Q: Can the game survive with all the hacking?
I haven’t met any hackers myself (that I could tell of, anyhow.)
Although I think there should be a report feature that allows you to tell them how the person is hacking, or at the very least report them for hacking.
Yeah ANET would help themselves out a great deal if they allowed us to report hackers more specifically. Sometimes it’s difficult to get a screenshot that really shows what’s going on.

O hai thar Maguuma commander. I’ve actually been hearing talk about a lot of DB hackers (haven’t seen any, and those reading please do not judge the entire server based on a few bad apples’ decisions) lately from FA’s side.
I’m curious how often you play WvW? I’ve put in an insane amount of hours and seen dozens of hackers in my time playing this game. Ranging from:
Speed hacking: (10+ teleports in the span of a couple seconds to get from 100 distance to 4000+ distance away from you)
Map hacking: having the ability to fly through the air over 600 distance above the ground. having the ability to constantly move in and out of walls, and under the map to destroy siege, contest waypoints and kill supply dolyaks.
Battle hacking: having the ability to instantly teleport to another location constantly, evading 50+ auto attacks with 50+ teleports in the span of under 10 seconds.
No I do not suffer from any form of computer lag, I run a GeForce GTX 670 card, and have 32 gigs of ram.
Lastly, when I see hackers from any given server… I personally don’t blame the server, but hope that when it gets brought up that they would help report players in question. I of course am willing to do the same in return, and unfortunately, have.

I’ve played for a few hundred hours. Actually I take back my statement of having seen no hacks. I mean i haven’t seen any enemies hacking (mostly because I don’t pay attention; my class and build is terrible for chasing people down so I don’t even try). I did, however, see one of my commanders teleport from halfway between speldan and anzalias to anz in what seemed like less than a second.
I whispered someone about it and tried to report it but there was no “report hackers” function, this was before I knew that you were supposed to submit tickets.
Yeah I would really appreciate a report hackers function
Like our RL world, WvW is too big to fix
There will always be “bad” people/players that exploit the system for the fun of breaking the rules.
Anet can fix any issues as they are a talented bunch, however the TIME it takes is the real issue.
The response is slow because of dollar costs and effort required to research, redesign, and implement the fixes.
Currently, they do work arounds to fix the hacks – just banning accounts of reported hackers… removing the Orbs when people hacked to steal them…
After these hacks are fixed, there will be more hacks; rest assured. = Never ends.
The only solution ? – MONEY
Hypothetically speaking, if someone said @ anet: " I will pay one million dollars to the first programmer to fix the speed hack " – the issue would be resolved in a week or less
EVERY issue would be fixed in a week or less
Money is the limiting factor, not know-how. I mean jesus, THEY MADE THE GAME, they can fix anything wrong with it:
Culling = MONEY = faster/more servers
QUEUES = MONEY = faster/more servers
etc etc
Of course, the game would cost $500 but it would be flawless – Guaranteed !
I wouldn’t mind paying a monthly fee to play WvW if the culling was greatly improved and the hacking was better dealt with.

Speed hacking is the most common hack I see, and there
is also one that allows you to teleport to anywhere on the
map.
We had this at our citadel this morning .. likely just a bug … cough.
Even if it wasn’t, not sure what was hoped to be accomplished, lol.
Q: Can the game survive with all the hacking?
Yes. Look to games like Lineage 2, they lived many years before going F2P, and had a ton of hacking, botting, scripting, ect… even in PvP.
(Not saying its doing well but it lasted for years with people doing things that shouldnt have been done.)

- Zoom hack. Basically you use the zoom hack, put up an arrow cart outside a keep, zoom out and then you can hit things inside. Things you normally wouldn’t be able to hit without cheating. And therefore defensive siege is kind of useless.
- There are other hacks being used as far as I have heard of.
It’s not really a hack. Hell, it’s probably not even an exploit. Arrow carts don’t require line of sight. It’s just how they’re (poorly) designed.
Arrow carts are terrible the way they are now (people holding off a group of 50+ and destroying any siege they build with 4 arrow carts and nothing else from completely out of the range of retaliation, people camping inside the lord room of hills with relatively few arrow carts and holding people off for hours after they should have essentially already taken the keep, etc.).
It’s not really a “zoom hack”, but I’m all for requiring line of sight on them like almost everything else in the game. Being able to turtle inside a keep with a small handful of essentially indestructible arrow carts destroying all opposing siege is silly.

No his point is that there actually IS a zoom hack which makes arrow carts even more of a pain then they already are.. Do a little google snooping I’m sure you can figure it out.
