I’m wondering if demon slaying sigil was introduced as a sigil against elementals to begin with, or the bug still not being fixed.

I’m assuming it was meant to be vs. demons, otherwise don’t see the logic in having 2 sigils with same effect but different name (Elemental=Demon Slaying Sigil). I have tested it and it does work vs elementals but not against demons.

So, is the sigil bugged or was it meant to be like this. This isn’t hard to answer dear ArenaNet

Could you say which enemy you are using for your tests?

You are not likely to get an answer from the Devs at 3 or 4AM. I’m sure most of those whose expertise lies in this bug’s area are fast asleep.

My aim is to increase my dps on Imbued Shaman using Night/Demon Sigils, however after experiencing dps loss on Imbued, I further tried the tests on elementals in Fireheart (Tar and Ember) and demons (Imps) in Fireheart and lower level areas (to see clear difference) . It does effect elementals however I couldn’t see an increase on demons.

Potions work without doubt, however the sigils work only against elementals.

Ohh! Interesting. Need to update the wiki, then, as whoever created the page was under the impression Demons were Imps. I wonder what Demons are, then. There are no entries for Demons other than Imps.

Imps are demons from the Underworld who are attuned to various elements

unless the wiki is wrong, imps are very much demons :P

The wiki is the work of a lot of players’ observations of the game and is not maintained by the devs. It’s pretty easy for misinformation to make it into there on supposition alone and be parroted as truth for months down the road.

On the other hand, even though a comment from a red-tagged dev has significant weight, it is quite possible for one to make a mistake, remember something wrong, or write something that gets misinterpreted.

While this is indeed an interesting statement that sheds new light on imps, it still doesn’t answer OP’s main question. The sigil of Demon slaying tooltip says that it provides bonus dmg vs elementals. Is the description wrong only while the sigil causes increased dmg vs demons or the sigil is not working as intended?

Imps aren’t demon, sorry for that, however that still didn’t answer whether demon slaying sigils work against demons. They definitely work against elementals just as its description says.

Are there even demons currently in the game? It’s not like we have access to Realm of Torment.

So, demon slaying sigil doesn’t work against demons but elementals. Still waiting for a response from ArenaNet, if this was meant to be or if this is bugged (and you have any plans to fix it).

One very important demon is the Legendary Imbued Shaman in the Volcanic Fractal, as OP mentioned, the wiki page that says he is elemental is wrong. Demon slaying potions work flawlessly there.
So, back to the original question, we have a Demon slaying sigil with a tooltip that states bonus dmg vs elementals. Bug?

If the demon potion works but the demon sigil does not, then either the sigil is bugged or the potion is bugged :P … but something is bugged.
