when i press create in the menu the screen goes black and i can see the cursor and music playing ive reinstalled the game repaired the game updated my graphic card and looked all over the internet nothing

just tried changing my graphic card settings still nothing

Same thing is happening to me. The game runs fine when I play an existing character. I saw another post a little earlier and it seems to be happening to a few other people as well.

yes i am having the same issue and i submitted a ticket for it as well so we will see how long before they decide to do something about it ….

I just bought the game and downloaded, as soon as I went to create a character my screen went black any ideas?
I could still see my cursor though

Same thing happening to me. I can’t create a character atm.

Just bought the game nad have played for 3 days. From the first day it started to give me black screen, with music and cursor. i can press f11 and f12, alt+tab out of gw2 and it reponds to alt+f4… ive tried everything. Repair, re-install, fixing gfx driver, changing settings, running full screen, windowed-mode and so on… and still, it goes black. sometimes i can play for 5 minutes and sometimes over an hour. Wonderful game but this kind of sux…

Ok I am also from Darkhaven and have been having this problem as well for a while but I just fixed it. The trick to get the guesting thing to reset is that you not only have to say you are ‘guesting’ for a different server you have to actually hit ‘play’ while guesting and let the map load for one of your other characters. That seemed to confirm the guesting pass or whatever, and now my character creation screen seems to be fine. Hope that helps!

This had worked for me you might want to try it if your still having the problem.
