Leader of Looking For Gandalf [LFG]
Worst Commander of Ferguson’s Crossing (Self Proclaimed)
So, bought 10 keys, opened 10 Black Lion Chests. Got some boosts, and went to stack them with all my others in the bank…but they will not stack with the old ones.
I was attempting to report this bug in game, but seeing as the bug report window is bugged with random numbers instead of categories and sub categories, well, here I am.
Could you give us a screenshot, or more specific information on which boosts they are? We’re having difficulty repro-ing. Thanks!
I have the same problem. 7 Crafting Boosters wont stack with another one and 7 Black lion Tiket Scraps wont stack with another one too.
When i try to stack them they just swap places. When i try to do it with “Compact” the single one get mad and start to move around in every bag.
In regards to the lion scraps, there is a difference in text. One says account bound, while the other says account bound on acquire.

Here is a screenshot from my bank with the same problem (ps: please give us some way to productively use these boosters there is no way in a million years I will ever actually use the 2,5 year backlog of them as is).
PS: none of those stack have obviously intentionally been split.
True.
Repair canisters, Trade Post and Box-o-Fun also have this issue. However my boosters did stack with my older ones.
The orange items would not stack with each other.
The Blue items did stack with older items.
Do Not Stack
Celebrations Boosters do not stack with older ones.
Bank Access Express do not stack with older ones.
Instant Repair Canisters
Box-o-Fun
Do Stack
Custom Arena Time Tokens do stack with older ones.
Strength Boosters do stack with older ones.
XP Boosters do stack with older ones.
Merchant Express do stack with older ones.
Black Lion Claim Ticket Scraps do stack with older ones.
Metabolic Primers do stack with older ones.

I have run across an issue involving a number of account bound consumable items not having the ability to stack with each other. I seem to have it narrowed down to items that have a status of “Account Bound on Acquire” not being able to stack with those with a status of simply “Account Bound”. In addition, it seems that in a stack, only one item is actually “Account Bound on Acquire” and that status can be changed by splitting the stack but there will always be at least one item remaining with that status.
Here is an example using blade shards. The initial status is Account Bound on Acquire
Splitting the stack creates 2 different statuses
Splitting all the way and leaving one item behind leaves only one Account Bound on Acquire item
In further digging I discovered you can combine multiple “Account Bound on Acquire” items and split them as well leaving one “Account Bound on Acquire” item at the end.
Example 1 Example 2
This seems to affect items that have been in the inventory for a while. In my case that means boosters, blade shards, fortune scraps, mystic forge stones, even old piles of bloodstone dust and dragonite ore.
The quick solution is obviously to split and use up the faulty items but with the limited space we have already, I hope this can be addressed. I also hope this isn’t a repost, I couldn’t find anything related to it.

Made some clovers, seems the ones you obtain from the 1x recipe aren’t stacking.
10x recipe ones are fine though.
I don’t know if it’s the 1x not stacking with the 10x or if they’re just not stacking at all.
If someone can work out the problem i’ll edit.

I tried to take a couple of screenshots showing the difference in text, but the actual text popups were not included in the screenshot.
As kaitou said, though, the new ones specifically say “Account Bound” at the bottom of them, while the old ones in my bank say “Account Bound on Acquire”.
That seems to be the reason they are not stacking.
The new ones I got that will not stack are Rejuvenation Boosters, Gathering Boosters, Experience Booster, Speed boosters, and Armor Boosters.
Adding to the nonstack list:
Revive Orbs
Mystery Tonic
[…] anything that says “Account Bound on Aquire” instead of just “Account Bound”
If you split any amount of items from the old stack they will be converted to the new itemtype, but I’m still stuck with 1x from the old itemtype unable to be converted.
If I port to a new map with the old items in my inventory they are all converted to the new itemtype.

Bug: Certian items are not combining stacks when manually prompted as they should. Items I have notice this with:
If you have such an item in your inventory, then obtain another, it gets added to the stack normally. If you have one stack in your bank and try to add to it with items in your inventory, however, you cannot. They keep swapping places instead, even when neither stack has reached 250. This still happens when you move the bank stack into your inventory and try to combine them there.
I am getting this annoying bug too with Essence of Luck.
Blade shards and Pristine Fractals are also no longer stacking
Edit:
Add mystic clovers to that list
(edited by Basket of Boxes.1976)
Any items that were Account Bound that now say “Account Bound on Acquire” in the description cannot stack with each other. For example, if you have Scrolls of Knowledge and you split some off, you can’t combine them again. There are other items affected by this, such as boosters and Black Lion tickets.
Here’s a video of it: https://vine.co/v/OVrAnhziPnh
Mystic forge stones
Seemed to fix itself. I put both stacks in my bag and relogged and they’re stackable again.
clicking combine when its in inventory seems to make one stack disappear
wait, did splitting one off make it account bound? Thanks, I’ve been wondering, for a good while, how to “acquire” the items to make them account bound instead of account bound on acquire.
EDIT: Nvm, those items don’t stack with normal “account bound” even after they’re “account bound” via splitting. That’s messed up.

