LFG tool keeps crashing my game
I’ve been getting this too.
It happened again 2 times in a row then I couldn’t reproduce it. I have no way to know for sure but I have a feeling a player might be the cause of this (abusing a game bug).
Only crashing on CoF lfg tab for me.
edit: -repair did the trick for me
edit-edit: forget what I wrote. Crashing again

Same here. It happens as soon as I try to post. It has crashed me four times now while in Arah. Excellent.
Hooray, how did you manage to destroy the lfg tool, ANet?
It’s completly unrelated to the LS content.
Your devs should really think about their work here.
It’s BETA afterall!

I am also experiencing this, game crashed about 10 times now…
Confirmed!Game crashes on lfg tool and when joining parties!
I’ve been experiencing the same thing. I’ve tried couple of times with no results.
same problem, cant do fractals. fix it and throw us a fat compensation, ye?
If you mean with compensation: Uhh, we are sorry.
Then yes, that’s the maximum you can expect.
Oh wait, maybe we are getting this awesome leaderboards like for fracs..

I crash every time i open lfg:/ in need of the gold for new spinal blades! living story content is awesome thoughC :
Same issue.
Made a topic about it as well earlier but they removed it to the “Tech Support” section apparently.
That and my darn inventory keeps resizing itself every time I open and close it. Kind of annoying. XD

I have the same problem. I think it could be caused by this new update (Attack on LA), because it’s never happened before.
same problem i have
Same issue here, four times in a row whilst pressing ‘Refresh’ tab on the LFG tool.
Same here. Seems like a lot of ppl having this (all?). Any official answer ?
Same issues here, and sent a error report.
I was having the same issue this morning. I crashed about 12 times back-to-back before finally figuring out I had to mouse over from the right to join a party without crashing. I sent in my crash log every time this happened, so hopefully that helps ANet debug it.
Same issue for me, and my girlfriend has the same to!
Getting worse – one crash after another. Somebody was on a spree: lfg crash, inventory resize, trading post dropdown filter do not close …
I have same problem
I’m getting this too. Can’t use the lfg tool at all. As soon as I click on any listing, it crashes.
Happens to me too but only in the AC section.I can use the lfg for the rest of the dungeons
+1
Hotfix, please!
But here’s my Wammo, so heal me maybe?
getting je same issue, always reproduced by
clicking lfg
choosing 1rst dungeon
Be aware that this also happens randomly while playing (not only related to lfg tool).
The recent update broke something, this is happening on 2 totally different computers at home.

Hey everyone. Thank you all for your reports on this issue! We’ve got a bug submitted which is under review by the programming team. That said, if you continue to run into this issue, please make sure that you continue to submit your crash logs, including any information you have which could help reproduce the crash. Some examples:
Did you click on a particular category which crashed you? Were there LFG listings in that category?
Did you type a certain character or word into the party window that may have caused it to crash?
Did Scarlet do it?
Additionally, it may be worth trying to add the -repair flag to your client shortcut and allowing it to check your .dat file for any errors. It may not address the problem, but only takes about 10 minutes to verify the integrity of your game data.
For Windows Users:
- Make sure you create a shortcut to your Gw2.exe file. This can be placed anywhere on your computer.
- Right-click the shortcut, and type " -repair" (without the quotes at the end of the Target line. It should look something like: C:\Games\Gw2Dev\Gw2Dev.exe -repair
- Hit ‘OK’, and run the client. It should automatically check and repair any damaged files.
- Remove the -repair flag once it has finished, then try running the client normally. If this does not solve the problem, be sure to provide as much information as possible in the crash window.
Worst-case scenario, we are aware of the issue and tracking a fix! Thank you again for the reports, and good hunting!
Did Scarlet do it?
Yes, this is definitely the cause. I’m glad you’re on the right track!
!!SCRALET DID IT!!
But yeah I got hit with this 3 times in a row, given up on dungeons for the day, will wait until tomorrow to get my pistol instead.
1. Happens randomly. It was CoF at first, then AC, then SE etc.
2. Repair doesn’t work.
This is what I get:
I*—> Crash <—*
Assertion: string
File: ..\..\..\Engine\Text\TextEncode.cpp(167)
App: Gw2.exe
Same. Happened twice when i clicked on AC.
I got this 4 times in row on TA and couple on fractals.

When i press “OK” i get this message “The name ‘path\Gw2.exe-repair’ specified in target box is not valid.Make sure the path and file name are correct.”
What should i do?

The name ‘path\Gw2.exe -repair
not
The name ’path\Gw2.exe-repair
there is a space
BUT it seems this doesn’t solve the problem
Crash upon clicking COF tab. Time and time again, no random work/not working. Crash on all characters , in all maps.
How does one destroy not one , but two mayor game elements (inventory) totaly unrealated to the living story in one patch ?
Thanks for the additional information, everyone. Scarlet has been convinced that the LFG tool is not essential to her plans. A fix for the crash is inbound, though it’s still up to you to deliver a message to Scarlet from the free people of Tyria.
Thanks again!
In case you were saying it was fixed: it wasn’t.

His post indicates that they’ve found a fix and it will go in with the next possible build. As no new build has been released yet, of course the fix isn’t live yet.
Yeah, somehow you are right. However, it doesn’t crash as often now
