Myself and 3 guildies were recently banned at exactly the same time after farming in frostgorge for about 15minutes. We were running in a tight pack but our group was not 4 rangers but 1 theif 2 necro’s and 1 engi. None of us recall getting a tell before the ban and we were in the process of fighting a champion troll when the ban went out. I am extremely confused as to why and how we would have been tagged as bots to be banned. I am sincerely hoping that we were not reported by an angry player mad that we were killing mobs too quickly.

Just my two cents I guess, same issue as everyone else..bought it on official site, got banned later accusing me of using stolen serial keys etc etc. Below is my info,

Do not see any charges on my credit card for this purchase. Nothing pending or listed reflecting so.
Received an answer, which says “This resulted in the serial code and game account to be permanently closed”.
Does this mean that I can not use a new serial code with this account to restore my characters? Do I need to create a completely new account?

I would like to look into the few cases where you, personally purchased the game from buy.guildwars2.com and then experienced an account closure.
I don’t want to hear from those who bought from a third party who claims to have purchased from our site. I don’t need to hear from people who did a charge-back or asked for a refund. I would very much like to hear from someone who bought the game from buy.guildwars2.com using a legitimate credit card and then found his/her account terminated.

Well, they won’t even respond to my ticket anymore. They just gave me the fraudulent serial message they’re sending other people even though that’s completely false, I’ve given them the billing info of the CC used, and all the other info but now they won’t respond so this company has just stolen my money.
I bought the game directly from them and have been charged.
This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever encountered in 10 years of gaming. They have some problem with their store and their security yet they put their paying customers on trial and leave them forced to beg for their money back.
Absolutely ridiculous.

My account was banned in 10th of November, about 2:30 in the morning while i was chasing a red guy in WvWvW. And i got accused of botting. Is it wrong to decline the party invites or not social enough? I was in Cursed Shores events "Shelter Gate and the camp across the tunnel and sometimes escorting the Scholar NPC and going to Jofast Camp whenever i see it’s on and the Shelter Gate’s event is not starting yet. Is this enough to accused me of botting? I sent ticket and got no reply and i am still waiting for it. I read their Rules of Conduct again after the ban to look if i might have done something that is not legal. So far, i couldn’t find any beside the ones i mentioned and that’s not in their rules.

Dude relax, he was trying to investigate the issue at that moment and he was right about writing `official store only`, cause people are not easy to communicate in here. However, still I bought the game official store yet I’m in a position in worst then ‘bad third party seller’.

Yeah, except in many peoples cases, including mine this is completely inaccurate. I bought my game from them, and the credit card was perfectly valid. So the only thing fraudulent here is a game company selling people games then not delivering and keeping the money. They’re robbing people and the support blames the users. There’s no further help except that it was purchased directly from them with a valid card but they “encourage” me to buy another copy?
Unbelievable.
This is obviously a screw up with their online store and their security and they need to just own up to it. I know there are fraudulent people out there, and botters, and people apparently stealing copies, but banning all of your users with no investigation then blatantly misdirecting support requests, denying them outright and blaming your users so you don’t have to take responsibility is obscene.
The only actual person trying to help is Gail here on the forums but she/he is limited on what they can do. The people working for support are just passing customers off like they don’t matter, and robbing them is ok by arenanet.

This is the error I get so it is most likely the payment, and like me you were also charged. But the best way is to put in a support ticket and they’ll tell you the reason they plan on ignoring you. It may help, may not, some people seem to get helped but it’s random at best.

I think with some CC’s if the original processor doesn’t accept the funds within a certain amount of time the Pending charge may drop and funds would be returned to the card. I do believe you are onto something with billing tho Gale. At least for a percentage of us.
I do know I used to have this sort of issue at Burger King – anything purchased on a card over the weekend would usually take so long to settle the bank restored the funds to available (luckily, even when this caused me to go negative after the funds did come out, the bank never charged me overdraft )

