Saying “no” and “yes” does not change the fact that you just insulted every member of both losing servers. That implies that you consider yourself better than anyone on either server, which is the root of the expression “high horse”. Merely stating the contrary does not make what you say true and harmless, it in fact makes it even more rude and haughty, considering you don’t even think you’re doing anything wrong.

I also don’t care if you say you’re “far from the greatest”. Get off your high horse once again. I don’t for a second think that you’re “the greatest”. In fact, I’m assuming you’re VERY far from “the greatest”. The fact is that you just insinuated that you were better than anyone on both losing servers, and that’s something that’s not needed in a discussion thread.

Also @Jinks, In DB borderlands we had a small group defending whatever we owned against your 10+ man zergs for most of the day. We were killing them with ease until the numbers became too great. Also all the 1v1’s that my party and I came across we won. So I guess we can also say that EB has no good solo players. Right?

Dragonbrand I am not sure. Though true to rumors, they do have a good oceanic presence (well, compared to Ehmry’s nearly non-existent one). Henge suffered from a mass exodus and is currently in free-fall down the rankings. They will probably land in the last bracket.

We definitely do know how that feels. Ebay used to be at the bottom of the rankings as well as just coming off a one sided loss. But I can assure you it is more entertaining to play last weeks losing game than this weeks winning game.

Ehmry seemed to be pretty quiet for the most part, nobody was in map chat, but that was a spirited little defense we put up against your really impressive swarm of people. HoD also zerged their garrison tonight. For awhile it was a small group of players against like 40 HoG but we held on and ran supplies from other places to repair the gate, they couldn’t keep the few pieces of siege they built up. I might have played some role in that. Nothing like an insane elementalist willing to suicide sneak siege with armor of earth and arcane shield for a 5 aoe combo.

Impressive showing though. If you guys had zerged the surrounding area first we would have been toast. But you didn’t cut off garrison supplies or our reinforcements.

So I was being annoying at the back of a zerg with the 25% speed signet, a warrior was chasing me, he realized I was going to be annoying forever, so I stopped, and he stopped, and then I waved, and he waved, and we sat and emoted for a couple of minutes.

Even in the midst of war, you can always make a new friend. Manner up, gentlemen.

Dragonbrand, I spent the whole night in your BL, and I have to say it was a very, very interesting time with a lot of impressive skirmishes and moments of great sportsmanship. It was so awesome to see you out there in your lands in force, with a plan and with some real honest vigor. You had folks defending the most remote areas and patrolling in some really fearsome gank squads. Sometimes I was able to slip away and sometimes I wasn’t, but those chases were intense.

And on top of the great open-field skirmishes, there were moments where you’d wave at us and we’d wave back, and it was all in really good fun. Great time, folks, thanks.

EB guys… how exactly do you get the money for all this siege you’re using against us? I’ve seen at least 10 trebs, 5 golems and countless ballista and catapults destroyed, and yet more keep showing up.

That siege is probably thrown by our pugs. I know I am personally saving all my superior and regular siege for next week.
If there is one thing Ehmry does extremely well, it is throwing around superior siege everywhere.

EB is trying to wins this, and credit to them for trying. But seriously? This thread is EB saying how they will fight dirty to get to the next tier against enemy who put up almost no fight. The population of HOD (and ET) was devastated and has been dropping a tier every week ever since. “Destroy the morale of HOD and DB”, hahahaha. Sorry, but you are at least a month too late EB.

I saw that when JQ realised how HOD suddenly became, JQ stopped chasing small groups of HOD and let them cap camps so that they could take them back for karma/gold.

If you try playing only for wins absolute wins against a bigger server it will be EB instead who gives up fighting. Don’t sacrifice your ethics to get wins, you will not reach the top with that mentality. You need to develop a warriors mentality of fighting honourably to earn the respect you need to develop in PvP. I say this with the best of intentions. I have seen enemy zergs flee at the sight on an equally matched HOD zerg. Only because the enemy knew that HOD (used) to have the reinforcements and fighting spirit to overwhelm and that they should instead take defensive positions and try to hold on to what they can (not a winning strategy, 2nd place maybe).

We are playing a game where our duty is to kill you and take your stuff and you want to talk about having ethics? On that note, you also want to complain when we start killing you efficiently? On a non sarcastic note, destruction of morale is a legitimate strategy to use. That is all.

Had a one hell of a time trying to get around EBay last night. Great job holding your keeps on DBorderlands and pushing us back. I was leading the guerrilla charges against your camps while you were fighting off our main force at the garrison at one point and still managed to give my 20man squad a rout or two. Of course we gave it right back, but well done with the defence. Also HoD, I had the pleasure of assaulting your borderlands at one point and just wanted to say that Im glad you took it back once we swapped to our border to go against EBay. at least the points went to you folks.

The very fact that we’re “playing a game” means that there’s no need to be dicks about it. A “legitimate strategy” would be valid if there weren’t people who actually enjoy fighting against all odds. DB has been up against big numbers for quite a few weeks. Last week we were on top, but that doesn’t mean that due to our exodus of players to bigger servers hasn’t left its mark on us. Most of us left enjoy the fight because that’s what we do.

