The Champion Spider Queen inside the side mission instanced in the Tower of Nightmares cocoons players and then eats the cocoon in order to heal herself up to full.

She cocoons so often, and the cocoons which are clearly designed to be destroyed in order to prevent her from healing are so tough that you can’t break them before she uses them to heal herself, that it is impossible for a 5-man team to damage her enough to win this instance.

Also, once the entire team is wiped, there’s no option to waypoint out or “restart from checkpoint” so our entire team has to log out from the game after a team wipe.

tactic for this is to not stack together or mele too much, ive done the queen in those instances several times with 3 players, if your at ranged weapon range you can spam 1 in time before the spider gets there, and ive noticed she doesn’t cocoon people at mele range.

I cant comment about the death situation though as ive not died in any of those instances, they scale to the party number, unfortunately not to the party skill, maybe you could try with a dif party to succeed.

so the queen cocoon healing isn’t a bug, she works as intended I believe, and I hope you reported ingame the not being able to res bug as it may get faster attention than on the forums.

It IS a bug.

4 people attacking the cocoon couldn’t destroy it before the Champion Spider Queen did the kill and healed herself to full. And she kept doing this repeatedly, making it impossible to do more damage than she healed.

And yes, she would cocoon players that were in melee range.

And yes, I did report it in game.

I think the point of this encounter is to CC the spider away from the coccoons. I use all the immobilize I have (net turret, etc.) as well as BOB to knock her away when she gets too close.

I do have to say though that some coccoons indeed appear to be bugged as they are a TON stronger and take a super long time to take down even with 5 people.

Secondly, and this is not a bug, but it is seriously stupid to design an encounter around CC skills and then give the boss stacks of defiant. (…)

ive never seen a cocoon bug out, maybe its just my luck, the only cocoons that are unbreakable imo are when holucinations are cocooned but the spider wont heal off those, she ignores, maybe the reason 5 people cant break is because they are trying to get a hallucination cocoon or the person inside isn’t pressing 1 on recharge. if your in mele range and getting cocooned its just bad luck that there isn’t someone ranged for the spider to hit with it instead, which is what I meant when I put she wont cocoon mele.

People dont realise the if you attack from the outside of the coccoon you do very little damage to it. If the coccoon isnt destroyed in time its usually the fault of whoever was trapped (they didnt spam 1 enough).
