I suffered 32 bit game issues and now 64 bit game issues.

Seems like maybe Arena net is broken.

How the hell is Arena net saying 64 bit client is better when they do this.2kbs patch download.

I won’t recommend this game to anyone in the next year that’s for sure.

32 bit client is broken for some people too, the game won’t start for me after patching so I’m waiting for the 64bit to download 23mb at 2kbps to see if that works :/

Apparently it’s not downloading the patch at all on 64bit client.

Yup, sorry 64-bit client is not patching. That 1k or 2k a second is probably the error code – it’s never going to finish! We’re working on fixing it.

Anet is responding here, I guess they are working on it. We will have to wait unless you want to run 32 bit client

You are not downloading the actual client at 3 KB/sec or any speed. What’s happening is your client is making a request to the server, which is responding with a 404 Not Found error

So basically the 64-bit client has not been uploaded to the content distribution server yet.

The amount of KB/sec you are seeing downloaded is the cumulative 404 error responses you are receiving, none of which corresponds to the actual executable. This the patch might be only 24 MB or so, but if you leave it going at 3 KB/sec and reach 24 MB, you still do not have the patched exe.

l can confirm by packet capture that the 64-bit client is not really downloading anything despite the apparent and slow progress of the download counter. The client GET requests are all being answered by a “404 Not Found” response from the CDN server.

someone on the forum said the patch has 23MB, but im at 31 now and still downloading…how big it is 4 u?

But apparently the Devs aren’t posting anything on this forum… Only Reddit.

Really what are these forums for if they only update anything on Reddit omg. Oh well. I’ll see how long it takes. Going at 5kb/s it has to end sometimes. Ye for unlimited bandwith

New build available just now, 64-bit client patching again normally for me.

Fixed! Some poor guy is at the office all by himself in the middle of the night.

confirmed. after updating one more time using the 32 bit client the 64 bit client works again.

An earlier poster in this thread said “Edit: Finished at about 23,000. So, not too big.” So I’m confused… I’m also at 14,000 and counting, and was hoping it would be finished in time for the next Frozen Maw, as that’s the daily event.

This does seem a bit of a mess.

I physicaly can not get the game to patch… its downloading at 3 kilabytes per seccond… it got to like 160 thousand kilabytes and just kept going… is something going on with the servers?…. i have 60 meg per seccond internet… i’ve done speed test 2x and it shows 60 down/10^ so its not my internet… i have a gigabyte windforce 980 TI, amd Veshira 8 core 4.41 ghz processor… 32 gigs of ram, and GW2 is installed on an SSD… i’m on windows 10…

i’ve tried rebooting my pc, my router, disabling my anti virus, and nothing is working…

Fatmancantrun restart the client. It was just fixed for some of us (read the other bigger thread on it).

Now it’s working again.

Hey guys, found a workaround to get the patch for 64 bit client from reddit, here are the steps to get it working

- Open the command prompt (start > run > cmd)
- type nslookup followed by assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com (right click paste to paste the domain name as ctrl + V won’t work) make sure there is a space between nslookup and the domain name
- Hit enter and note the IP it gives in the cmd prompt
- Right click your GW2 64 bit exe, go to properties
- on the target line, at the end of the line put -assetsrv followed by the IP from the command prompt
- Your target line should look something like this > \Gw2-64.exe -assetsrv IP

Make sure there is a space after exe and after srv before you add the IP
- Click apply, close and launch GW2 again, it should now patch properly for you

The reason you use the command prompt to get the IP is because the IPs for the servers change continuously or something (not sure, didnt read the reason)

Note you won’t be able to download the patch at 1-3kb/s because according to DrStephen on reddit -

Meaning right now it’ll run endlessly and you’re not downloading the patch, its just repeating an error code attempt.

kitten YOU ANET…don’t let Consweila near the server farm with the lemon pledge… my 64 bit wont patch faster than 3 kb per seccond… cmon guys you can do better than this :P

God kitten it kitten it kitten it kitten it. I have been so angry all this time. I have restarted my client literally half a dozen times and have told myself that history has told me that it is not me, but ANET and I still behaved as if it was me and not ANET. God kitten it all to hell Anet.

Of kittening course it works THIS time when I restart. And no, I don’t think it makes everything ok that it FINALLY succeeded in downloading when I have spent the better part of 3 hours wondering what the kitten was the problem. Then people are posting in the forums all nimbly bimbly about how “oh no problem it finally worked after this restart”.

There’s no need for a workaround. Anet already resolved the issue 15+ minutes ago. I’m running the 64-bit fine now.

so will it be safe for me to close the download and restart it and pray it will download at my 8mb per sec usual speeds?

Does anyone know how big the patch is? Someone said 23,000 earlier, but I’m at almost 25,000 now. Should I just go ahead and stop and dl again now that there is a fix to this?

Yes, I just closed my download at around 18,000 – and restarting GW2 gave an instant jump to the log-in screen

And it is NOT my connection. I work in IT, thx, I know how to test it, the connection is just fine. OTHER internet applications run just fine, laying the connectivity issue squarely at Anet’s doorstep.

Restarted the download that had been running for 20+ minutes (closed client, restarted) and it’s working now.

How does an “issue” like this even happen? Procedures not in place to stop this from happening?

Issue is back. I just got kicked from the game when I zoned because of a new build and when I tried the launcher…,I ended up with 1kb/sec then the loading screen stopped and lost server connection and got dumped to desktop.

I am using the 64 bit client and in order to get this patch to load. I ended up having to not only reboot my pc, but I used the 32 bit client then switched to the 64 one to log into the game.

That worked…but it appears that there is still an issue.
