Is the slowness of the Charr running animation bugging you?
That is true the animation itself could use some speeding up.
Compared to Asura running next to you it’s like watching a slow-mo movie. Please increase animation speed by 25-50%

Eh. I think the slowness of their movement makes them feel more powerful. I remember seeing this animation done ‘fast’ in WoW with the worgen. And they looked like hyperactive hamsters. I don’t really want that look for the charr. So -1, I guess?
The Norn running animation is also slow…I think it’s designed that way simply because they’re bigger characters. Of course, we could have a foot race between all five races to confirm!

Well, if they are moving any quicker and covering the same distance it’s going to look stupid. As all races need to move at the same speed for there to be balance (the charr would in reality be a lot faster) they need to appear a bit more sluggish due to their size.
When compared to an Asura, who is tiny, they require a lot more footsteps to match the stride of a Charr. The animation looks fine as it is, when you get a swiftness buff I like to think of that as a Charr’s natural speed and the normal run as just a slow calm pace.
So I say keep it the way as it is and just imagine it is your chill pace and when you receive a speed buff that is your normal run ^^
Nah. I love my Charr Warrior. He doesn’t actually move any slower than other characters.
This issue from my point of view is that alot of people who find the running animation for the Charr too slow “usually” have set their character to the largest body proportions. Mine isn’t overly bulky or tall and the issue is reduced significantly.

My character is small for a Charr and female, but its the same problem.
I love Charr, first character I rolled and I love them but my god…they just…run…too…frakkin…slow! Even with my 10% speed boost as a ranger I feel like I’m in slow-mo. Something as big and strong as a Charr, especially running on all fours should be running a hell of alot faster, it feels really off. I think at the very least the animation itself must be sped up.
I currently solve this by always slotting signet of shadows on my thief, the 25% increase in movement speed makes them look natural when they bound.
Make your character a short Charr, the running speed is the same for all characters. But the bigger you are the slower your animations are because your clearing more space with your movements then a smaller character.
I found +10%speed made Norn bearable, and +15%speed or more really helps the Charr so even a 10% speed boost to the animations would help.

That “+1” adds even less than the “useless text”.

I know exactly what you mean with this—and yes, it was bothersome at first. For contrast, roll an Asura—the animation feels very well matched to the distance being traveled. Why is that? Short little legs.
The Charr are significantly larger with a long stride, and thus the movement feels like it’s in slow-motion. I think the Charr “jog” animation looks pretty believable, but at the point that our character drops to all fours, we really expect he should pick up speed and run.
Speed boosters do help. I’m hoping for some kind of buff in the future akin to a mount that allows for semi-permanent increases in running speed.

They don’t run slow they just have a wider stride than human/sylvari characters. Norn also have a wide stride and seem to run slower. Asura on the other hand seem to run quickly but that’s just because they’re smaller and have shorter strides. It’s just a matter of perspective of your characters size. They’re all running at the same speed but it just seems slower or quicker based on the stride of the characters overall size.

No, they shouldn’t, because if that were the case and races actually had advantages over each other, everybody would be rolling a Norn or a Charr for the speed advantage over the other three races; especially in sPvP where everything is supposed to be on a level playing field.

Oh it definetly bugs me, My brain knows that the speed is the same, but after my level 80 asura, to a Charr it feels sloooow. And Norn feel like a “jolly giant” walking slowly becasue he may trip himself. Im getting used to it though.

Exactly right.
The speed among all races has been normalized, so the Asura run fast as hell to cover the same distance we Char do in a single bound, but we have to only cover that small distance so we aren’t faster than our diminutive friends.
If they speed up the animation, they either have to increase our speed, which they won’t do, or the animation will look wrong. So what people are really asking is that they reanimate all our locomotive animations which also will not happen.
I am fine with our animations myself. I love how we use our arms and legs to run.

Because censorship is the most important part of the MMO business.
Since all characters of all races and sizes run the same speed, this is where the silly people who make their already tall Charr character as tall as possible get punished for it. If they sped up the animation without speeding up the actual run speed, it would look silly, as your animation would make it look like you were going much faster than you really were.(as if your claws had no traction on the ground) And since they can’t make tall characters run faster than shorter ones, as it wouldn’t be fair, I’m satisfied with how my Charr characters run. It would look less slow if they made them run 2-legged style, but that would suck. I love the 4-legged run style for flavor.
If they are running on 4 paws, they look more relaxed.
They never run on 4 paws when they are in a fight.
Looking it like that it would fit that it seems slows.
Although it would be neat if you would run faster, but like they said above: it wouldn’t be balanced, than they need to make something like that for each class
