GvG - A spectator sport?
I don’t think it’s a terrible idea… I would probably participate but I’d rather have 3
Faction teams appoint each other. And group specific sizes.
Ideally rather just have more people want to focus on beating other players
Via killing them / deathmatch rather than fight over some keep. Objectives ruin player vs player.
I would really hate to see GW2 turn into WoW Where people/guilds simply hang out in Lions Arch waiting for the next GvG match and ruin WvW.
For those who enjoy GvG, keep it in WvW where it belongs, lets not Trammelize GW2.

I can understand this attitude, but I have to disagree entirely, without objectives, PvP is little more than PvE to me, people just jump around more than monsters.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

There is zero adrenaline from killing mobs. Killing guys as good or better than you is much more gratifying and pumps the blood a litttttttle bit more man.
They could make it use Guild Merits as the cost to enter a GvG match. Have it as the old style GvG(lord kill, death count), use the bordeland maps but have all doors open add additional guards at each gate. Have it as a 2 or 3 way (1 lord in Garrison, for the 3 way) 1 in Bay 1 in Hills each team starts at the respective keeps wp and then has to either kill the opposing lord to win or have the least deaths by end of timer(can’t insta respawn when dead, 30secs timer after death). You could even add some interesting things like adding the orb to the north to give bonuses to the team that places it in their keep. Allow siege to be built(have it so theres supply in keep but limited by chocie at start i.e. 100-500). Just a few ideas, some ok some not so good.

Agree. If there were an actual GvG, it would destroy WvW.
There’s not enough people playing WvW as it is and GvG would just take more people away.
Have it laddered like in GW1 tournaments, you can only do every 3 hours and your score places you against similar skilled opponents.

Saint, I would say, if it were up to me that if you made it every 12 hours on a per account basis then agreed, fire it up.
Then people could treat it like a daily event, something they could look forward to without destroying WvWvW.

I just don’t get that adrenaline rush anymore from deathmatch games. I really wish I did. Pretty much the thing I can play DM on anymore is Battlefield and I haven’t touched that in months.
Something is probably wrong with my brain :P

Fighting a good player that thinks on his feet requires you to think on your feet and be a good player.

GvG isvery important, because before Anet put it in place they must balance professions 1st. We all have a beter game.
i can see GvG working if the guilds being fought aren’t from your home server. otherwise it feels like you’re taking away from the war effort in WvW.

A, the good player, a mythical creature, once roaming the lands of border, long ago, in a galaxy far far away…. lol, I see what you are saying, I just can’t get into pointless PvP anymore these days.

There could be different types of competitions set up. i.e- Say a best of three rounds match, where first you defend/attack a tower, then switch. If tie-breaker is needed, open field. Maybe also limit the amount of supplies for siege rounds. Would make for some pretty interesting strategy options imo.
Port GW1 PvP to GW2 and we’re good.
