Lv.80 Scrapper (Alchemist Persenia)

I dont have a fancy high end gaming PC like most people but my graphics card is ok. Its a AMD Radeon HD 6520G Graphics card in my laptop.
I can usually achieve 30-35FPS even 40FPS all on high settings, just under the Subsample graphic choice.
Now I only get 20-22 FPS MAX, even on the lowest settings!!! Even in areas where there arent any players and when facing a wall! This has virtually made the game unplayable for me. This sucks because GW2 is the only mmo THAT LOOKS DECENT on my crappy laptop.
ANET what is going on!?!? I have been playing for 2 years with no graphical issues till now, I hope a remedy is on its way because Im stuck with no MMO now.
Exactly same frame drop numbers.
The ping seems normal under 100, i have a 2011 iMac so i ran all stuf on low and had 35-45 FPS.
Now its 20-25.
And whenever i press “N” for pvp party window, it freezes for a second – all other teammates also get this freeze.
Edit:
Yup its AMD HD 6750M 512mb card

Same here, I have an AMD graphic card, and had 65-70 fps before the patch, now i have only 20-25, high setting or low setting doesnt change anything.
yep, AMD graphics card here. used to get 30-45 fps, now lucky to get 15. Average ping is still below 100
Same, AMD Graphics card, averaged between 30-40 FPS. now 10-15. Ping is the same.
I’ve seen other people say that it could be due to the post-processing setting. I guess the “low” setting is doing the same as the “high” setting. So this has nothing to do with the GPU in your system, but rather the CPU (GW2 is CPU intensive anyways due to it being DX9 instead of DX11). As an example I have an Intel i7-3770k@4.2GHz and I have experienced no FPS issues. But I am always running everything on max settings.
Same. My graphics card isnt quite up to par with everyone else’s on this thread but atleast gw2 was playable on minimum settings. 10-14 fps in dungeons quite unplayable i hope they fix this soon.
Well if they cant fix that issue, Im gonna quit guildwars2
Yeah, I’m afraid it’ll be the same for me. Not that I want to quit, but I physically cannot play the game in the state that it is without making myself sick. Hopefully it will all be for naught and they will fix it quickly. It just makes me slightly nervous that so far all threads on this subject have not yet had an official reply. I do imagine though they are really busy at the moment. In the meantime I’m going to panic.
Edit: I too have an AMD graphics card. HD 7500 2gb
I have also had a frame rate drop, it was 40FPS prior to the patch, now it’s 20FPS. I looked at frame rates in the HotM lobby both times, and haven’t made any changes to my graphics settings.
If it helps finding the problem , hiding the UI makes the game smooth again as it should be.
reporting same on r9 290 vapor x
I also have the same problem not as profound as those reporting here but i have around 30’s when i usually had 50-60 fps and also have an amd video card.
If it helps finding the problem , hiding the UI makes the game smooth again as it should be.
This works for me too so its defintly some overlay problem.
What’s the UI ?
What’s the UI ?
User interface. skills, chat log health stamina the whole shabang. and yeah completely hidding the ui makes my game play smooth again aswell.
Can confirm FPS drops.
Before = 50/60
Now = 30/40
FPS dropped by about a third with this patch. Not just an AMD or Mac issue either, I run an NVidia GTX580 on Win7 Pro (x64).
I only had about 20-25 FPS to begin with, on pretty kitten low settings. I’m now looking at a grand total of 4.
Seems to me the camera options are woefully underoptimized.
Same here
2500k 4.0 and hd6950
drop~20fps in deserted areas
i dont wonna play cuz this atm
turn off UI give this fps back
20fps only for turn in off is crazy………………
I have high end specs, and I also noticed a frame rate drop after the patch. Thought it was just me at first, I’m glad to notice other people are also seeing it. Hopefully a quick fix is in the works.
oh, an update! I used to get in general 18-25 FPS in most locations (dipping down to as bad as 12 FPS in really bad locations), and after the patch I have about 4 FPS.
If you turn off your UI, your framerate skyrockets. I went from 4 or 5 to something nearing 30. This suggests the FPS loss isn’t based on the camera changes, but that something was added to the UI that’s causing a scripting hangup which, in turn, eats CPU.
(For the record, I’m mentioning it here because a new thread seems like a bad idea, but narrowing down the problem is important for a bug fix to be made.)
@Harnel : Many people got the same problem due to the patch of yesterday,
as you said if u turn off the UI, you will get back the same FPS as before. ( even more )
I had 65-70 FPS before the patch, 20-25 FPS now with the UI, 60-80 FPS without the UI
So How can a UI take so much FPS ?
They need to fix it asap! I tried to play WvW without UI ( I’m mostly roaming ) and this is SO HARD to play cause at the end you dont even see what u are doing / how many hp left you have/ your ennemy have ect ect… I hope anet will read and fix it.
It’s not just PvP or WvW – PvE is nearly impossible to play without knowing your HP and cooldowns
After the patch I have 2-5 fps, it’s impossible to play now :/
When I remove the UI gw2 goes perfectly, but it’s not a solution, I can’t play without it.
I hope anet will fix it because I won’t be able to play Gw2 anymore if they don’t.
I’ve noticed drop as well and also a heat increase now on the PC it’s running much hotter than it was something they did affected it altogether. I’ve noticed bad texture issues on bosses or missing altogether. As well as audio issues with characters talking in all different voices constantly talking, all after the latest update.
Yea I imagine but I dont know pve that good so I dont want to say something wrong, anyway they need to fixit asap.
Pretty impossible to play here, please fix it soon
UI eat our fps miam miam;/
I7 4,325ghz
Dual 980gtx
Running 4k resolution
Did not notice any frame drop, but may be because a drop from 70 to 60 isn’t noticeable enough? World bosses were good.
Have you increased your FOV and zoomed out on the camera? It’s significant increase in the number of elements your system is trying to render…
Not saying you should have to spend $1500 on video cards to play it, btw
@Allisa : our only way to get back our fps right now is to hide the UI, putting the game in high setting or lowest setting doesnt change anything, the problem come from the UI
And I would never buy a 1500$ video card, they just need to fixthe bug
I know it seems weird, I’ve never seen a UI eating all our FPS in any games, so I dont know what they did wrong..
and yea you dont need more than 60FPS to play, so a frame drop from 70 to 60 FPS doesnt change anything… or Im blind.
I don’t have that powerful machine for gaming, but only got GW2 running fine, I had the FPS issue, relaunched the game and now it’s ok
I know it seems weird, I’ve never seen a UI eating all our FPS in any games, so I dont know what they did wrong..
I think it’s a scripting problem. the reason I say this is because I was pretty heavy into modding Skyrim and Oblivion before GW2 came out, and oftentimes the biggest performance hits weren’t from textures or meshes, but from bad scripts. See, what would happen is they wouldn’t know how to proceed, so the script would try again… and again… and again, never succeeding because it was written poorly. The end result was that FPS royally tanked as the game tried to process a script something like 300 times per second.
It’s the only explanation I have for why a UI, usually the most stable and least resource intensive part of a game, would cause so many issues.

