Nightmare Breastplate Cant dye part of it
Yes! I have this exact problem on my sylvari warrior with my nightmare armor! However, after looking at your picture I have come to the conclusion that this “glitch” is actually a “feature” for sylvari. The un dyeable part of the nightmare armor matches your sylvari’s skin color. I’m going to go on a human character and test my theory.
edit: yup this only affects sylvari.

Well this “feature” is a bit obnoxious. And i defiantly dont want that color on it. I chose this ones as i liked it a lot more to the cultural coats. Since the fact is your pretty limited if you want your Sylvari to have plant looking armor…. Id much rather it be stuck black than brown. At lest black goes with more colors than brown.

WORKAROUND
- You can try removing the dye from the transmuted piece with the Dye Remover button.
- Save the changes with the removed dye and close the Hero Panel.
- Reopen the Hero Panel and then dye it to your liking.
This method should help you to now be able to dye your transmuted armor.
Some have noted that they needed to use Dye Remover on all items, not just the transmuted piece with the issue, for this method to work.

Did you try using Dye Remover on all areas of all armor, closing Hero Panel to save it all without dyes, then reopening and attempting to dye then?
Also, if you try to unequip the armor that won’t dye does your game crash or anything?

Afaik, you can’t change the colour of the glow on sylvari racial armour or the nightmare stuff, it’s linked to your skin colour and you would have to change that.

Don’t you think that would be pretty ridiculous and limit players in ways that anet should not want to limit them?
There are enough dyes that if someone wanted to match the skin color of their sylvari they could easily do it without the game assuming that’s what someone would want and just defaulting that to that skin tone.
It’s probably a bug, there seems to be A LOT of armor dye bugs atm relating to transmuted items that have gone unfixed for many months. I’m sure anet will get it fixed soon.
Yep, my sylvari is blue and I can’t change a part of the Nightmare Breastplate (stays blue), I’m not sure why is it like this. Would like a response as to why is it like this.
Sylvari armor is supposed to be grown from their bodies and so when its on a Sylvari, some pieces are locked into your body color by default. Usually around the beginning of the leaves, etc. as if it were natural foliage rather than fabric. All the cultural armor is the same way.
My Guardian is below. His armor is usually blue and white so you don’t notice it but as soon as I dye it a brighter color you can see the white edges. Natural part of the armor/playing a Sylvari who wears their ‘natural’ leaves.
