The official wiki states that the 4th bonus of the Superior Rune of Vampirism is bugged.
(1): +25 Power.png Power
(2): 15% chance to cause your next attack to steal health when hit. (Cooldown: 25s)
(3): +50 Power.png Power
(4): Your next attack after using your healing skill steals health.
(5): +100 Power.png Power
(6): You become mist when you fall below 20% health. (Cooldown: 60s)
Bug:
When an armor piece is damaged and then repaired, you must unequip all armor pieces and equip them again otherwise the 4th bonus will not work. You will no longer see the Leech indicator.
I see from other threads that this has been bugged quite some time already. Does anyone know wether this is fixed in a patch/April’s Feature Patch?
I haven’t noticed any issues with it on my elementalist. Seems to apply the buff correctly after using a heal skill.
I didn’t use vampirism prior to 4/15, so I have nothing to compare to there.
Looks like it is still broken.
1) Went down to Cursed Shore with armor fully repair and #4 working
2) Get killed
3) #4 no longer working
4) Fix armor
5) #4 still not working
6) go to character select and back, working again. Didn’t try unequipping and re-equipping everything.
Okay so this is really odd…
I just tested this two ways:
First test – Jumped off a cliff to my death. Waypointed, used heal skill – no buff. #4 apparently not working.
Second test – Walked up to a champion to let it mow me down. Waypointed. Used heal skill – again no buff. Fought a random mob, after which I used a heal skill again, at which point the buff did appear.
I’d logged to character select between tests 1 and 2. Didn’t shuffle equipment or anything else during test 2.
Why the inconsistency?
Edit: Further testing post death, the buff – and presumably the life leach on attack – DOES sometimes work, but it’s incredibly inconsistent. (Out of six heals, two gave me the buff)
Tested theory to see if it was still functioning but only while in combat – didn’t notice any correlation.
Either way, this is definitely bugged in some fashion, and probably not working as intended.

I might get the chance today or tomorrow to test it out myself since they’re incredibly cheap anyway.
Just noticed. In Team/Solo Spvp if you unequipp the vampire rune and re-equip it DURING the 9 second game start time, it generally works for the round.