Sorry, that’s now the way it works. I am one person trying to gather information that may help many players. If you have information to share, you can post it here if you wish or naturally your ticket will be reviewed and your situation handled to the best of our ability. I simply do not have time to engage in a PM conversation at this time.
Now, I’m one of the people who was wrongly banned for botting. And I would like to say that I know customer support is expensive. But, what does it cost to handle a situation and handle it well? And to treat people with respect? You know, I really feel like the people that have been wrongly banned are being treated like the enemy. And that really leaves a bad taste for people. People can pick that up, and when people try for days to communicate their problem and hear very little back, they just become apathetic and decide, forget this, I’ll just go somewhere else for my happiness. This is your mess up Anet. Either you have some type of automated system that went wild and banned a lot of people for no reason. Or maybe, It was an actual person who went wild? But this is honestly what I think happened… I think the botters are a lot smarter than they were given credit. And THEY are the ones actually reporting players and causing them to get banned. But why? Maybe they want Anet to focus all there time fixing a massive issue than deal with bots? What really should be done at this point is to just remove all bans, and give everyone there accounts back, bot or not. This way of dealing with bots has failed. There are to many ways bots themselves can manipulate the report system and get innocents banned. Again, this is just my opinion. And, I get it, I understand what the personal issue with bots Anet has is, if people were to buy gold from a farmer, they wouldn’t be buying it from the Gem Store. Well, I’m pretty sure after this a lot of people won’t be buying anything from the Gem Store again.

Ymindalor, it’s highly unlikely that playing from the same IP address will get you banned in any half-decent online game. By highly unlikely in this case, I’d say you can be 99.9999% certain ANet will not ban you for this alone (and the only reason I leave the 0.0001% out is because I don’t work for ANet so I can’t be fully certain).
Because of how rapidly Internet has grown, which lead to IPv4 address exhaustion (you might want to google it for more information) it is actually extremely common for multiple clients to use the same external IP. So common in fact that hundred of users of smaller ISPs use the same external address, especially in some countries/regions (again, look at IPv4 exhaustion to understand why exactly). Because of that, there is no way ANet would base their bans on only IP address.
Might the shared IP address be a factor in their algorithm that looks for possible bots for hand-check? It very well might be but it’s definietly not a sole or most important one.

The most frustrating aspect (besides my ability to enjoy the game this weekend) is that it is glaringly obvious that there is a problem on their end, yet no official statements have been made. I am certain this is well known at Arena net and the decision to not publicize their billing issue is most likely to not affect FUTURE sales. This is absolutely the wrong decision and unethical. Man up, admit you’re working on a problem and you wouldn’t have pissed offed what appears to be a decent percentage of actual customers who were excited to join the game.
Most companies, if they ever do, don’t release the kind of statement you’re looking for until they know what is the issue.
After all I read I cannot believe that there is no auto-bans…

You will not find the sullotion for your problems if you don’t treat your customers the way you want to be treated.
You send a mass-mail to all tickets for the same reason and you don’t seem to check any of what I wrote to my ticket.
I asked for a question and the support closed my ticket because it was dublicated (as they said) but It wasn’t. I asked something and they just merged it with my previous question just because they didn’t gave some time to read it…
So you tell me how I can spend money again for you?
You want only few people to play your game? You want your project to fail?
Because that’s what most of us understand with that kind of treatment…

Absolutely. Buying a new game..creating a new account and again get banned by something you’re not aware of is like a nightmare to me. My character has 73 Glob Ectoplasm and 42 gold after 4-5 days (over 10 hours a day since I’m jobless at the moment) farming in an events. It’s a waste and starting a new is absolutely not my style. My neck, shoulder, my arms and my fingers is hurting. However, when i check my inventory and look the stuff i got I was happy. My hard work paid off now i can buy the weapon i want and can craft my exotic set..lol… and BAM… got banned.

Took me about 3 days to get a response and then my account was back up a day after that so you should hear something soon. Unless they are banning so many people now that there’s a back log of tickets starting to build up that they just can’t get through.
There’s something very wrong with the system Anet are using for it to flag up this many players.

I (respectively) disagree. When you have a major on-going issue affecting hundreds and potentially thousands of players over the past week, you want to give them some confidence they ARE looking into the issue. Without a response, you begin to feel like we are not even a priority even though we have mostly all followed their ToS and paid for legit copies. PR Damage control is getting ahead of the message before your enraged customers.

Hi everyone, first have to say that I’m not just post this for complaining stuffs but I just have a question.
My ID got suspended twice already by accusing that I was selling gold. I know that I got hack for sure cuz first time I used stupid password that I use in every game.
then after second time I changed everything just like support team told me.
but still… I got terminated this time… not sure if I got hack again or something wrong.
most of ppl I see on this forum they got banned cause botting many of them get it back by the time but in my case is different.
I’m afraid that they might really think that I’m one of those seller…

This may be a bit off-topic as i have not gotten a ban or anything close i just wanted to say that i personally farm more than any other person i know (900+ hours on a single char and probably 800 of that spent in Cursed shore farming same spots.)
That being said i act bot-ish and have been reported as a bot in most games i played simply because i jump a lot – and i jump in an order (since im so used to jumping) will take mostly same paths and so on. I’ve not had a single problem since the start make it botting/hacking whatever.
Just saying that i clearly believe i’d be in the wrongfully banned wagon if they had such a huge mislead in thier banning as some claim. There are wrongs done but i don’t believe it is as huge as some think it is. When they say you have been hacked try to trust them And it is a good sign you got banned even before you realise you were hacked.

