I’ve been working out a few bugs for the legendary collections, and just wanted to let you all know how things stand. Assuming everything goes as scheduled, when Wintersday turns off (1/12) the following things will be in:

  • Dwarven Spell Trap: if you have collected all of the magics, but it hasn’t “charged” you can double-click it to charge it
  • Temple of Dwayna: there are 2 collectibles for capturing the temple of Dwayna, Malchor’s Notes (Bolt I) and Malchor’s Demise (Twilight I). Defending the temple will also grant these items.
  • Magnification Lens: Defending the “Gates of Arah” will also grant this collectible
  • Any collectible where you need to charge something at a place of power will now give priority to that over charging quartz. This wasn’t really a blocker, but it was pretty annoying.

Here are some things that I’m working on, but didn’t feel comfortable with my changes until I can get someone else to look at them. It has been a few years since I worked on events, so in the spirit of not messing up other people’s work, I’d like to get another set of eyes. There is a chance that can happen soon, and if so we could see these as soon as 1/12, otherwise it will take a little longer:

  • Branded Siege Devourer: it will take me much longer to untangle this event chain and figure out why it is stalling, but what I’d like to do in the mean time is add the drop to the Giant Branded Devourer in Fields of Ruin. Unfortunately, as I was getting that worked out I noticed that event only starts on another event failing. I’m reworking the chain slightly, but I need someone else to double-check and make sure I’m not breaking something else.
  • Hope IV: Risen Crystalline Phial: what I’m trying to do is make the wraith spawn more reliably, and without having to stall the event for a long time. Again, I just need a second set of eyes to make sure I’m not introducing new bugs.

Here are a couple of player questions with answers:

Can you please look at the Dune Soarer? This mob is a rare spawn in Dry Top, and its drop is required for the Kraitkin I collection. I have camped there for a long time (2h+) on multiple occasions next to its spawn point and have yet to encounter it a single time.
I looked into this! It does spawn every time, but not always in the same location. That being the case I’m not going to muck around with it at this time. If this continues to be a problem, or there is more to it I’ll take another look, but at least for the 1/12 release nothing will change.

Although I appreciate you looking into this. What about the numerous other instances in the game which have the same problem? Such as breaking the (almost never appearing) crystal prisons of the Shatterer.
Well, certain things take very little time to figure out and fix (like this issue) and I can squeeze it in between other things I’m working on. The Lyssa temple stuff is an example of a thing that will take me a considerable amount more time to fix, so I can’t just fit it in. The shatterer stuff is a further wrinkle, because anything I do could conflict or interfere with something that someone else is working on, but the crystal thing is getting fixed. I just can’t say for certain when the fix will be out.

Question: Are some of the current costs of specific items required in the legendary collection as well as going from precursor to legendary at the intended? we can talk about spirit wood and such, but those things are ultimately reliably farmable, that is, supply can be reliably and purposefully created.

On the other hand, the new legendaries require nearly 2 stacks of mystic coins (250 for one gift and 230ish for forging clovers), this is nearly 2 years worth of daily login rewards. The influx of these is hard capped per unit time.

Amalgamted gemstones have caused orb prices to go crazy. Orbs arent hard capped, but they are also not reliably farmed. 1 new legendary requires 2250 orbs/crests/doubloons, obviously with orbs being the most common. Currently the price of orbs has increased nearly 9-fold and rising. When they were 3 silver per orb, 27 silver for the orbs time 250 gemstones wasnt bad and some amount of increase is acceptable, currently, there are only enough orbs, crests, doubloons to make about 20 new legendaries, 24-25 if you include listed amalgamated gemstones. Certainly, there is supply not listed, but this seems quite low. By comparison, there are 19 sunrise on the TP. More items to make these gemstones or a more raliable way to get them would be warranted imo. adding orbs or bags of jewels to encryption boxes or something. I have other ideas to increase the availability of amalgamated gemstones but more involved.

On the other hand, I like that T5 fine materials were included in the blood/bone/etc gifts as opposed to strictly T6, however, their value is approaching vender trash.

What about a current bug preventing me from completing my “The Juggernaut 1” collection, where the escort izzmek event always gets stuck, therefore temple of Melandru never gets free’d from the Orrian corruption, So I cannot obtain the final collection piece “Ponder the Cleansed Melandru Temple”. I’ve looked all over and no one has said anything of the sort about this bug, except one bug report post that no one seems to be paying attention to.

