i dont know how to feel about this topic. i can kinda understand ppl’s anger but im lost. i just crafted my howler literally 5mins ago, and i love it. main reason i wanted it was to pair it with frostfang and have the overlapping auras. but at the same time i absolutely love the addition they gave to kudzu. i was overwhelmed with joy with them. i never got to experience the old howler. and i dont know what i missed out on. what i do want is the starie particles that used to exist before

I think I’d be less upset if that was my main reason for crafting Howler. But I took 3 years to finally get a Legendary and its one that is hardly noticeable on it’s own. Yeah pairing it with Frostfang would look fine as Frostfang would be the main look with Howler supplementing it with the fog aura but what about those of us who only have Howler.

On top of that much of the anger was about the lack of communication and now that we are getting some real status updates I’m sure a lot of it will subside. I may even start playing GW2 as my primary game again.

Personally I want to craft Astralaria instead of Frostfang. I think Astralaria will go VERY nicely with Howler if the moon and sparkly effects come back.

my guildie just got her astralaria today, i can tell u now, its crap, the axe is buggy, the arm aura fades away very quickly, the footprints at times dont work, and the particles around the axe just feels off, it doesnt look right.

i can understand ppl’s anger about the lack of communication, i would assume its the same anger i felt when they disabled hom as soon as i got my points, then we heard no word for months, it was about 8 months before i could go bk in and claim my rewards. i really do hope they fix howler. my biggest problem with it, is the fact that my ranger 5 skill is louder than howler, the sound from that skill, dwarfs howler, which is really sad to see. i also want a more intense fog, its barely visible at times, i need to be standing still to get a full look at it

We had a fix go through internally on this on monday scheduled for the 12/15 release, but it was a partial fix and the tester failed it back to be looked at again by the developer, because well… partial fixes kinda suck just as much as not-fixed.

I could cry with joy. Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop, Lauren. I decided Howler is going to be my first Legendary, and I’ve held off a long time because of all the reported issues.

It was never intended for the Howler to have a day/night cycle. Thanks, ANet, for the addition.

Im glad this is finally be addressed.. I really hope they go middle ground with all feedback and make sure the moon is back AND a limited howl loop… (perhaps 3-5 seconds after using which is perfect) is added… Because just the moon back and glitter really isn’t enough IMO.. but im sure people will like it nonetheless. The best part and reason I made the Howler was for the looping howling at night after casting.

I hope this is the partial fix the dev spoke about… it looks like it’s getting close.. i see the wolf doing a second howl… man i really hope they work it good and make the Howl loop a few extra howls after using skills… because the subtle howl is so overshadowed by the skill sound itself..

wow im not sure but the latest hotfix it actually have a small howl to go with the animation of the moving head just by unsheathing (however subtle).. im not sure if this was added from this or I just didn’t notice it before but that’s awesome.. man if they can only make that howl randomly sound once every 15 seconds (perhaps sheathed or unsheathed) just to give it that wolfpack feel at night. but this is a vast improvement to before when broken. Reason having it sound ever 15 seconds or so is because while harvesting it goes off after harvest which is really cool and having that happen all the time would be phenomenal. (And the low howl is low enough that it isn’t obnoxious to others)

yep, the moon is back and the wolfs head moves back in a ‘howl’, though unfortunately the big mist wolf that appears on skill use does not appear if using a skill while moving

Thank you for the fixes The moon and moving head look awesome. I’d still like to hear the howl louder but it’s not a deal breaker by any means

As someone who made Howler as my first legendary and not too long after the death of the animations, I’m so glad to see that it’s almost back to its original glory. The one thing that I would love to see work its way back is the star sparkle that used to be around the horn at night along with the moon. It’s small I know, but it’s something that I really liked about it that got taken away. And louder howl sound would be nice too, but I’m good with what we got.
