“I make my home in Loading screens”

So firstly, I will take the steps and run -log command tonight. I get this and have been getting this under the following conditions:

1. In LA, press B, select any BL or EB, no queue, sits.
2. In PvE Map (cursed shore/frostgorge sound), press B to join my guild, Select any map … sits

…after restarting my client, I get in without any issue.

Also under … in a WvW map, and we decide to move maps… any BL, to any new BL … sits….

Restart client, it kicks me to LA, and I jump to the BL I was stuck loading on, huzzah I’m in.

Basically all the time, it will occur about 4-5 times nightly (would more but that’s about the amount of map changing I do, mostly reside in a BL).

About my char: I have 4, but play mostly on my main. I don’t see why race, profession are relevent but:

Server = Darkhaven
1. Xgammon, Norn Warrior, lvl 80
2. Omega Bomberman, Asura Engineer, lvl 80
3. Hexin, Human Necromancer, lvl 54
4. X Sorrows, Charr thief, lvl 27

Computer: Laptop HP 8440w elite, 8GB Ram, i7 proc, nvidia quadro with cuda, windows 8

I had thought it was my video card so I had a technician check the fan, was informed it’s clean as a whistle. Fine, so I checked GW1, checked WoW, can play them all fine. Okay so thought maybe it was my game client or operating system, so I had a technician wipe it, gave me a new hard drive -500 Momentus Hybrid XT, reinstalled windows fresh, downloaded the latest client and installed (a week ago or so).

Rolled the dice, and failed. Still get it. So at least I can say I have done some work on my end to eliminate the possibilities. I am very familiar with gaming systems and requirements, and work at a game dev company as well.

I will run the log all night tonight, and re-attach it in this thread tomorrow. it’s not a terrible issue, as I can work around it … killing the process and restarting the client, or in a severe case where it fully freezes and i cannot even alt out, or windows key – literally frozen, I have to hard reboot my system). This never happened in September or October to me, only started occurring in the past month or so.

Cant enter wvw. Every time i try i get stuck on the loading screen forever. I can go anywhere else though.

Stuck loading a pvp map.

After patch i try to join my server wvw bl i stuck on loading screen for eternity and even if i restart client its still try to load me to this bl so i’m pretty much screved unless i make new char.

Stuck at WvW loading screen.
After restarted the client, although it shows your character is back to his PvE map, it will still try to load the WvW map and the loading screen says “Unknown Borderland”. Still stuck there.

guess what anet your patch broke your game again!

and it is back! [3rd time after you “fixed it”]

Just a question guys.. What were you doing just before the loading page appeared ?
For me it happened one time when I was searching something in my bags. Since, I never opened a bag again just before loading page and it never happened again for the moment.

We’re sorry to hear that some of you are still experiencing this bug! We added some additional data gathering code to the -log command line argument in the last patch that should help us to further hone in on this issue for those of you that are still experiencing it.

If you are experiencing infinite or long loading screens that last for around two minutes, please follow the instructions below and reply with the results as an attachment. Thank you for your help in tracking this down!

1. Create a shortcut to your Gw2.exe file
2. Right-click the shortcut, and at the end of the command line, add -log (see the attached image for an example)
3. Launch the client
4. If you run into the loading screen bug, close the client and navigate to your Documents>Guild Wars 2 folder
5. Reply to this thread with the GW2.txt file as an attachment.

NOTE: DO NOT restart the client as it will erase the contents of the log file.

You guys need to work on your communication a bit more. This post should have either been made the opening post, or at least make it a sticky somewhere and link to it. Having it buried in page 6 of this thread helps noone and you can already see people not posting their logs on page 7.

Also, after someone got confused when you told them the wrong filename, why didnt you go back and edit your post with the correct filename? I would have thought it would be common sense. Anyways fixed that for ya in my quote.

But yeah, if you’re serious about getting logs to help you with this issue, make your post a sticky somewhere. If its just a gesture to appease people and make them think they have some participation in the process, carry on I guess :P
