what its like. We know all the little tricks and where to place siege. For example CD was trying to treb the bay wall down from garrison last night. We counter trebbed the emplacements twice and fully repaired the walls. Our commanders put alot of thought into every move we make (at least the ones I run with do).

At this point when we own everything? Yeah it can certainly seem that way and in most cases its probably true. The zergs just go and flip whatever isnt blue.

Numbers certainly help us alot but that isnt the only factor we have going for us.

I wonder how much of us losing as bad as we are right now is due to the large list of guild transferring off last week, or whether it’s because we are up against Kaineng. My friends and I love WvW, and if this is how Crystal Desert is going to be performing from now on, then we might get the hell out of here too before paid transfers come up.

What happens if it’s something that just happens this week?

Can’t wait until kain matches up against legit servers (servers with there same pop). Be more then willing to put a halt to this bandwagon train (just look at Mag) . Get your gems ready for that server transfer next week up against DB.

Then it’d be due to Kaineng I suppose, haha. I just don’t want to risk being stuck on a server that loses constantly, and with a LOT of people gone, a decent chuck on them even going onto Kaineng, we might be losing for a while if we stay.

Then again, once this week is over and Kaineng hopefully goes away, maybe we’ll do fine.

Everyone should try to be respectful of each other on these forums. No matter what we do , there will always a few that talk down on other servers. I don’t know. Perhaps they think they are all that or that they get “off” on talking smack. Just enjoy the game, fight your hardest, and enjoy good combat (losing or winning). Right now, we all know that servers are imbalanced due to the free server transfers. In two – three weeks there will be new updates and more balance between servers as many servers adjust to their appropriate tier. Keep your chin up guys