I’m super curious about the price of orbs myself. I’ve watched them rise about 6 silver in the past week or so I’ve been trying to collect the darn things for my own legendary, and realistically I can’t imagine the price is going to peak at any point in the near future. The extreme cost of orbs alone and the very low drop rate is causing all three of the HOT legends to check in (currently) at around 600+ gold more to craft that the most expensive of the Tyrian legends. This doesn’t even take into account the time investment required to collect all the map currencies.

I imagine what is going to happen (very soon, I just did the math) is that jeweler’s ability to convert lower tiers of gems into orbs is going to become useful, but thats just going to make the price of luminous/incandescent dust and shards/lumps/crystals to spike up as well. Supply seems to be FAR less than demand and it is making it very disheartening to work on the HoT legends.

You say Dune Soarer spawns ‘every time’. Do you mean you can intentionally trigger this event?

I am at 12/13 of the Bolt II: The Perfect Sword achievement, and I am a level 500 weapon smith. One of the 12 collection achievements : The Art of Forging: Sword Hilt Edition should unlock the Balanced Sword Hilt recipe for me but I cannot find it. When I said I forgot how to craft a balanced sword hilt to a master weaponsmith he told me a weighted sword blade recipe has been unlocked. Can you please have a look at this bug as well? Lots of players have been stuck for months.

actually this has already happened. This, in conjunction with the lack of people doing AC has caused the price of incandescent dust to more than triple since release. Currently, incandescent dust is just over 4s while the individual crystals are roughly 2s. 4*5 + 2*2 = 24 silver, only slightly less than the sell price of orbs.

I do not intend to hijack this thread regarding prices as prices are not bugs, but I do feel that it will become an issue and that it needs some consideration. A part of the price increase will be currently due to wintersday consuming time rather than other content, but the trend was still such that supply was being depleted and not replenished, wintersday just exacerbated the issue.

I dont mind the increase in price over the old legendaries per se, what does concern me is items where supply cannot actually be created by the individual intending to make the item. Mystic coins and orbs are 2 big offenders imo, just in different ways.

[To Matthew] Also, lest I neglect it, I greatly appreciate the way you have jumped into this when you were given the legendary responsibility (pun intended). You quickly jumped into the pit with the forums and reddit looking for info on bugs and concerns about failing events and more. It was great to see the data gathering from player interactions rather than just sifting through posts anonymously.

I’m 94% done with Frenzy III:Rage. The Lashoosh bracelet is all i need left for this collection but the event never spawns. I was watching for a long time yesterday and never happened. I hope it isn’t too late for you to look into this one.

Yeah I second that. Trying to complete “Power over Barradin” in Nevermore IV, which requires the “Battle in the Vault” meta-event. It’s just not spawning and since Plains of Ashford doesn’t have world bosses or something that might help with spawning new instances, getting a new map is kinda hard. Nevertheless, been cycling through a few and no change. Event just doesn’t come up.

The Events aren’t spawning in Lake Gendarr. In addition, the wiki has little to no info

To follow up on “Power over Barradin” required for Nevermore IV: After getting into a new instance of the map, it took about an hour for the event to spawn. So it does spawn, but availability is something I feel needs to be look into. I estimate that it took me around 3-4 hours of trying to change the instance and just plain old camping at the location.

A similar bug to the Dwarven Spell Trap also exists for the Soul Battery Fragment. Once all souls are gathered, the energised soul battery fragment is not automatically unlocked and there is no other way of obtaining it.

I’m still stuck at 30/31 for HOPE III collection. Proximity Test : Fungus among us. I complete the adventure on silver and use the generator and nothing happen. This is becoming frustrating since I seem to be the only one having this issue and I have pretty much everything except this item to continue my HOPE.

I just completed this event, today. Post fix being deployed and did not get the collectible.

This could be for one of two reasons, either it was due to my inventory being full at the time of completion or that the fix was not successful. Will try again once its back up to see if its the former.

It’s a bug that occurs if your inventory is full. It will not go direct to inventory or appear as a lootable object in the world.

Hope IV Cataclyst Collection – Dwarven Spell Trap isn’t working on Karka Queen.

