The map with the bugged event is currently the primary instance for NA servers. My home is Blackgate but that probably doesn’t matter.

Edit: I cannot determine which part caused the event to stall. The primary NPC (Maybri Shadowstalker) to start the event is inside Hunter’s Gorge, with the option to interact to start the assault, which does nothing.

Eh that new patch bugged a lot of stuff in the Silverwastes. For example while we were defending Blue Oasis yesterday there spawned 8 (eight!) Veterans with that orange Mark associated to the “Kill the Mordrem” Event. It was carnage having like 3 Trolls and Terrathingies… I was so busy surviving I couldn’t get a screen… Even better: They stayed when the “Defend Blue Oasis” Event occured but lost their orange mark. Needless to say we couldn’t hold that keep ._.

…I think you should take a look on your new scaling and stuff…

Edit: Readon I mention scaling is because we were like 6-8 people. The amount of mobs spawning there on tier 2 was excessive.

I think the map mentioned in this post has changed because the map I am currently getting to is IP = 64.25.38.100:0

The event on this map is stalled with the Charr NPCs in the middle of the Kraal. When I talk to Maybri and offer to join the attack force nothing happens. I am willing to taxi the krewe into the map. Just whisper any of the 8 characters on my account.

I have been repeatedly doing this event since the Treasure Hunter achievement came out. I have seen the event stall when players have tried to talk to Maybri before she reaches the other NPCs and occasionally when the NPCs die while the players kill the first 2 champions. Another problem seems to occur when both the Charr and Vanguard events are started and they reach the Kraal at the same time.

I am pleased that you are looking into this problem because I really want that exotic bunny at the end of the event. Thanks.

Problems I have encountered with the Foulbear Chain:

1) the event tab actually saying ‘Ogre Wars’ is not appearing (thus not knowing what’s happening).

2) Bloodgorge Watch Camp being overrun with ogres, and no event starting to take this back (checked on this several times, in a spawn of at least 5 hours this event did not start).

3) Maybri Shadowstalker not spawning after retaking the camp

4) Maybri Shadowstalker has spawned and has the yellow round event indicator is above her head, but speaking with her does not start the event to attack foulbear.

5) after 3 and 4 no event is happening for the ogres to take back the Bloodgorge Watch.

6) Supposedly Foulbear has been killed (guessing here, because of 1) ), and no event starting to reset the chain.

In addition to this:

7) Maybri being in the ogre camp near foulbear. No quest indicator above her head, but if you talk to her she will give you the quest to “take down foulbear”. However, the event to destroy pet huts and ogre house will not start.

Hello everyone! Thank you all for taking the time to post on the issue and follow up with more information as new instances of the issue arise! Our QA team is continuing their diligent hunt for the root of the issue, and while the symptoms are clear, the exact causes of the problem(s) are not. We’ve also been tracking reports of the issue on external forums, though have not been able to reproduce the issue with information provided here or elsewhere.

We would like to invite anyone who experiences this issue to provide details here on the official forums which may help in the hunt. Please consider including the following when posting a response to the thread below:

HeaderThe fundamentals…

  • The Main Details: Try to include the following details at the top of your report. This helps us quickly identify the important details of the issue:
    • The IP Address of your map. You can get this by typing /ip in your chat window.
    • The Map / Location of the issue
    • The Event Name (when the event stuck)
    • Your character info (Character Name, Level, Race, Profession)
    • A screenshot clearly highlighting the issue (this is probably less useful here, but it’s good to get into the habit of good practices)

BodyThe details…

  • Be Specific: Try to cover the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the stuck event? Where did it get stuck? What were the conditions present leading up to it getting stuck? Which NPC’s are causing the trouble? What were players doing at the time (was someone spamming an NPC? Did another event kick off?)? Now is the time to go full-on Marjory Delaqua and start putting the puzzle together. Remember to only report facts and be descriptive.
  • Be Descriptive: The more information you provide about what was happening, the better! Did an NPC teleport from <point a> to <location 2>? How many players were present and scaling the event? Sometimes the simplest detail can be the key to the entire puzzle, so be descriptive! We aren’t always there when the event breaks, so we rely on you to explain what happened when it did break.

