By saying it is ‘obviously a bug’ shows you don’t unerstand it is working as intended and it is not a bug. And then you suggest it should be nerfed, by it’s removal.
I have always been able to use pet to heal myself in a downed state as well allowing pet to finish the attack. It is, after, all a trained LIVE animal working independently, not an illusion or minion.

I’m not sure how this is a bug. If the player starts the pet attack before being downed, then the pet will do it, as long as it’s not interrupted; the player going down doesn’t and shouldn’t stop it.

It has always been this way and is part of playing the duality of the Ranger/Pet. They’re a separate entity you have to control while you’re playing and that doesn’t fly out the window just b/c you’re downed. IT IS YOUR COMPANION! There are even traits that improve pets when you’re downed!
Players are able to pet swap and use their pet skills in downed state.
Regardless of if this is or isn’t overpowered, I feel like this is an oversight and should be altered to maintain uniformity between classes in down-state.

Having the ability to pet swap and execute pet skills essentially puts two additional skills into the hands of every downed-state ranger — One for each pet.
While that may or may not sound fair to you, I want you to realize that it is an unfair advantage that the ranger has over all of the other professions in the game.
In addition, this oversight can be used in conjunction with traits which lengthen conditions, essentially allowing for some pretty unfair downed state fights.
(I’m talking about wolf fear and the pets which apply immobilize)
And Again, it appears only to bother you. I’ve been playing a ranger for over 2 years and this has never been considered a problem before( that I can recall) and if it has it’s been dismissed since it is still working as intended.

ultimately this goes back to the fact that downed skills are broken. I have an 80 of every class, i started with main ranger. Downed skills should not be class specific and all skills should be disabled while downed except for the downed skills. The downed skills should be identical across all classes. an attack, an interrupt, and a self heal. done all downed problems fixed for all areas of the game.

The op started off with a badly concieved and ambiguous post. Generalities contribute to confusion and misunderstanding(like “nobody cares about” who can speak for all???? Some do!!! lol).

“Unfair” is an opinion. That’s like saying I think warrior’s vengeance is an unfair advantage that the warrior has over all of the other professions in the game, or that eles downed state 2 is unfair because they can move into water or into keeps when they’re downed in WvW.
Every class is different. They all have different skills, strengths, and weaknesses. If you want a game where every player has access to the same exact skills as the next, GW2 isn’t for you.

Imagine a scale where the abilities you have in downed state all have a weight.
The ranger’s downed state would weigh more than all of the other classes, hands down.
That is why it is unfair.

Nothing better than doing my interrupt in downed state, using wolf fear, swapping pets, using my dog’s knock down, then having my pet rez me at such great speed that it can almost out heal two people DPSing me down.
It’s completely not fair compared to other downed states but I hope Anet doesn’t nerf it because ranger is one of my favorite classes.
