My account has been terminated because Arenanet determined that someone had “used stolen credentials then sold or transferred that account to [me].” I have several questions regarding this decision.
I used my father’s credit card to buy my digital copy of Guild Wars 2, do I have use my own credit card (non-existant, at the moment) or face account termination?
Is there anyone who has been playing for a while (I had my account for 3 days) that bought the game using someone else’s credit card and has not faced this issue?
What’s to stop someone from walking into gamestop and using “stolen credentials” to buy a physical copy of GW2 and then selling it to their friend or someone?
How can I get a refund on my purchase? I’d rather not believe that I spent $60 to play 3 days.
Yeah, I’d love to buy a physical copy of Guild Wars 2 and avoid the joke that is their support service, but I have a mac and apparently only the digital copy is available.
This isnt that hard of a question. First ask your dad is the game still charged to his account. If it isnt then hes the reason you got banned. Check his account statements.

you and I have the same problem…. (While this fraudulently purchased account is closed, we encourage you to buy an official physical retail copy from an authorized seller or digital serial code at http://buy.guildwars2.com.
Unfortunately, there is no further assistance we can provide for this issue)
they are so helpful arent they!! can you believe this?!
If it really were fraudulently purchased in the first place they should took some kind of action in the first place. Now I just wasted 60bucks and month of a time.

They have pulled the same stunt on me as well. I purchased the game, with my own bank card no less, directly from their own website http://buy.guildwars2.com, and sent them their own confirmation e-mail back to them in the support ticket. And yet my account has now been permanently closed because the “BUYER” used stolen credentials.
Why in the world would I “buy an official physical retail copy from an authorized seller or digital serial code at http://buy.guildwars2.com.” AGAIN, just to have you pull the same stunt on me a second time? Fool me once…
well, you won’t get a second time. I’ve been a loyal customer and fan since GuildWars first came out, but I’ll be kitten if I recommend your games or waste my time with them anymore if you won’t even bother assisting your customers. They MMO sea has plenty of other quality fish out there.
do your bank statements still say you have been charged for the purchase?
All i see is ppl saying you got confirmation that you bought the game. Well of course you did. Else how would you have an account. The point is that after your purchase you either canceled the transaction or someone canceled the transaction or the money never made it to the seller, meaning you lost no money.
If you truely got these messeges then go check your bank statements make sure those transactions happened and you didnt get refunded.
There was a player on MMO champ who tried to pull some BS where he asked Anet for a refund then tried to still play the game and claimed Anet took his account away from him.

For those who haven’t seen. Go to the thread “Blocked/suspended/terminated — Players’ comments” Gaile has noticed there seems to be something up and is collecting information to hopefully help people. So go post there as well.

This is a late reply, but you could buy it at Amazon.com instead of guildwars2.com. Apparently, there’s issues with some people who purchased serials via the official store with CC not being charged.

submit a ticket and wait i guess, other then that check your dad’s cc history for any charge-backs, or not being charged at all, provide anet with as much information as you can in the tickets as well.

I bought a physical copy and has exactly the same problem as your.
I am having this problem too. This is ridiculous. About to just get a chargeback and be done with it.
It looks like there may have been an issue with the Billing System near the beginning of November, starting after they did some maintenance on the system on the 2nd. I would suggest to everyone that purchased around that time frame and is now suspended – check your bank statements to ensure the charge has gone through. If it has not, then ArenaNet did not get their money which is why the account is suspended. You’ll need to work with Support to get it rectified. If the charge did go through, you’ll also need to work with Support. Please note that if you put through a chargebank now, the account will be permanently closed and it may be unlikely that you will be able to repurchase the game later using the same card.

If you Google “charge.ncsoft.com dispute” you will find a ton of websites reporting about stolen credit card numbers being used to purchase NCSoft products. It could be that the CC issuing bank automatically blocked the transaction as a security precaution.
Here’s an example site: http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/ncsoft-florida-c261455.html
It might not be ArenaNet’s or NCsoft’s fault that the bank decided to stop the transaction.

Yeh, but shouldnt said bank contact the owner of said credit card if it detected such a purchase and ask the owner if he/she did indeed make such a transaction. It is my money after all and I chose to spend it on buying GW2.

I bought a physical copy and has exactly the same problem as your.
You can purchase the game through a physical retailer and get the Mac client – you can download either the Mac or PC client. Just use the serial code that comes with the physical copy to create your account, then download the Mac client.
I recommend avoiding the ANet store whenever possible. I bought my copy from GameStop, haven’t had any issues.
