There was no achievement I was more proud of reaching in a game, back before they gave the extra little daily quests, when it was hours of death-leveling after sacrificing the NPCs at the shrine. My summer beyond the wall was the best time I’ve ever had in Tyria.

If it were up to me, I would call on 3 of the best software engineers from the world’s best universities to rotate three 8 hour shifts so that at the beginning and end if each shift over a period of 8 hours the outgoing software engineer would tell the incoming software engineer of the progress on the fix and the 3 of them could hold weekly meetings to plan ahead maybe once or twice a week.

That 3 person 8 hour shift rotation is way better than having just one person working over the course of an average 8-10 hour day testing and debugging a fix.

Could have gone faster if you maybe hired someone on a temporary basis to assist so long as they had the qualifications to do the job.

Lauren, when you do finally reopen HoM, I feel that it would go a LONG WAY in the eyes of your more than patient GW1 and GW2 patrons to receive an In-game Email of Apology and Announcement that the HoM is once again open for business. Not everybody comes to these forums daily to check on this (or any other) outstanding issues.

Side thought: You might do well to just send such an email to every player period upon login. It may give us renewed faith in your commitment to communicate with the community on important issues, and perhaps people will reconsider buying GW1 and grinding some monument points (not to mention reconsider buying HoT ).

Just another Dev you can’t put enough trust in to make pre-ordering a safe bet.

Anet is hovering just over Rocksteady and Ubisoft on my meter of trustworthy/competent Developers now.

I like the misuse and/or misunderstanding of some terms. I think even those saying to let Anet fix it properly are actually rather critical of Anet and hardly white knights. But some have an understanding of what is actually required to fix something like this. For someone to be a shill, they would need to be basically hired to fulfill those roles, would they not? Or otherwise benefit. Although I suppose if you think everyone that isn’t absolutely of the same mind as you, are hired either to undermine you or somehow to appease people? My how some things don’t change.

Now, my question for those that have been ranting and raving. Does what has been said here today convince you that they have been working on it and that it will be resolved soon? Or will the requests for more updates start all over again tomorrow?

I don’t decide these kinds of things, but there is an ingame mail associated with the fix! It’s a great email too… I think all of the people with legitimate HOM achievements will really like it.

As a side note, I am sorry you guys had to wait so long. This isn’t a fix where you can bring someone in from outside of the company to fix or put multiple people on it to get it done faster.

You had my curiosity, now you have my attention.

What I am most concerned of is “Gof Walking Among Mere Mortals”, because this is a hard-to-work-for title in the guild wars universe and a friend of mine got the title without ever playing guild wars 1 + full HoM as the HoM was still active months ago. He still has the title but he does not equip it, because he says it’s not honorable to equip that title aquired through a bug. This should be reset or I would find it very veeeeeery mean of arenanet to put the work of guild wars 1 players to waste. Even I played gw1 and know how hard it was to aquire the God Walking Among Mere mortals title, but the title has no value anymore when you know that thousands of people probably aquired it through this bug as well.

Why do you think that the fix is not here yet? The bug itself was fixed more or less within a week as far as I am aware. What is taking time is creating the software to do what you ask for.

Thb I didn’t even know that bug. I’ve almost never seen the gw1 titles ingame. It’s just annoying that you can’t get the hom skins.

Truly, if there is any potential of that getting to someone who can make it happen, it’d mean the world to (enter RP mode) be able to display the accomplishments of our legendary Ascalonian ancestors. I’d go to far as to name a character after ya Lauren, and not make it intentionally weird-looking.

The problem is, if they add this one title, they also have to add the others. There is no real order of difficulty in obtaining the titles in GW1, so others will start demanding to the title they like the most as well. In my opinion the current solution of having clearly defined goals in the HOM and being able to carry the meta title GWAMM over is the best solution.

on a more serious note though… it’s been ages since Kimmes has been basically giving us the finger, and i could really use my light armor skins right about now. when is he gonna start giving us our unlocks again? ETA please ArenaNet? it should just be a simple toggle switch, i really don’t know why he was turned off in the first place.

This won’t help you if you haven’t unlocked the skins in the wardrobe yet, either because you earned them after HoM shut off or you just didn’t use them yet, buuut, if you do have them in your wardrobe, they’re free to apply that way.

the bug that started this issue was all the way back in march, that bug has been fixed, i understand its difficult to remove achv points from ppl’s accounts, but come on, disable it to the ppl only affected, i have earned my legit 40pts and i cant redeem any of the skins, you guys have been quiet about it, at least talk to us, tell us what the hell is going on, we are approaching august now, pick up the slack anet, this is ridiculous, tell us something, keep us informed, keeping us in the dark is not good for anyone

As a player who was unlucky enough to create a character during the time that bug was in place, as much as I will hate losing the AP points, I am so happy this fix will happen soon. What’s a few hundred AP I’ll make more and they’ll be points I earned.

Just for the record, we are NOT “rabid wolves.” We are just loyal gamers who worked hard to get our rewards in the HOM and cannot retrieve our rewards because of some bug that is now going into it’s 5th month with the only ETA of a relaunch of the working properly HOM is a generic “soon.” (Although, I have been informed it is a pretty good “soon” by Lauren in this thread —- a more specific ETA would be very nice)

I’d like to ask that when this fix is rolled out, they tell us exactly what it is supposed to do and not just: Fixed a bug where the HOM was closed. I ask for this because when it gets rolled out i’d like to make sure it worked properly on me and didn’t take more achievement points than it was supposed to

Well, some act like rabid wolves. Because you are not unable to retrieve your reward because of a bug that is going into the 5th month… The bug has been fixed within hours. Anet could have opened the HoM right away but we requested (and hopefully they felt) that they also needed to clean up the mess the bug created and remove the rewards that were handed out for free.

• Fixed a bug in which achievement points and titles for Hall of Monuments were incorrectly given to some players. The points and titles have been removed. Any achievement chests that were received as a result of this bug were kept intact but will not be given out a second time.

Rewards are still disabled, though. :\

Maybe they are giving some time to make sure no one got stuff removed by mistake.

There’s a couple people I know who had their points and achievement titles removed, so that’s likely the case.

My legit points were striped away too. I only had 11, but they’re gone now :/

Then contact support, with screen shots of your HoM page and all that.

Well, I just made a new character for pvp only purposes and my 50/50 + gwamm got stripped.

Extremely incompetent job, guess it is time to contact support.

I wouldn’t say “incompetent”, they have been very thorough exactly to avoid such things, but well, there’s no perfect system and crap happens (even more in a system with these dimensions). Just contact support if you were unfairly affected, I’m sure they were already expecting it could occur.

P.S.: lol for the in-game message, funny despite unfortunate.
