…still improving…
Game freezes after last patch. (28-may)
…still improving…
Yeah, this is happening to some guildies and me too.
I have the same problem since the last patch.
My client froze once since the patch.
(Before the patch, it seemed very stable. This was the first freeze I’ve had since I’ve upgraded to Win 64bit)
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Yup, happening to half our guild in WvW aswell now!
Immortal Kingdom [KING] – Officer
Second Law [Scnd] Filthy Casual
Having the same issue – game has crashed at least 5 time in the last 2 hours, 4 times in WvW and once in Lions Arch. Before patch it has never crashed
It’s happened to me twice today after the patch and hasn’t happened before this – even in Beta. The client completely froze in the foreground – could not alt-tab or CNTRL-ESC. Had to bring up task manager and close the non-responsive client.
OTG!
Yak’s Bend!
It has happened to me 2 times in EB today. I have never crashed before that ever.
This is the 3rd Crash for me. Only started happen after the patch. Was in EB, WvW.
Same here
My game just froze in WvW EB
I think this is the 2nd time now since start.
It froze twice in 20minutes in WvW…
This is the first time since the game release that it freezes..
(edited by olleN.2356)
Yep. Two freezes in 15 minutes. First time it’s EVER happened. Not even in Betas.
Same. 3 crashes since update.
Likewise, 4 crashes since update. All in WvW during large battles. Tried turning down number of displayed players + character quality, but it didn’t seem to help. Hope this gets a fix soon!
WvW hard lockup. Had to reboot the whole machine, couldn’t even get task manager up. First hard crash since BWE2. Two guildies reporting the same.
Yep, I am experiencing crashes and lockups in game since the update also. I got dc’d three or so times during The Shatterer pre-event/fight and had the entire screen freeze once (but it unfroze after ten-twenty seconds).
<= more than 10 Freezes since Update. Only in WvW (but i dont play pve or pvp a lot).
I just played 10 Minutes on eternal battlegrounds and got 2 Freezes!
Never had any probs with gw2 before.
System:
win 7 64 bit
intel core i5, qc, 2.67 Ghz
Nvidia GTX 560 ti
8 GB RAM
Deadly Fusion [oO]
Commander @ Miller´s Sound [DE]
Please Anet, any ETA on fix? It’s unplayable.
Getting this two, froze twice in 1 hour in WvW.
Same here. The freezing happened once on Southshun Cove while simply walking to Canach’s Lair so there wasn’t even much happening around me at that time. (I was fighting a stray Karka, but that was all.)
Like Eliandal the only way to solve it was to use the task manager to shut down GW2.
you may keep them to rear new and interesting variants in your basement.
I’ve got 2 “Not Responding” at the Jade Maw yesterday and one in Frostgorge right now. The only way is to CTRL+ALT+DEL and finish gw2.exe process. Playing sice betas, and it’s the first time I see it happen. Can we have some attention, please?
Similar experience on two different computers with different internet connections. game would freeze on a black screen in Lions Arch. Several crashes to character select and massive lag in WvW EB map. While escorting a Yak with no else around on screen, the Yak would come to a complete stop, then start moving again, this went on for a couple of minutes. Typing keys to slap the Yak would not even execute for almost a minute. Never had this happen except in massive zerg on zerg fights. Also was talking to friend in vent when i crashed and they experienced a game freeze at the same time (note they live 3000 miles away). I think the optimaztion is going the wrong way.
Ranger, Thief and Warrior
Joining the queue, having same problems since last patch. Freezes happen faster on the borderlands than on tkitten. On the borderlands my game freezes after ca. 5 minutes, on tkitten i could play at least 2 hours until it froze.
Can ANET tell us if they will fix it? IMy game just froze again.. as well as many people from my server while playing WvW
programmers are amateur, and are creating memory leaks (see attachment)
some ppl complained gw2.exe was taking 4gb of ram
luclky i have 8gb, so i can hold 1h+ without a crash
(edited by DanH.5879)
Wow! So I’m not the only one with this same problem. From siege in wvw, to random freezes in the game to the forums bugging out as well. I have not had this many problems with GW2. It may be time to get a new MMO. Sure hope they get this stuff fixed soon……………………………………
Happened again in WvW EB
No lag prior to the crash.
Just turning my camera around and and froze.
Hope it can be fixed fast because it is annoying as hell
Game stops responding twice a day on average, mostly in WvW,but I’ve experienced few crashes in open world too.
Sound is not affected.
Memory usage during hang is around 1600-1800MB.(I have 8GB RAM)
Windows 7 x64.
Same for me and my gf too… Happens alot, sound and mouse cursor is not affected, but the screen turns black, and i have to pop out to windows and close the game.
Specs:
Core i7 960 @ 4ghz
12 gb 1600 Dominator RAM
Gainward GTX 690
250 GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Sigh.
I have never had a problem with GW before and now I can’t even get a few seconds into the game before it freezes up and goes unresponsive. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get out of it. I can leave the character selection screen up for as long as I please and I don’t have any issues but the moment I go into the game it freezes almost instantaneously. =(
No lag prior to the freeze, no audio issues.
Comp specs are a little out dated but still pretty decent:
Windows 7 64bit
AMD Phenom II X6 Processor 2.8GHz
8GB Ram
ATI Radeon 5770 @ 4GB
I would love a solution, and fast! I just went from logging about 5-10hrs a day to NOTHING. super sad face =(
Screen goes completely black suddenly. If you press Esc you get the “log out menu”. You can also press ‘character select’ button(whatever button you mapped it to) and it will appear. It will go to character select screen(with the music at character selection), but screen is still completely black.
i7 3770k
7770 HD Radeon
8GB of Ram
Windows 7 64bit
happening in pvp as well