You can also split the bank stack in two – the stack that got split off will become stackable (the original one will remain unstackable, however).
Seriously I never see this many bugs in one patch, especially a patch this small..
I think they try to implant some of the HoT stuffs inside the game and break the existing game.
Gift of Exploration earned Pre-patch won’t stack with any earned Post-Patch either. Is this by design?
The difference is that the old stack is “Account Bound On Acquire” while the new one is “Account Bound”. The different ownership restrictions prevent stacking, even if it’s really a distinction without a difference.
Add the Gift of Exploration to the list of unstackables now.. ANET changed map completion but screwed up the stacking system.. again, just like the Experience Scroll issues.. pfft
Yes ANET I would love to throw some more gems at you to increase my bank slots even more.. but you wont let me do that either cos I have already got all you will allow me to have!
Since the patch yesterday I haven’t been able to add certain items to my already existing stacks in the bank. These items include: scrolls of knowledge, birthday boosters, trading post express and experience scrolls.
Any ideas?
No idea, beside likely just another bug
I’ve incompatible stacks of lvl 20 birthday scrolls …
Would be nice if it get fixed before even more items cannot stack, but currently I see a lot of more urgent matters added Monday
Many items that were ‘Account bound on acquire’ are now ‘Account bound’; this is apparently enough to keep them from stacking.
Adding to this: Gifts of Exploration
Add Bank Express and Merchant Express clickies to the list of things not stacking as well ANET.. …
I cannot stack any of my old items that were account bound with new items that are account bound.
The problem looks to be that the flags for all my old items were reset from “Account Bound” to “Account Bound on acquire”.
So newly acquired items are “Account Bound” but old items are “Account Bound on acquire”. You can split the old “Account Bound on acquire” items and they will become account bound and you will then be able to stack them except for the last item since there is no way to make it account bound.
This bug applies to all account bound items such as Bloodstone Dust, boosters, etc…
ANet, was this last patch even tested?
I got a few new Black Lion items from my achievement chest (like Bank Access Express, XP Booster, Box o’ Fun) and they say “Account Bound”. The old ones are “Account Bound on Acquire” and therefor these two items don’t stack.
Could you fix that and make them stackable again?
They’ve invented a new way to take up more inventory space and sell more bank slots. Gotta make those gem sale forecasts you know.
I have the same issue I reported it here just now:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Can-t-stack-items-Account-Bound-BUG
Too many items that should stack, do not. Everything from Experience scrolls to Boxes of Fun. Storage space for us is too precious to have this continue. Please correct this asap?
We’re currently investigating a fix for this issue, but in the meantime players can fix this stacking issue by doing the following:
1) Move the “Account Bound on Acquire” items from your bank into your inventory.
2) With the items in your inventory, either log out of the game or change maps.
3) Once you log back in, or once you complete your map change, you will find that your items are now “Account Bound” and that they now will be stackable.
Thank you for your patience with using this work-around until we are able to properly fix this issue.
Lauree, are you fixing the FPS isue aswell?
I assume this effects most account bound/account bound on acquire items, but Blade Shards can be added to the list.

It didn’t work for Experience Scrolls, even though they both now say ‘Account Bound’ rather than ‘Account Bound on Acquire’. They refuse to stack with each other. The others I tried, so far, have worked.
the ‘skip to level 20’ scrolls have been that way for a LONG time for me.
revive orbs, mystic forge stones, magic find booster are all new for me as of yesterday’s patch

They should fix that because it’s really kitten annoying.
Pristine Fractal Relics and Tomes of Knowledge are also not stacking.
heres what I found:
-breaking a stack in the bank makes it impossible to put back together, if this happens just put them in your inventory, go to toon select screen and reload, it fixes it and it should be stackable again in inventory
-breaking a stack from inventory doesnt cause the problem
Totally not gonna work. I’m a stubborn person. It’s not going to work. lol
I just tested it..
If you log out with “Account bound on acquire” items in your inventory they will turn into “Account Bound” when you log back in.
So the fix for this is place all the “Account Bound on Acquire” items in your inventory and log out with them then log back in and you can stack the items..
As Lauree posted above there is a work-around for this issue until it’s fixed. Please follow the link.
Thank you for looking into it and finding a workaround until it’s fixed.
Please fix the FPS issues, we can’t WvW or GvG like this.

Those scrolls have different item IDs so they will never stack.
For the record this bug is not new, but has been around for some time, although now the bug which was never fixed has now cascaded to include many other items. I have had things in my bank for months that do not stack. Experience scrolls for one. Some crafting boosters. I reported this bug when it first appeared on siege blueprints over a year ago. You had to take the stacks apart in your inventory and restack them as a work around. —-this meant taking stacks of 250 completely apart-—— til they were a stack of 1 then slowly stacking them. Sometimes you had to stack them in a specific ORDER to get them to stack properly.
I have made lists and lists and lists of things that have been bugged since launch. I go around and see the same events bugged since the beginning of the game. I have things I paid money for (the chef’s outfit) that cannot be dyed, and that have been bugged for over a year.
When you do not fix bugs, then bugs on top of bugs happen. This is just a fact.

Thank you
I skimmed through the topic, and since nobody else seems to have said it:
Observed cause:
Lately, with every new small patch, some items that have been “account bound” turn into “account bound on acquire”, like my stack of Tome of Knowledge for example.
Results of attempted work around:
-The map change trick worked for Tomes of Knowledge.
-Nothing seems to work for Experience scroll:
—I started out with 2×2 stacks, one Account Bound, one Account Bound on Acquire.
—I heard that splitting a stack would make the split off item AB, which it did, but the new AB didn’t stack with the old AB stack. So I had now 3 stacks, AB (with 2), AB (with 1) and ABoA (with 1).
—I tried the map changing trick, which turned the last ABoA into an AB stack, and now stacks with the one AB stack originally broken off from the ABoA stack. So I’m now back to 2×2 stacks of Experience scrolls. (EDIT: It is possible that the other stack is from second birthday gifts. Just learned that they don’t stack with scrolls from first gift. It’s loosely related, so I’m not deleting the entire explanation)
Hope this helps in further investigating and ultimately fixing the problem.

ah so there is a fix, thank goodness. I was really upset about this as my bank is already full of these boosters and other items. I didn’t have room to make second stacks of everything