Hello Evan! I know this isn’t exactly a post meeting your format requirements. Not sure if the Reddit link posted earlier in this thread is one of the external sources you looked at but I couldn’t describe it better than OliverTan has. I definitely recommend you to take another look at it.

TL;DR:

There are multiple facets of this chain event that are bugging out. Resurrecting Slashclaw, Maybri and the two NPC’s individually bugs the event (they need to be resurrected at the same time). Commander Neal bugs out if his conversation gets interrupted. After this Maybri can bug out if people interact with her before Slashclaw finishes his walk. Last but not least, Finley can bug out permanently if she dies during the Foulbear Kraal assault.

Have you guys ever just considered making some minor tweaks to this chain and the dredge commisar as well. Since you cannot get to the root cause, and there are multiple bugs that can occur with Ogre Wars. The last 2 times I was trying to do it this week, maybri bugged each time, the people on the map had to wait to fail the defend event at bloodgorge to restart it, and lead the other npcs back that accompany maybri, to their fort…this was just utterly ridiculous to go to this lengths.

On the other side, when I use to run this chain every night, I did the vanguard side, and this would also bug out half the time, mainly with Captain Gregory stalling halfway and not moving.

On a sidenote last 5times I was in dredgehaunt, commisar would not pop.

Can you guys just rework these events so we can avoid all these useless and bugged npc’s, after all this time and you still cant fix them…just change a few things…

O god where to begin, it can bug on so many points… But this time…

o Charr forces: Slashclaw, Maybri reached middle of Foulbear Krall with no problems.

o Vanguard forces: Didn’t reach middle of Foulbear Krall. Captain Gregory got stuck mid-way there, he can still move and attack NPCs, but won’t move to middle point of Foulbear Krall to trigger conversation between Shlashclaw and himself in order to trigger “Destroy Foulbear Kraal before the ogres can rally”.

o From what I have seen Captains Gregorys waypoint after " Assault Foulbear Kraal by killing its leaders before the ogres can rally” is buged. So if someone does Vanguard event chain it will bug the entire event chain.

o This bug occurs ONLY IF event " Capture Bloodgorge Watch" is done 1st and attack starts on Foulbear Krall while event “Kill the ogre leaders of Sapper’s Delve and hold the hill” isn’t completed OR if vanguard forces arrive into outer south Foulbear Krall after event “ Assault Foulbear Kraal by killing its leaders before the ogres can rally” is done.

At this point I want my luck drop so I would never have to show may face to that event… Its even hard to describe my hatred for the one event chain at this point.

Not exctly the post you expect, but according to wiki Ogre wars dynamic event chain should restart in ~20mins after completing one.
Spent ~50mins on the map (near Bloodgorge Watch Camp), the whole time there’s no status about event (wiki says it sometimes dissapears).
Extra detail – there’s Ash Legion Spy [Merchant] in Bloodgorge Watch Camo, that activates “Talk [F]” meniu on the screen if you get near, but the trading window doesn’t open. NPC just says one of the phrases “Walk softly”, “Keep your voice down” etc.

Currently bugged on .38.154

Maybri and crew are inside. No quest icon over her head, but gives the option to join forces. Clicking does nothing.

Finley at the SW bridge into the kraal. No quest icon over her head, but gives the option to ‘countme in’ – clicking does nothing. Captain Gregory dead way inside near the POI. See screenshot.

Since you guys can’t seem to figure it out, how about putting in a failsafe? If none of the events have completed in 15 minutes, everything is forcibly reset back to the beginning. No individual event takes more than about 5 minutes, so if anyone is actively doing it, this wouldn’t interrupt them.

