I tried this kitten thing twice now and still those npcs will not follow. Treherne follows just fine. Very annoying to say the least.

Last suggestion I can give, until it has been fixed, is to play with a friend or partner up with each other. Send each other pms and time it. It may work, it may not. I have no idea. Doesn’t hurt to try. I’m on most times evening if you want to give it a shot I can bring my thief. Til then, gl.

Latest patch notes (14th Sept) suggest this is now fixed – can anyone confirm?

They’re just deploying the patch now. Will have to wait.

Just tried it. Still borked. The researchers did not follow me to the exit.

Still broken despite the developers update notes… Same issues & a funny little blooper of a N.P.C. character in the group that’s 100% missing except his green name. You can most likely see it by the broken chest thing on the right side where the group is standing idle refusing to move.

Still blocked, when you get to the south exit of the cave. Oddly, the earlier blockage unstuck itself when we ran around and killed things. I still consider it bugged, though.

I finally got through this mess! I did what SlimGenre suggested above. Also I skipped some spawns by climbing some fallen wall before that first arch you fight under. It’s on the right, next to that Asuran you can revive. Talk to Trahearne then take a few steps back on the path and you should see it.

Still bugged they refused to come to the check point. Very Disappointing

5 times later and still not sorted, i love this game but its starting to give me a hate towards it, really needs to be sorted out!!!!

So far, the problem doesn’t seem to be related to Treharne anymore, but the Escort the Researchers to the South step, since they refuse to move, ever.

I just did “Forging the Pact” quest and it’s still bugged. I have killed all the mobs and I have rescued the researchers. I escorted them to the southern exit with Trahearne but the gate is blocked where I am suppose to exit. I thought I read somewhere this quest was fixed.

It is bugged for me too. Second team which I need to escort to cave exit just stands in place and doesn’t follows me, though Trahearne followed me all the way to the end.

I’m not sure if it is bugged or I’m doing something horribly wrong
Personal story event “Forging The Pact” seems to be bugged
the start till the point where I find the second research team go well, but then the second team doesn’t follow me so I can’t progress the event
only treharne and the first team follow me, but when I go to the exit with them it’s blocked by some wall of bones and nothing happens
the only way to pull the team from the place I found them is to bring a mob close, they rush to fight it but as soon as it’s dead they go back where I found them

I have had this problem since September 10th. The quest is fine until I get to the part where you have to escort them to the Southern gate. Trahearne follows me around fine, but everyone else is just standing in the cave, where you first meet the second research team.

I was really hoping they would fix it in the new builds, but so far, two builds past and still not fixed.

Nope. Broke in the same spot. 2nd research team will not follow me.

Sept 14th Update states : Fixed bugs in story chapters “Forging the Pact,” “Battle of Fort Trinity," “The Ghost Rite,” “On Red Alert,” and “Tower Dow”

well… im stuck at the last gate 2nd team wont budge and now I’m “stuck”. looks like I’ll have to restart this one.. ugh

I am having the same issue as the previous post. I rescue the second time, then head to the south gate with Trahearne, but nothing happens when I get to the marker. The other NPCs besides Trahearne do no follow me.

Just tried now. took an hr to get to the end and the 2nd group of explorer’s wont follow. I even spent time climbing up outside of mountain to get to the cutscene star. This didnt work either. Really wish it is fixed when they say fixed. But i know they are working very hard, so it will be fixed soon. Biggest priority will still be hacked accounts.

I completed this quest today on my second try. The first attempt I let some researchers die as I was working my way up the cave. When I had gotten to the escort section the NPCs didn’t follow me. Upon restarting the mission I made sure to keep all of the researchers alive and I was able to complete the quest. The Risen Grubs are also buggy in this zone. They shift back and forth frantically.

I trying complete most terrible dungeon in the world after you saying you fix this story and… i cant complete it!!!! Now researchers dnt follow me!!!!
And no support in this game atoll. I thinking you win nomination in “most terrible support in MMO” >.>
Guys this is not low cost indie game, if you dnt response yours customers – customers dnt response to you in future.

I think that people now deserve that with the new fix comes finished story so we can go further and not go back in order to finish this one that we ran through so many times, and spent too much silver on aswell. It would be nice if some of dev’s would finally respond to these posts already and do something about that point of interest that is stuck because we cannot progress with storyline. I am not happy to spend another 1,30 h just to test if it bugs again….

Still bugged. Game locked for me when I got to the end of the cave with Trahearne. Had to CTRL-ALT-DEL and kill the process. =*(

This is so stupid. I don’t mean to be impatient, but c’mon. At least ANet can say they’re working on it. I’m here wondering if they even know wtf is going on.

Doesn’t work correctly Only change is that I can now lead the team about 10-15 steps down the road before they bug out and refuse to move. x_x … Though I am very curious to see what exactly is bugging out script wise if it’s in the npcs or or an event not triggering properly or broken coordinates for them to walk on o.o

Still bugged! 2nd group of researchers won’t follow. Something really needs to be done about this! Don’t tell us it’s fixed until you know for sure, just wasting time/silver over and over again. Completed this up until the “south entrance” part about 8 or 9 times. Feel cheated.

The key: Do not allow Traherne to die.

@ Julian, All eight times i have run this he has not died once or have gone below 50% hp.

I am getting this bug as well. I read about it and some threads say you have to not let any of the NPCs that are working with you die. I have not confirmed, I don’t want to run this quest again.

Also have this bug. Will try running it again but it’s really irritating that it’s at the very end of the quest

Still bugged, the researchers will not follow at the final part. Really not looking forward to doing this again >.<

multiple topics exist about this quest being bugged. Has also appeared multiple times in the update notes as having been fixed, including the most recent patch notes… So absurd..

Same, Research team wont move. really annoying this is the 3rd story quest in a row that had been bugged for me and that ive had to wait to get patched. yet even after patches they are still bugged. I can understand the trading post being down but glitches blocking game progress is really frustrating

Just tried to complete this quest and it is bugged and won’t activate at the south gate. Trahearne follows but no one else.

Probably would be better off just deleting the thorn gate thing and setting the trigger to Trahearne so we can at least finish it and move on x)

Grrr still bugged for me too, after trying the suggestion above about moving slowly i still can’t get the researchers to follow me, just Traherne, so can’t progress. Pretty annoying.

Incredibly frustrating as I made it through the mob respawn bug which made progress extremely slow.
