Removed particle effects?
Who knows, I really hope it isn’t intended as my mist pistol has become completely worthless to me.

Just logged in to say the same thing. My Reavers of the Mists now have no particle effects when sheathed, so no trails when running, they just kind of pulse from visible to invisible…
I really do hope it’s a bug because they just look terrible now. =/
I know, this is freaking me out. I worked so hard on these weapons SOLELY for the crazy glowy particle effects, and now they just look like plain low level skins.
add me to this list of freaking out., casual player who will never get a legendary, worked since launch to get the vision of the mists for mesmer, got it last week, and now looks like crap skin GS until you unsheathe…. please fix it.. the sheathed particle effect was 1/2 the reason i got it…
Same issue here, my vision of the mists no longer has any particle effects when it’s unsheathed.
same here. its really hard for me to play this game. really. I would love to enjoy the new content but all my eapons look horrible now. and its the same with azureflame and other weapons. not only purple mist weapons.
hope they fix it or change it again!

Foefires Essence has lost its distinctive glow as well. The price varies but people have paid up to 700g for a cool looking weapon and now it’s flat like any other weapon. If this is not a bug I am going to be very upset. I would like a quick response from Anet.
In addition to the particle effects, Vision of the Mists is also missing its signature double hilt. I am taking a break from the game until this is fixed. Time to play something to doesn’t take hours and hours of my work and throw it under the bus for no reason.

they really have to explain the whole thing. I dont understand why they dont give a short comment on this thread
There is now a growing thread in general on this. You might want to follow it in both places to see if we get an Anet response. If they say it’s a bug, it belongs here, if not then the PR event can occur in general.
If this is not a bug, I definitely petition that it should be reversed – these hidden visual patches are very disappointing lately. It severly devalues a skin that either (a) players spent time/money to gather all the crafting materials and ectos or (b) spent gold to buy off the TP.
I definitely feel like the 600 or so gold I spent to buy the crafting materials for my Aether is now gone to waste without the beautiful visuals of the weapons when they were out of combat/unsheathed.
ANet – please reverse this!

The bow Aether is having the same issue and had its visual effects stripped from it while stowed.
Jason King posted his response just before I got my issue up. Thanks Jason, we look forward to the weapons having their visual effects restored.

I feel compelled to point out that he didn’t say it was unintentional…
I really really hope it was unintentional, and i hope the fix is quick. Its not exactly fun to look at your character that you worked very hard on and have all of your weapons look like starting weapons.
As for Foefire weapons, please keep the new effect when unsheathing (the burst of blue flame)! I also really appreciated how you guys fixed the chain on Foefire’s Essence so that it’s in the proper spot now and not too large.

As far as I remember, my Aether used to have that burst of blue flame when unsheathed even when it was still glowing on the back of my thief. Maybe not all of them had it? I definitely know my Aether did!

Hm I’m not sure if the GS had it before. Perhaps it’s more prominent now since it doesn’t glow when sheathed.
When I enter a zone for the first time and unsheath Aether it does the flame burst, but after that it doesn’t do it anymore. Is this for anyone else?

You know what? Actually, I was wrong – the Aether did the flame burst upon weapon swap whether it was in combat or not since it was always glowing in the first place.

After the new patch, Foefire’s Essence chain broke again
And it is now “Pale” again. Did they just revert the changes?
Please, it was fixed, why did it have to break again?
And now it is also broken in Preview Panel…
They just restored the old files because that quickly fixed the mistake that was broken in the attempts to fix the weapons in the first place
Ah that’s very disappointing.. just checked myself and the unsheathing animation that I was so excited about also disappeared. I hope it’s going to be added back at some point because now we know that it’s already available.
well this morning, i noticed vision of the mists was finally fixed, didnt have 2 hilts anymore,. and the wall of the mists finally had the correct textures, now after another patch today, the sword is glitchy like it used to be and wall of the mists has texture corruptions again

And then people come along and flame that their double hilts are gone… THAT IS HOW THE WEAPON IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK. Its not that its supposed to look buggy having 2 swords.
And to those who flame because of the missing glowing effect while not weilding it:
It is supposed to be like that! If you don’t weild the weapon, its totally fine that the particle effect is not present. When you take out the weapon the effect is present.
Just the way it was supposed to be changed months ago.
So please Arenanet stop listening to flames who just want their weapons to glow like the freaking sun and start fixing the skin bugs with the weapons.

No, they reverted them all. They did it fast because they did not intend to remove the particle effects. The fixes will come back I’m sure.
well hopefully they can sort it out and get the particle effects working on the fixed vision and wall of the mists, the double sword model and texture issue on the shield annoy me to no end

In my opinion, the weapons should remain the way they are as this is how they have been advertised since launch. People have spent many hours gathering materials and gold to have a flashy weapon and would like to keep what they intended to buy. If this was not the intended outcome, then it should have been made clear much earlier in the life of the game instead of just changing it to not glow.
I know for a fact that if Aether was not designed to glow while on the back of my character, I would not have spent that much time and effort into creating the bow.

Yea but I also expected that the chain hanging from my sword isn’t always floating in the air and sticking straight upward. I’m sure they’ll fix it in the future but just saying… right now there are still a lot of problems with these weps.
I don’t care if they intensify the glow effect or nerf it.
But this kitten double sword glitch is a glitch and has to go. I have no fun at all playing with this sword having a double hilt tumor on the sword. This weapon was never advertised as being glitched intentionally!
I don’t understand how ppl can call glowing on a stowed weapon a good thing. Unused weapons should be calm, like AC Weapons. But nice, because of ppl whining allot of good looking weapons are broken again, including vision of the mists. Its not suppose to be 2 blades overlapping, it does not look cooler this way. It looks sloppy, broken. Like Anet don’t care. The glassy shiny, borderline invisible look when it was stowed was awesome.
And how do we know the effect is suppose to calm down when the weapon?
Look at weapons like ghastly weapons, several legendary weapons etc etc. I think its sad that their so called fix actually “re-broke” weapons again. Sad!
