The Trading Post Lies!
*cracks fingers*
There is a 5% listing fee, taken when you put the item up, and a 10% sales fee, when the item is sold.
There are also approximately 5,624 other threads with this exact conversation. Perhaps you should try looking around instead of posting an entirely new thread and doing all of the work that entails.
…
6g90s68c
5% listing fee : 34s53c
10% sale fee : 69s07c
6g90s68c – 69s07c = 6g21s61c
6g21s61c – 34s53c = 5g87s08c
Another use thread.
Thanks for the answers, however I didn’t need to be verbally assassinated with the comments ‘another useless thread’ and ‘perhaps you should try looking around’ – those comments don’t help me at all, and I really don’t need your sarcasm – I deal with enough of that on a day to day basis in real life, and I wasn’t attempting to waste anyone’s time. I don’t have all day to search the forums because quite frankly I see more than enough bugs everyday that aren’t fixed and don’t have time searching for threads that may or may not already exist.
I just wanted an answer, and I was frustrated as to why I was making a loss and needed to know why this invisible tax/fee was not shown in the listing fee. Now that it has been explained, I understand.
If ANYONE, Arenanet should have included this extra fee in the listing fee (perhaps with some brackets explaining the additional 10% fee which was so clearly excluded here) instead of making everyone second guess as to where the extra cost is coming from. Like Da Sonic says, if there are 5,624 more threads like this, you would assume that this trading post bug needs fixing as soon as possible and should be a high priority because players like myself may unknowingly be losing money.
Players should not have to assume where this invisible fee comes from (In this case, there was an additional 10% I did not know about, heck, it wasn’t even included in the ‘listing fee’ so how am I supposed to know this? I’m not a mind reader Anet). It was bad enough today getting umpteen million ‘error selling’ messages in the trading post just trying to sell some items I had in my bank.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience, I won’t make the same mistake asking for help ever again. Perhaps Anet needs to fix things like this to stand a chance at being the ‘best game’.

I think it would be fair to put the “search the forums” replies on hold for the time being, seeing as the forum search is bugged itself.

I much like that phrase, “verbally assassinated”.
Anyways, I meant no disrespect, I was simply trying to offer an alternative. As someone who also spends a lot of effort on threads I make, I try to look around for similar ones before I embark on those journeys. I just feel like spending 5 minutes browsing through the Game Bugs or BLTP forums would have been a lot simpler than the 30 it likely took to get the thread together.
Heck, even use the Wiki. Ingame, a quick type of “/wiki Trading Post” gets me to a page that explains the entire thing.
Could I have been a bit more tactful in my comment? Sure. Could Anet have shown the fees in their Trading Post better? Sure. But it’s all said and done, and I’m just trying to help people learn to answer their own questions. It’s actually much faster and convenient for everyone.
in all fairness people, this search function is so completely useless im not sure why it is even a feature.
search these game bugs forums for “trading post” and you will get 0 results.
FYI I have yet to see anyone on the planet have a decent search engine in their forums so it’s not just GW2.
I’ve used it before – it only showed the x most recent results but it DID return results. Then a few weeks ago it stopped working at all.
Anyway, you’re better off using google to search the forums, but not everybody goes to such lengths.

Actually, people deserve the “assasination”

3rd line talks about the fees. Even if the search tool does not work, if you’re not smart enough to go through the first 3 pages of the bug subforum to check on that bug that just started to happen to you… you can still check the wiki.
Lot of important bugs are being buried under the flood of useless threads like this.