Hunter’s Gorge, Fields of Ruin
Ogre Wars, Charr and Vanguard forces are assaulting Foulbear Kraal and its leaders
Maybri Shadowstalker is just chilling in the middle of the ogre camp, which means she isn’t moving back to her position in the charr camp as to reset the event.
I wasn’t here when Maybri bugged so its one of two places in the event: either she bugged during the event between kill the beastmaster and destroy the ogre housing; or after killing the Ogre Chieftian and she decided she didn’t want to walk all the way back to camp. I’m submitting this same report with screenshot in game hoping that you can reset this IP or do something about this.

sadly, i wasn’t there when the event stalled. i’ve tried to learn as much as i could about the event chain but i haven’t found out at which point it’s bugged right now.
maybri’s standing in hunters gorge atm and she’s providing the dialogue to join her force (see screenshot) but nothing happens when chosing that option.

i already checked for events at the north- and southcamp and i also revived all charr that i could find in hunters gorge. one of them’s standing outside the wall though.

hope it helps. i guess i’ll be online for about another 60 min. so if one of your devs sees me online, he/she could just whisper me and i’ll try to help as much as i can. (i guess i can’t help much apart from serving as taxi as i didn’t see how the event stalled…)

Map IP 64.25.38.135:0 has been the only map that I have gotten in over 3 days for the Fields of Ruin. The Ogre Wars event has been stuck with the the Charr NPCs in the Kraal for that time. They should have marched out of the Kraal at the end of the event and that seems to be the cause of the event not resetting. Normally it would reset 20 minutes after the completion.

If you can not fix this event quickly I hope you can at least force a reset of the event or move us onto a server where it is working. Many of us are trying to complete the Treasure Hunter achievement and this event has one of the items for it.

I wasn’t their when it happened, but Shlashclaw looks bugs, she is repeating the same line over and over again(look at screenshot for it), basically it got stuck before“Assault Foulbear Kraal by killing its leaders before the ogres can rally”.

Funny thing is ogre now keep on spawning and attacking Shlashclaw, so technically if you got bored of life you could farm light treat bags

Funny thing is Sam is not even near worth 400g… at best 100-200g since its rng item… but since it bugs on regular basis..

It just got stalled within 5 minutes of the game update today. Apparently, prematurely destroying the north gate of Hunter’s Gorge before the NPCs could advance to it will stalled the whole meta event.

Ehhh I don’t know at this points should I be laughing, are anet given up on this event, can it even be fixed… I have heard this even has had problems since launch and people have been reporting then heavily last 3 months…

So I think this will be my final post for this bug….

  • Event is stuck at “Ogres control Bloodgorge Watch and Sapper’s Delve”.

So basically even to recapture “Bloodgorge Watch” can’t be triggered, since Legionnaire Riptooth doesn’t spawn, their are some random NPCs fighting ogre in the camp, but they shouldn’t be their.

About Sapper’s Delve…. Game is saying its under ogre control, but vanguards are their, defense event won’t trigger or the capture event…. Capture event won’t trigger since vanguards are still their. Defense event, because Commander Neal has despawned or died and isn’t in the camp.

Hope one day this will be fixed as for me time to get my self a late expensive present…

Could you please not include drops from known bugged events to achievements? Its ridiculous. This meta event has been bugged – and known about all those issues – since the start.

Also… event not even spawning anymore on: 206.127.159.134 (waited 8 hours, finlay just stands there see screenshot)
Event not progressing due to Maybri not starting 2nd event on: 206.127.159.155 (that server probably got closed again)

This is… well, as I said… ridiculous.

Sorry if that has been stated before.
Have seen that stall a couple of times, what i got is that the bug seems linked to Maybri Shadowstalker being downed, if she got downed the event seems to stop even if she get ressed.

I support the idea that

  • Any events tied to collections and/or traits and/or achievements should be prioritized for review and modification (including bug fixes).
  • Such events, especially those tied to event chains, should be setup to work as consistently as Arah temples, World Bosses, and other collection/trait/achievement-related events. If necessary, put them on a full reset timer or a schedule, so it doesn’t matter (as much) if they stall midway.

