Hi,
Can you please make an option in the chat Report function for Gold sellers? None of them fit the activity exactly and let’s pls make it as easy as possible for people to report these.

I’ve also noticed the same names spamming across multiple days, indicating you’re not getting them out as fast as some of us (me at least) would like.

Please do more to get these people out of the game!!

Why is “spamming” not a fitting description for goldseller spam? The meaning of spam is not restricted to frequent repetitions of particular words/sentences, it can also refer to advertisements that only get posted/mailed/shouted once.

Just like you do not need to get 10 mails urging you to buy certain “enlargement medicine” before you consider it to be spam, it is spam even if you get only one of those mails….

Youtube “L2villagejester”.
People using belittling wording like whining/qqing" are not taken seriously by me
Same for people posting only to tell others not to post (“deal with it”-posts)

Spamming and/or botting is a perfectly fine descriptor for these gold sellers. Anet investigates every report so it isn’t as if the descriptor is a big deal. As long as the report gets to Anet, they’ll be able to banhammer these people eventually.

I have received several in game mails from gold spammers and am grateful AN has added the options to report them. However, I do believe I’ve seen one name twice now and wondered if those names we report are put on an individual “ignore” list so that they cannot send more spamming mails to me.

How is AN handling this behind the scene? Are you able to place a block on that name so that they cannot contact me again?

According to Dev Tracker: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/devtracker

They are as concerned about gold sellers as we are and will investigate the reports on an individual basis. It’s gonna take some time to take care of all of them, imo.

I think it should be different because I think that a player being silly or stupid and spamming is WAY different than a hacked account botting/spamming. There really should be a different option for “gold selling” bot does not fit because you can not SEE them botting, you dont know for a fact that they are and scam doesnt work for the same reason.. they might actually be a gold seller that wont steal your account…. I hope that no one tries but it doesn need to be clearly defined and for now the only one that does so is spamming

Spamming is the valid option for reporting thsi, aldo it would in my opinion perhaps be easier for Anet if reports regarding gold sellers come in under a separate header. Still for now just follow the guidlines as stated in the above linked posts i guess.

There is a security oversight on this reporting function. Right-clicking on a chara name in chat and selecting “Report” pulls up the account name (rather than the chara name) in the resulting dialog.

This might seem fine (“We’re only reporting scammers here; what’s the big deal?”) but this can be abused for malicious intent.

The only people who should be given the account name in this case are the AN GMs, not the person reporting it, otherwise crackers will use it to identify the account name behind a character—it’s just too easy.

You know that you can see the account name just by friending a person, right?
