Alright, now that I have successfully derailed the conversation, (and have become the envy of everyone) we should get back to how horrible the Glicko system is, and how it pales in comparison to STDs.

I would prefer Glicko, myself.

If the Glicko system allows me the tons and tons of badges and kills that I get from ET then I am all for it. The sad thing is that ET outnumbers FC by some really substantial numbers but they are hovering at the same score right now.

Well, Filthy: I’d have to say that is because -in general- FC’s been dealing with the T8 biz longer. We’re sneaky mofos, and accustomed to having to go shadow-warfare on folks. Note, this is nothing against ET. Fact is – I’m seeing recently why they were higher Tier. Some of their guys get decently tactical.
In the end, however, you’re all targets to deal with. My only issue is I just wish we had
the same kind of hella fun fights we had the first couple of weeks

Facing JQ would be different but it would not be fun. You would never leave your spawn. How would that be more fun?

In TC when we face a T1.5 server that drops down, we are dominated for a week. I cannot imagine that you guys would even be able to get out of spawn on any map at any time for a week. Facing 30+ JQ outside your spawn on everymap while they tick at 600+ all week would be totally demoralizing.

That was funny. If you thought that was going to phase me, you thought wrong, ET and FC already have 30+ Zergs camping our spawn points courtesy of SF. We just fight back enough to prevent them from getting 600+ a tick.

They’re a tier 2 server and they steamrolled everything up to and including tier 3. And tier 1 is a whole other plateau above them.

If you’re pretending to think tier 8 would even be able to hold a single tower against Jade Quarry then you are the one who is trolling.

What I am saying I do not fret over any match up, even one that would pit ET against JQ, especially if it would be better for the game overall. In fact I would welcome it, and find some good in it.

In the end, we have a problem with the tiers caused by Free Transfers, if fixing that means that a match up as lop sides as ET facing JQ happens, I do not fear that. And, I don’t get why anyone else would.

What’s the worst that will happen, you get a little slice of humble pie for one match up? You fear that, the truth is, you dearly need it.

I WvWed every day through a guild exodus when Dragonbrand was lucky to tick +100 at the very top of its primetime for a solid two months (This is a guess, it happened in the fall. Correct me if I’m wrong) So continually implying that I’m afraid to lose is largely pointless.

But there is simply no way to fix tier 8 without breaking other tiers. And I am confident in assuming that the majority of players would rather have fair matchups than new ones every week. I’m sure everyone would LIKE new matches every week, I certainly would, but it’s not feasible here.

With how hard it is to achieve any sort of balanced matches as it is now, if the system were any significant amount more volatile it would begin to make it highly unlikely in any tier that you’d see a fair match in any way.

I certainly would not mind if a few small tweaks to Glicko were to occur.
Like putting a ratings floor and cap in tiers 8 and 1 respectively.
Adding a limit for amount of consecutive weeks servers can win by a certain margin before moving up a tier/a limit for how long a server can be demolished for before falling.

Both of those things would help tier 8.
I’m not like, maliciously trying to make tier 8 stay down in the abyss so I can laugh at it or anything. I just think it’s ridiculous how many members of tier 8 are advocating ridiculous systems overhaul (Like WULD, for example, though that’s not at all for this thread) that would destroy the entire ladder and not even fix their problems.

How would the other tiers get broken? In short order everyone that belonged together, would end up together.

In fact the numbers would be more accurate then they are now, because they would not have gotten warped by Transfers, which affects all servers, so potentially, everyone would come out ahead.

Oh…oh my! SF got up to a final score 402K. That’s a point spread of 296K points between 1st and 2nd place. And is a larger point spread than what we saw in the 2/15-2/22 match-up (252K spread). When we “underperformed” the following 2/22-3/1 match-up (by “only” winning by 127K points), we lost 52 rating and was second from the bottom when it came to the NA score deltas (i.e. we very nearly lost the most points out of all the NA servers).

I’m willing to bet that at the end of this week’s match, Glicko will yet punish us with a large rating decrease again next week for “underperforming.” Because really, how realistic is it to expect us to meet or beat a 296K point spread?

There should be three EB maps – and only three EB maps. Until Anet does this, WvWvW will continue to be un-balanced. They problem lies not with the math, but with maps.

I’m not trying to sound rude or pretentious. Its just our WvW coverage is massive in all three servers (minus SoR) and you will see practically no downtime around the clock. Being constantly hit in WvW will and does deteriorate a server and kills morale of guilds. People have probably heard of our stacked servers constantly fighting each other. Its true, and if you have any gaps in your coverage, we will take advantage of it to every extent possible. T1 is only a place to be in if you really like constant competitive WvW, non stop. For our servers to survive up there, we’re constantly in WvW.. You get no breaks up there. I am in awe, but I see why you are are indeed 1st place, when I see the words of the commanders like this. I have a new respect for you, and for JQ as a whole after reading this. This is truly what winning with grace is all about.

If the game got reset, and we were pit against each other as the numbers sorted out, I can say I would be a privileged to lose to you and yours, and hold no illusion we would have a chance

Having stacked servers is definitely one aspect of it, I’m not going to deny that. But having a very active WvW community on top of this and being competitive while enjoying what we do is also a huge factor

i think you are misinterpreting “wanting to call yourselves winners” as “being competitive”.

I most certainly wasn’t offended. And please know I wasn’t purposefully trying to antagonize you or embarrass you in any way. I was mostly taking the “O.o What the what is going on here? And I think all of us WvWers are a might bit stubborn. It’s what draws us in and keeps us playing in the best and the worst of circumstances.

WvW is not sPvP. Perhaps in open field combat they may find themselves at an advantage, but not in all aspects.