Sorry if that has been stated before.
Have seen that stall a couple of times, what i got is that the bug seems linked to Maybri Shadowstalker being downed, if she got downed the event seems to stop even if she get ressed.

There are a lot more ways it can break than just that. All of this is detailed in the reddit post mentioned above. It also includes ways to fix some situations.

This post is now 4 month old and I’m sure, there are other and older posts about this bugged event chain. Sadly, I’ve never heard that anet has done anything to fix this, nor has the anet employee checked back on us…
Some of us (including me) have posted information here but nothing happened.

arena net, please fix this and please speak with your community!

I’m sure there are plenty of players that would be glad to help fix this and provide there experience with the event…

In any case, an update from anet would be really nice!

So this week the event has been bugged multiple times in multiple places. I’ve been submitting bug reports through the game including the ip and a screenshot of where maybri is getting stuck on the charr side. It’s incredibly frustrating as we spend more time running around to see if the npc’s are stuck somewhere instead of doing the actual events. It would be nice to know if the bug reports through the game are actually doing anything. I know the maps do get closed from time to time, but I don’t know if that’s a result of the bug reports or not. If you want to see how these events get bugged, hang around in fields of ruin for an afternoon, I’m sure it’ll get stuck quickly.

I do understand it’s never a quick fix to debug stuff like this, and it seems that the workaround for now is to just wait for a fresh map to spawn if the npc’s are permanently stuck. Knowing there’s at least some action on it is appreciated. I’ll just keep submitting those bug reports for now when they do get stuck.

Actually a lot of the time the reason for the chain breaking early on is that the npc’s don’t reset properly from a previous event, and when the events start up again they aren’t in the correct position to continue the chain. I don’t know if eliminating the first part would make a difference if the npc’s just continued to stall in weird places.

NPCs can break the next event if they are down before the event succeeded. It happened to Scholar Brogun at the Frozen Maw and Historian Vermoth at Temple of Dwayna before until it was fixed.

The same fix needs to be applied on the NPCs for Ogre Wars, even on the last event, where we attack vet ogres and the final boss and cannot keep an eye on the NPCs because they’re far back from the event. Last thing we know the events will bug out if the NPCs don’t walk back from Foulbear Kraal.

Sometimes I wonder maybe the terrain level is one causing the bug. Like npc path finder not working with so much hills and object at that area (more like thief proffesion Sb #5 skill not working at certain path.)

The problem with this map is that no one knows that to do.
Example being: Doing the Human Pre events. As soon as Finley leaves the camp, people leave her by herself so she ends up dead (Which bugs) the event.
Escorting the Charr to the gate and killing the two champs? If the NPCs die then it bugs.
The human side is the one that I find that bugs the most so would it be easier to remove it from the rotation or make it its own event?

I can’t give a “soon” on this one, but it is being looked at and the problems were identified and repro’d by QA. Once the bugs are written though it’s out of my hands until a fix is delivered to us for testing.

This chain and a few others that come to mind are a bit fragile and the team might opt for a better, but more time consuming to fix, solution. On our side we spent the better part of several months tracking this down this issue (and other meta chain bugs) from threads here, other forums, the wiki, and on live by debugging the chains that are stuck.

I wish I could give you much better news, but I also don’t want you to feel like you’re shouting into a void.

Any chance you can tell us of these other meta chain bugs that you’ve been trying to reproduce the bugs for (and whether or not you’ve gotten them written off for fixes)?

Personally, I’m really hoping that the Devouring the Brand meta in Iron Marches gets a fix. I’ve never been able to experience that chain properly. Don’t think anyone has been able to.

I did just last week. If I had known I was witnessing a miracle I’d have taken some mushrooms beforehand.

Why don’t you change the chain events ? Delete the npc. Or give Sam to everybody.

There are some events that still don’t work after month, or years … like the 4 merchants in the bloodtide coast, Krewe leader Dobbs …