^ you might be in the next wave. I have about the same /age and time passed in CS farming Like a machine, but not using one. And saturday night, Boom, banned for botting while farming Plinx.
Until they finally decide to communicate with us on this issue, which i doubt they’ll ever do, you can only hope to not be caught in the sweep everytime theres one.
This is what happen when a company choose to cut costs and make more profits over the quality of services.

I been out since the 9th, my original ticket still has no rsp, yet i see ppl getting there accounts back with a higher ref# than mine.
Ref #121110-000597, now i got no rsp so i went back, found the post on the proper way to address and I got this Ref # 121110-001459, to which i got a reply of we’re busy and it usally takes 48 hours or longer depending on the situation. That was the 9th and its the 12th that is 3 days no game, someone pls take a look at my account I am getting really fed up with waiting.

So, I got the game a few months ago from a web site called gamerkeys.net , it’s not the first time I used this kind of websites to buy game keys (even for steam, origin, etc…) and I never had any problem with any of them.
This time I got the key a few hours after the purchase (as usual) and played it for a couple of hours. Then because of school and personal life had to stop playing for about 2 months. Recently I found out that a friend of mine had the game and I decided to go play with him, when I tried to loggin a message comes up saying that my accout had been suspended because of “an account issue”. Imediatly I contacted the support and they told me that that key was purchased from their site using fake information therefor fradulently. After that I contacted the gamerkeys.net ‘s support and they sent me an email asking for information about the purchaseand I sent them everything, the same thing for the gw2 support as I sent them another email asking for any type of help because I’m not able to afford another copy of the game. I’ve been getting emails asking for the details I used on the purchase but nothing on how to recorver the account. If anyone went through anything similar and has some advice it would be really appreciated. (image of the error that I get attached)

I would like to look into the few cases where you, personally purchased the game from buy.guildwars2.com and then experienced an account closure.
I don’t want to hear from those who bought from a third party who claims to have purchased from our site. I don’t need to hear from people who did a charge-back or asked for a refund. I would very much like to hear from someone who bought the game from buy.guildwars2.com using a legitimate credit card and then found his/her account terminated.
I’m just wondering if I buy GW2 key from third pathy it automatically means that it was purchased through stolen card?? despite the fact that you banned so many people who have bought key from buy.guildwars2.com and you will not even try to
investigate our cases???

The most frustrating aspect (besides my ability to enjoy the game this weekend) is that it is glaringly obvious that there is a problem on their end, yet no official statements have been made. I am certain this is well known at Arena net and the decision to not publicize their billing issue is most likely to not affect FUTURE sales. This is absolutely the wrong decision and unethical. Man up, admit you’re working on a problem and you wouldn’t have pissed offed what appears to be a decent percentage of actual customers who were excited to join the game.
Most companies, if they ever do, don’t release the kind of statement you’re looking for until they know what is the issue.
Actually Riot Games (i’m just saying them cause league of legends was the last game i played before buying GW2 a few days ago) when they have a problem, they put a nice big banner on their game interface that would say something like “we are aware of the current issues with our billing system and are working to resolve them as fast as possible.” Which admittedly isn’t much but at least it tells you they know there’s a problem and are working on it. Whereas in this case if you didn’t dig around the forums you wouldn’t even know there was a problem and would think that you had just been scammed $60. So…yeah a free-to-play game has infinitely better customer service than this joke…not to mention they actually interact with you on their forums and post hourly updates when they’re working on an issue.

Maybe call your bank and see if you can do a charge-back on the purchase? It might be too late from that. I think all you can really hope for is that the website you purchased from gives you a refund or a new key. It would be surprising if you actually managed to get that original account re-activated.
You might have just bought a $60 lesson about buying games from legit retailers instead of serial number re-sellers. Also, beware of guys selling perfume/CDs/DvDs out of the trunks of their cars at gas-stations and guys selling speakers out of vans.