I shouldn’t call programmers amateurs, not unless you know what you’re talking about. You realize a game using 1.2 gig is nothing ? Gw2 can take up to about 2.8 on my system..without a crash.
Couple days now I’ve been having these freezes. The game freezes totally for 5-10 seconds and then the screen goes black for couple more seconds and then back to game. At one point I noticed that the windows had some kind of error message about display driver couldn’t respond. I’ve disabled ULPS that caused same kind of problems on other games, but there’s no effect on GW2.

This sounds exactly like the problems I’ve been having since the patch.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Experienced this issue recently in FoTM (Dredge fractal – both ice boss and dredge boss at end was when I crashed) and WvW (random)- screen goes black, music continues to play (without combat noises going on in background).
Ctrl-alt-del does not work or Alt-Tab (Its like all keyboard input is not responsive)- sometimes waiting for a few mins allows everything to return to normal otherwise a reboot to clear the issue and then allows another few hours of playing again.
TS(Teamspeak) also runs fine in the background whilst the black screen crashes happens and can communicate to others.
Running latest EOM May 2013 Nvidia drivers.
Seems unlikely to be a gfx card hardware issue (I underclock my GPU slightly to ensure stability – gtx260 and it tests OK with all stress testing apps: furmark, occt etc).

I can not even get the game started since the last patch! Getting instant crash message. And no responses from Anet, on my crash messages that I post either. What to do? Re-install the newest patch?
Updating display driver seems to fix my freezes. After about 45min. gameplay no freezes so far.
Nope. Didn’t work.
Freezing started again.
i had same issue after installing newest graphic card drivers….
installing older ones helped
I am also experiencing crashing issues.
However, for the most part, it has been crashes straight to windows with a pop-up to send bug report.
Once it froze and I had to ctrl+alt+delete
Once it gave me a blue screen
Once it hard reset
After this started I reinstalled drivers, did some roll-backs, and finally reinstalled Windows
I am still crashing when I play the game.
EDIT: To give some more information..
This appears to happen most often in Lion’s Arch
This has been a problem since the last patch, but I did receive a couple crashes this past month before it (and non before that since headstart)
My Machine:
Windows 8
Asus AMD Radeon HD 7870
Intel 3770k i7
Intel 520 SSD
16 GB RAM

After the last patched it crashed and I got a “serious error has occured” message. I’ve reported it but not feedback yet. I then proceeded to update my drivers, but that didn’t help much. It let me play the game for about 40 minutes before it crashed again.
Come on Anet, fix this already.
I have reported it like 20 times already but no response. Pretty bad if you ask me.
Works fine now after the latest patch.
New patch today and it started freezing yet again
I’m having the same problem for almost a few weeks now, and since the latest patch it only got worse. For example i crashed 5 times in a 10minutes CoF run…. It’s kinda becomming unplayable..
Hey everyone, I am unsure if all of our problems are related; however, I fixed mine with the help of ANet support yesterday.
It appears that the recent patch did not agree well with my overclocking. I reset my BIOS to default settings and the game runs fine again. I am guessing this has to do with the CPU optimizations of the last couple of patches.
Hope it helps!

Well, that is interesting, because I experienced this very problem twice on Thursday and had to completely reboot my system to get past it.
I do not overclock anything on my pc. I’ve got a quad core pc with all my graphics set down to low or medium so that I don’t get that annoying sound bug. It appears every patch there is some new wrinkle to this as I have experienced game freezes about 3 out of 4 times immediately after a new patch is implemented.
