So you know the newsfeed that loads when you login to the GW2 client? Mine is not loading.

I thought it was just taking longer than usual to load (since I did change my ISP recently), but I left my computer on and client open last night to install the HoT patch and upon checking my client this morning, the newsfeed still has not loaded.

I’ve included a picture for reference.

Any help would be appreciated )= thank you!

iam having the same problem for the last half hour myself including no news feed . are you able to log into the game ? are you getting any error codes ??? hope they get our problem fixed soon .

Im also having this issue. im able to get to the character select screen but it freezes up during the loading screen. strange

Yeah ever since this started ive also been having problems with skill laggs and loot laggs.. so i guess laggs in general lol

After the recent update, which seems to include Mac-related things, I cannot see any of the news listed after you login, before clicking ‘Play’. The never-ending counterclockwise gray loading ring just continues, but nothing loads. I can play the game just fine. Yet, still would like to see what’s new as I start to play. Attached is the screen shot.
Not really major, but still needs to be fixed.

Add me to the list. The high ping is making gliding a game of russian roulette. Will the glider save me or will I go splat?

Tried two (2) Mac, one Mac mini with El Capitan, one MacBook Pro with Yosemite.
BOTH, have the same issue, not loading the news after the login, before the clicking the ‘Play’.

I have that, as well, and I use a PC.

I have the same problem, but no lag or high pings. Well, not that I noticed, anyway; I rarely check my ping.

seems like a lot of people have this issue besides myself. anybody know from what they did in the patch issue or release of raids what is happening?

I’ve had this issue since the last update as well. I can log in just fine, but the newsfeed only has the spinning wheel. After loading a character I also encoutner the higher ping and extreme delays in actions and 30+second load times to even view an item on the TP.

I’m going to try using the command line arguments to completely bypass the loading of the launcher/login to see if it can be a temporary workaround for the issue until it eventually gets fixed:

• -email emailaddress -password mypassword -nopatchui

My guess is that the newsfeed is constantly trying to connect and load in the background even after loading into the game and it is dominating the bandwidth and/or causing a client>server communication issue.

Both I and my wife logged on earlier and the login button pops up as does the PLAY button.. and i can log in and play.. but where the text should be (the news secion) on the launcher, all we get is a spinning circle.

Anyone else getting this?

Yes, I am seeing the same thing since afternoon yesterday. Launcher content won’t load. Could be a network issue somewhere I suppose. Game works fine, but the launcher news content just won’t load.

Same issue here for both myself and my roommate, both started having this issue with the same update as everyone else. The launcher’s news isn’t loading but the game will still load… although I do admit the game is taking a lot longer to load now (white screen lasts about 15-25 seconds after clicking “play”, prior it was near instant from white screen to character screen).

Yeah I am having the same issue. Also getting really high ping spikes. I noticed it after the last patch.

UPDATE:

I’ve suddenly started getting randomly high pings too, as well as a dramatically increased load time. Where it used to take a couple of seconds to load into an unpopulated map like Snowden Drifts, now it takes like half a minute. Anet pls respond

My newsfeed just loaded! Hooray! I don’t know why but everything is fine and dandy now =D

The first “splash” screen you reach after logging in, the screen with the “Play” button on it (that displays recent game/site forum posts/etc) just sits and spins forever. Does not load/display any content. This started happening earlier this week. Sorry, I don’t remember which patch (there have been many).

Screen shot is attached. This state persists “forever” (or for as long as I have let it persist, 20+ minutes).

I am running the 64-bit client on a current/patched Windows 10 Pro x64. I have run a repair pass on my game (using the 64-bit client). This does not prevent me from logging in and playing the game.

Assuming this is not on the server end of things, I am guessing there is some little glitch in the GW2 network configuration.

This happens to my friend as well, but it loads fine for me.

I’m really not sure what the problem here is. Yesterday evening (approx. 13 hours ago) the game was working as normal. Today the launcher won’t connect.

I can log in but with auto-play off the news section doesn’t ever load. With auto-play on or if I click Play the game opens and then about a second later minimises. I can’t get it to actually open.

I tried selecting the icon on the task bar and pressing enter, just to see what would happen (I thought maybe it was somehow running minimised), but that crashed the game and gave me the option to send a report to Anet.

I’ve tried running it both from the shortcut on my desktop and from the .exe directly and selecting ‘run as administrator’ and I get the same results either way.

I can’t think what else to try (and I assume the problem is on my end since I haven’t seen other people reporting the same problem).

I also tried using -repair and it didn’t do anything.

No idea if this will help, but I remember long ago some players having some issues similar to yours (nothing to do with the News Feed, but…).

The ‘fix’ was to add the ‘-windowed’ command line argument. (I think that’s the right argument spelling; if not, you can find the correct spelling in the Wiki.) Can’t really hurt to try.

I was having this same problem for days. This morning I had a BSOD/Video
Scheduler Internal Error so I updated my graphics drivers, the Intel one specifically had an update and now it is loading correctly. I can’t say for sure that is the reason, but that is my experience. Hope this helps.

I had another thought, it may do no good, but…

You could try the -prefreset command line argument. It may take you out of windowed mode, if that is causing an issue.

Again, it can’t hurt, except for resetting your preferences (options). If you don’t want to have to set your options again, of course don’t use this command.

I’m having the same problem. The launcher opens, lets me log in flawlessly; but will not load the news feed. It seems to continually load, bogs down my middle-of-nowhere crappy internet (1.5mbps) but never does anything. And the game suddenly lags on my gaming computer.

I think -prefreset did it. I’m not sure why but after using that I was able to login again, and I was still able to after switching back to windowed mode.

I’m not sure if it’s relevant but before trying that I also re-downloaded the game, to see if that would help. Unfortunately I didn’t try logging in before using -prefreset so I’m not sure which of the two did it, but since -repair didn’t I think it’s more likely to be the command.

I’m getting the same thing, have been for I think a day or two.

I’ve been seeing the same as the above. Been using the 64-bit client, then a few days ago the news feed stopped showing, ignored it for a bit but now wondering whats going on.

For me, loads on the 32, not the 64.

As per the title. I just get a spinning circle in the news area. Since the Play button still works and I can hop to the main website page to find new articles it’s not a huge issue but I imagine y’all would like the first step into the game to look like it works Newer folks might not realize they can enter the game without waiting for the news to load.

I’m using the 64 bit client if that is in any way relevant to the issue.

I get exactly same issue as mentioned above. The news are not critical but I would like to stay up-to-date and them being on launcher is a big quality of life thing.
