Options reset every time I log in
It was fixed for me but today’s patch made it bug out again.
64bit client, windows 8.1.
I did not have this bug since the patch went live, but since last nights hotpatch this bug has occurred, so you seem to have broken some players games with that hotpatch.
I run the x64 client.
Win7 32 bit client
I run the game on a limited user (I’m not the admin)
My option/inventory panel didn’t reset the first relog after today patch, then it kept resetting every log attempt as in past days.
Still happening for me as well. Last night I tested a logout/log back in and settings persisted. Logged in today and everything reset again.
Windows 7, 64-bit client.
Could we have some details on where this data is stored – is it client side or server side?

I’ve always ALT+F4’d out as a matter of course and this bug is affecting me still as of last night’s hotfix.

The problem seemed to have disappeared for a few sessions but it just came right back.

I think it is unacceptable that this bug has not been hotfixed yet. The settings on all of my 30 accounts keep resetting and it is making me furious.
Windows 10 64bit – 64bit client
Options and bag settings reset every log in for last couple days. Extremely annoying!!
Windows 8.1 64-bit OS
Sorry, folks! I did look for a thread, but was so excited to be able to tell you this was being worked on that I just didn’t see this thread. Doh! I also noticed the issue after the build and sent over an e-mail (after verification from a team member).
TL;dr — a fix is being tested and will roll out as soon as it’s verified!

Your settings are stored in a file in your computer, it’s a file called Local.dat usually located at C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2 (on Windows, no idea about Mac). Deleting this file will erase all of your settings and put them back as default.

Just to clarify, there hasn’t been a patch for the client today. But yeah that last patch didn’t fix it yet either. At least they do know and are working on a fix. I think the reason general options are affected and not graphic settings, for instance, is because graphic settings are saved in a xml file now.

Thing about that is, different usernames logging in on the same computer can have different options set (easily explained in that it saves them all in that file per login sure, however…), I had gw2 settings after original release persist across computers. It was very annoying to have graphic settings all on high/ultra on a laptop that was only using integrated graphics >.< Took a while just to change the options, and that actually changed my graphics on desktop after I got it fixed… Now graphics are kept separately in a xml file in that folder.
Some of the settings were server based, some may still be. Most likely this whole issue is client based anyways, with no difference between 32/64 bit (as they are really the same client just compiled with different options.)

That makes sense. However, other options like Sound and Keyboard shortcuts aren’t also affected.

Yup, possibly some settings can persist due being server based, then I mentioned the settings are stored in that file but it’s possible not all them are in it.
Recent patch didn’t fix the bug. :/
Edit: Also, bag settings are reset (highlight new items, hide bags)

“…Just started seeing this yesterday…” WHAT? This has been going on since you dropped the main update.
Win 7 x64
x64 Client
I think I may have found a way to get this to work and keep the settings within the options. At least it has worked for a few repeated logins for me just now.
1. Browse to your C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
2. Right-Click and select Properites on the GFXSettings.Gw2.exe (32-bit client) or GFXSettings.Gw2-64.exe (64-bit client) and make sure the Read-Only attribute is NOT set and Click OK.
3. Start GW2 and login, set your preference in the Options, close the Options window and re-open.
4. Use ALT + TAB to switch back to your Explorer window and make sure the GFXSettings file for your client version has not had the Read Only attribute set again.
5. Close the Client and then restart and your settings should have persisted.
If this still fails repeat steps 1-4 but at Step 5, try logging out then immediately log back in, recheck the Read Only attribute is not selected on the GFXSettings file and then you should be able to close the Client without losing the settings.
I hope that helps both the Players and Devs alike and for greater visibility I have also put a post up on Reddit here:

Windows 10 with the free upgrade from Windows 7 pro 64bit (not a clean win10 install), playing on the PC client.
Resets on my both Win10 64bit and OSX 10.11
I’m now getting this bug too. I saw it on Reddit a couple of days ago and thought “I’m glad that’s not affecting me.” I logged in fine this morning, all settings remembered, but I’ve just logged on this moment to find all of my general settings reset. I did nothing to my settings this morning either during my play time or before I logged off.
32 bit client, 64 bit windows, etc etc but this seems to be randomly effecting everyone, regardless of client and operating system.
Same here. Huge issue for this sort of game. Please quickly patch.
This stopped the glitch for me and it seems to be saving my settings for the last few logins.

Still not working for me
Windows 8.1 64bit, GW2 64bit, started with day 2 update, not fixed with day 3 update, really frustrating.
Minds are like parachutes, they only function when they are open!
I’m still experiencing this bug (win 10, 32 bit client).
NSP – northernshiverpeaks.org
Still not working, and its not a permission problem for me either.
As long as I dont log in another account or restart my computer, settings are staying as they are. Only after restart / account switch do they reset.

Windows 10, 64 bit client.
Every update yet didn’t fix the issue.
At least you keep having work for yourself. After every patch, some more patches and fixes to fix the patch. GG
Latest path *caused* the bug for me - it was fine before then
I’ve had the same problem since Tuesday on both my laptop and desktop.
I first noticed that my general setting were reset after installing the first build update that was released after Wintersday update. I believe it was around 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. PST.
My laptop and desktop are both running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and using the 32 bit Guild Wars 2 client.
Latest patch caused the bug for me – it was fine before then

Still resetting for me.
Still happening Windows10 64bit client
Happy Holidays, everyone!
Just to check: Has this bug been totally fixed, or not?
Should I still keep doing charter select & log-out, instead of Exit to Desktop?

I haven’t experienced it anymore, than I would say it’s fixed.
I know that this post is 9 months old but I am still having this issue only in the graphics section. I custom set everything under advanced options (which looks like this) but every time I log in it nearly reverts to the lowest settings possible
I do not know why or how but it would be stupendous if they remained where I placed them