I’ve done it twice now, only to find out it’s account-wide per day. Kind of sucks to be locked out of any chances if your only one attempt bugs out. Unless you can still get it if you aren’t eligible for the chest.

Either way, twice now I’ve done it (On the same character which I will change later just in case) at the northern spawn point Kiel’s Outpost Waypoint, and not gotten the collection achievement. Did not go down at any point, and used the spell trap each time the bar was reset the second time, did not reuse it the first time but did not down that time either.

Just isn’t giving credit.

This please, its been reported a number of times, including your other, I’ll look into bugs thread. Please fix this soon, like seriously just add the recipie to the vendor for 0 karma since the dialog fails to work.

Nevermore IV: The Raven Spirit needs You to fight ghosts in Barradin’s tomb, Power over Barradin, ‘Show your power over spirits by defeating the Ascalonian soldiers of Duke Barradin’s army in the Battle in the Vault under the Old Duke’s Estate in Plains of Ashford.’

Against this from wiki is

‘The nearby event Protect the Containment Unit seems to be a pre event and has to fail in order for the ghosts from the containment unit to populate the vaults and trigger the meta.’

As this second event is trivial, and people won’t listen to you, the chance of getting the achievement is low. Something needs changing, simplest would be to make the event time based or include defending the Containment Unit.

This. This right here. I’ve been asking for more ways to get Mystic Coins since it was changed to daily login only. We get less each month now than we did when we had monthlies AND there are even more uses for them now too. Even with two accounts I don’t have nearly enough Mystic Coins to make everything that I’m working on.

Please let me buy Mystic Coins with Spirit Shards. 5 Spirit Shards for one Mystic Coin would be ideal.

PRISMATIC LODESTONES:

These items are Consumables, and indeed, double-clicking on one will cause it to be consumed. The problem is, consuming a Prismatic Lodestone does nothing for you except cost you an expensive Legendary component. Either make it a trophy or make its functionality more obvious.

Several collections require suffering Watery Death during the Tequatl Fight. Unfortunately, the community is so good about triggering burn phases that this happens rarely now — or, at best, unpredictably: you can do Tequatl daily for weeks without seeing it.

The obvious solutions each have an equally obvious downside:

  • Increase the chance of whirl pools punishes successful maps.
  • Apply watery grave without whirlpools, ditto.
  • Change the condition to something that happens more often during tequatl: potentially trivializes the requirement.
  • Change the event to something else: less fun than encouraging people to visit tequatl.
John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

The Meteorlogicus III has a bugged event, “Defend Ulfred while he creates the ice sculpture” is unaccessable because the event that is before it is bugged. Ulfred displays the correct dialogue but the “Collect magical ice blocks and bring them to Ulfred” event doesnt spawn.

Hello! I really apreciate the idea of crafting legendaries, but I’m tired of those bugs which doesnt let me end any of my dreamed weapons after of years of playing GW <3. For example, tier III of crafting a Minstrel (yeah I know is muuuch cheaper to buy it on tp) can’t be done becacuse of about six quest that can’t be completed.

That were : The Evening Song ( u get information about getting the title, but it doesn’t appear in log), Burisssons Ditty ( the dialogue doeasn’t appear), The Alluring Song of Meat ( same problem as Burissons), Ode to Mai Trin ( I tried to play on different instruments in few places, doesnt work either ) and I heard about few more problems with that tier

Please fix it fast as possible!

I thought it was absurdly low as well, especially compared to the drop rates of some of the other stuff you need, like the Boar Bristles.

On the other hand, I suspect that some of the collection items were meant to be harder than others. I got my red and blue ooze blobs easily, but the yellow one required quite some slaughter.

HOPE IV: Icebrood Crystalline Phial. This item requires a failed event. The event runs 10-20 minutes and is easily completed.

Suggested alternative: make it apply to all champ icebrood quaggans. There are plenty available at Claw of Jormag.

I’ve spent days of waiting for a chance to “cleanse the Cathedral of Zephyrs”. Ministerel II collection has a serious bug. After giving the NPC everything he asks for he asks for standard focus weapons again. He will consume them without giving you anything in return. Just wasted 5 stacks of t5 wood right now because of it. (Working on all 23 precursor collections at the same time, so I noticed that I gave him 250 Standard Focus before too late. All other collections dont have this problem.)