On that note, trying to “crush the morale” will not really work in a game where there are barely any repercussions for dying. It’s a valid strategy when you lose friends to war. In fact, all of war seems to be a big fight to get rid of the other side’s morale. No “war” has been fought where the losing side does not surrender eventually, because no one enjoys actually dying (there may be a select few, but they’re probably dead by now). Genocide exists, yes. But in terms of war, no. No side will be willing to fight until every one of them is actually dead.

In this case, then, the mentality of “spawn camping” is one merely borne out of the desire to feel powerful. The fact that people can respawn and come back immediately, but a group can “camp” them and shut them down immediately is not a “legitimate strategy”. In fact, you should realize that the mere fact that people can come back immediately very close by, while your spawn is on the other side of the map, is a huge tactical disadvantage to the campers. If there were even a semblance of similar numbers, the camping side would begin to flag and lose numbers as more and more drop and have to run all the way back, whereas the camped team has no end of reinforcements as they fall.

Spawn camping cannot last as a “legitimate strategy” for the mere fact of proximity. Why would you put yourself in the way of a potentially endless stream of reinforcements? Oh, right. This is a game. Repercussions for dying are minimal and free. Then keep in mind that this works for both sides. Yet, there are people who do leave when facing overwhelming odds, but the reasons when being spawn camped is usually “what kitten these guys are”. Does any group in their right mind want to build that reputation? Yes, we will defend ethics, because at the end of the day, no one is actually going to die. There will be repercussions on people’s opinions of one side or another. If one side behaved badly, that stain will be put on their reputation in the minds of everyone else participating.

Spawn camping is not a “legitimate strategy”. Please do not defend it. In any situation outside of a game, it would be the worst tactical situation that a leader could put their team in.

In other news, good job getting our BL back during the evening, DB, and good job on getting part of it back, HoD. Don’t ever leave just because you’re outnumbered. The fun is the fighting, after all.

The small group left in HoD will likely never quit due to being outnumbered, and with how well we keep holding Langor I can’t wait to see what happens when a few more fair weather players come on to help.

Oh man I’m going to have to save this post for after the CD vs Mag vs Ebay matchup. You have no idea how badly EBay is about to get slaughtered in that matchup purely by the numbers game.

Oh yeah, we will likely be crushed hahaha. But at least the next matchup will be fun. Camping in dominated BL’s is boring. I’ve been playing Borderlands 2, watching anime, and even played a game of DOTA 2. My Guild Wars 2 time spent is like half of what it was, and most of that PVE atm.

I know it’s a legitimate tactic and all, but it feels wonderful to get to the end of the jumping puzzle just to find the server that is crushing you at everything else camping. Well played Ehmry Bay, I hope you get some joy out of beating players while they are down.

I would like to congratulate my fellow Ehmry Bay players on a hard fight tonight to try and hold as much territory as possible against Henge and Dragonbrand. Though we are inevitably losing ground, it has been fun working in small, organized hit squads with you guys/gals.
On the other side of the coin, I would like to applaud Henge and Dragonbrand for their efforts to take back their territory in Eternal and Borderlands, respectively. It is great to see that all sides are still fighting the good fight and making this aspect of Guild Wars 2 the fun, three-way war that keeps me coming back.

I don’t like mud-flinging, or any of that, but I want to say that while attempting the Dragonband’s BL jumping puzzle this morning, two DB (thief and necro) and one EB (mesmer) actually teamed up to take me down on the point where you jump into the waterfall. I’d avoided them initially, since I like the puzzles and wish they weren’t part of the pvp-area, but having people from TWO servers team up to take down one person from HoD is kind of wrong. If you’re going to pvp in the puzzle, power to you if that is your thing, but DON’T be the person who groups up with the opposing side. Now, from my perspective, as an HoDer, you guys look like you’re collaborating. I’m not going to say you were, just that if you DO collaborate on an effort to take down another person TWICE, then you look like you’re collaborating in a more general sense and it reflects poorly on your servers.

I’ve had a great week so far fighting in HoD Borderlands, especially against EB, and now one silly mesmer from that server is making the rest look bad. I know all cannot be judged by the actions of one person… so I’m NOT doing that. This is just a general message that be careful not to collaborate and team up in that way because people will make assumptions that reflect bad on your server.

Edit: I should say that this stems from the HoD v. JQ v. ET match-up where there were accusations hurling around that JQ and ET were collaborating. I just don’t want another one of those situations.

To each server, it always seems that both opposing sides are “teaming up”. That’s the nature of a 3-way fight. It’s always a 2v1 from a server’s point of view. In reality, though, coordination between teams rarely happens. Certainly it could possibly be that three individuals from two different servers became buddies and partied up, but it will NEVER be the case that two servers actively work together to take down a third unless both teams are losing severely and decide to leave each other alone and focus on the big threat. I’ve seen so many complaints about being “double teamed”, but in WvWvW, it’s ALWAYS a “double team”. Each server works for their own end.

Again, while it may be that two people from one server and one from another decided to keep you out of a jumping puzzle, think about what you would think if the tag above the EBay character was a DB tag, or if the two DB players were on EBay? It’s no different. At the end of the day, every player is a person, and people can make friends regardless of server.

What you may not have seen is 10 minutes earlier where the one person from EB ROFLstomped the 2 DB people so they decided to let it go by the time you wandered by. Or 10 minutes after they were done playing with you where the 2 DB guys smashed the EB guy.