I see, but, if thats the reason, why some peoples doesnt have any FPS problem ?

You mean restarted the game? ( sorry my english is not perfect so I want to be sure to understand well )

Yes
oh ok then this way do not fix my problem
oh ok then this way do not fix my problem
It worked for me, guess/hope anet will do something about it soon.
Yea I want to play with my UI <.<
Same problem here. After patch is impossible to play with visible UI (and very hard to play without it). My FPS is around 10.
Waiting for a fix to play again.
I confirm drastically FPS drop after patch.
My spec:
HP pavillion dv7-6b45ew:
Windows 8.1
Radeon HD 6700M
Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU 2,2 Ghz
Most settings are at LOW (Render Sampling – Native), at AMD CCC are setted to use aplication settings.
FPS report:
*now:
Divinity’s Reach – 20 FPS
random/non populated localization – up to 30 FPS
*before:
Divinity’s Reach – 30 FPS
random/non populated localization – up to 60 FPS
All drivers are up to DATE.
When I run GW2 client systems report a lot of problems with AMD drivers that are stopped and reseted after while.
Something say me that they will never fix it! xD
i just saw 22fps on my friend’s i7 laptop with 8gb RAM and 2gb gpu…
they seriously kittened up their game.
Well kitten done!
this patch is an epic fail
As much as people posting hardware think the game should run smooth. I play many new games and they have FPS fine this game has bad FPS no matter the setting unless I have it on very low I get 60 constant. I’ve been playing since release and this patch made the FPS even lower for most.
FIX THIS… you can’t be serious about this. cmon!
I can’t even enter kitten game for 2 days. Always some error, or 0kb download, or stuck at blackscreen or stuck at initializing…
My friend is in… but it’s unplayable.
Stop ignoring the problems and reply to reports for once. It’s easy to reply on asslicking threads where fanboys will say how everything is just fine… when in fact you just ruined perfect mmo.
GW2 was just fine… i bet 90% of dont give a kittencat about 1st person view (which is no way intended for competitive play).
I just sent a ticket to support yesterday about that FPS drop, they didnt reply yet… lmao
I just sent a ticket to support yesterday about that FPS drop, they didnt reply yet… lmao
That makes me feel confident. Can confirm patch makes playing on a non potato, feel like playing a potato. Not getting anywhere past 10-15 FPS. I’ll submit a ticket anyway lol.
UI on: 3-5 fps, UI off, 25-30 fps.
Stability change, new camera view options, etc etc are not bad.
But when it includes a whole bunch of bugs of kittentery that affects playability….that needs fixing….badly.
Fix that UI bugs and a whole lot more bugs that came with the patch.
This is probably the worst patch ever in the history of gw2…
I totally agree, this is imo the worst patch ive ever seen in gw2..
