There is a bug when it comes to the rewarding of the completion of the Southsun Guild Rush. This is related to the Overflows in that if the rush has been started in more than one overflow, and the first one started has failed, then the following rushes afterwards will not reward Guild Merits regardless of the completed state of those rushes. A new rush will have to be started over again if one seeks to earn the appropriate amount of Guild Merits.

Just something to keep in mind when coordinating with guild members in starting missions in South Sun. The workaround is to ensure that all participants are on the same overflow before starting one.

Also: if players who have completed the Guild Rush after the announcement failure has been made in the chat window, then those members will not be eligible for Guild Commendations.

Clarification: Let’s say the guild participants of the same guild have somehow been split into two Overflows: O1 and O2. O1 starts their rush five minutes before O2. However, O1’s rush has failed to have 15 people cross the finish line. That means participants in O2’s rush will not earn their guild commendations if they crossed the finish line within the last five minutes of their rush.

Sounds like working as intended.

Well, if it’s “working as intended”, I’d say it’s one of those odd anomalies in the Guild Mission control system. Oddly, it seems anyone in the guild can go up to the flag and start it instead of just the officers, at least that’s what it seemed like when the officers on our guild’s Mumble server were wondering who started up and no one stood up and said anything.

Honestly, I think the guild log should also list who hit the start button on the banner as well as the one who hit the Activate button in the Guild UI. That way, if it’s not an officer who started the 30 minute timer, at least we can easily rectify the situation. For now, no one’s saying anything which leads me to believe someone in the guild doesn’t want to take responsibility for their actions. Of course, that’s a totally different issue all together, but I’m just saying that starting up the same guild event on different overflows could cause anomalies in awarding the appropriate rewards for guild members and even the guild itself.

I made a suggestion a few days ago:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Guild-Bounty-and-overflow/first#post2039002

Feel free to extend it to also includes guild rushes.
There are plenty of maps to choose from that are not in overflow. To avoid bugs and unneeded higher difficculties, just let the game ignore activity’s that are in overflow maps when selecting them.

I should clarify my statement as my response was a little to simple.

A guild should only be allowed to receive credit for one guild rush per guild rush activated through the guild window. What I mean by this is that a guild can’t use overflows to infinitely create guild rushes to rack up merits.

The current system’s safeguards were working as intended. The guild started the guild rush on one overflow and that’s the timer used to determine the results/rewards of the event. When the timer for the rush started first ended, no rewards were awarded from that point on to the other started rush.

What I suggest that Anet do is to link the timer on all overflows. They obviously share the same timer internally so why not graphically show it and end any rushes started after the first one when the first one ends. In order to deal with the tiny overflow problem, just share the results of all open guild rushes activated by the guild across overflow servers.

Just came across this myself, very annoying that the chest couldn’t be opened. Complete waste of time
