Hi, I’ve downloaded the 64bit client and have done everything that was stated in the post, but it seems that I always have to redownload GW2 whenever I run it. please advice on what to do.
Don’t start the game directly from your temp directory, but save the client into the
directory where your GW2 is located.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Is the download website down or something? I’m trying to download the client but when I click to download it just loads forever and doesn’t do anything.
For this 2 week, i have been having connection issue when i am loading a new map or when i am switching character, randomly i will get the connection error with the game closing or sometime kicking me to character selection screen.
No crashes on 64 bit client so far, but I do get weird frame spikes on a regular basis on busy maps (mainly WvW). The game will continue at a steady 60fps, then the screen will freeze for approximately 1/2 second. This will happen every minute or so. The 32 bit client is not reproducing these artefacts.
Win 10, 64 bit.
AMD crimson 15.11 driver
Fury X
intel 6700k
8Gb ddr4 ram
When is this coming out of beta? I’m not comfortable making changes to my directory. But every time I do the DS meta i crash right before the end and everytime i try to do my PS. I never experienced anything like this before HoT. It is very frustrating because I’m having a very good time.
We need some Anet follow-up on these 64-bit issues
First. A 64-bit client is offered as a fix for memory issues that should have been noticed with 32-bit testing before HoT release.
Next, I’ve read about issues with initialization differences between 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Why was this not noticed in more recent testing?
Now, the 64-bit client performs drastically different than the 32-bit client when processsing mundane updates. I reported this before and of course, no follow-up other than the bot-like response to run the game environment scanner. I know better that to expect feedback. It’s been a month now and the problem is still present.
I work in the programming field. You have had a VERY stable product until HoT was released. Your QA department needs to add more testing to your release cycle. I always liked challenge when programming for a job. But, when I want to relax with a game, I get annoyed to find repeated bugs that, I feel, should have been noticed by someone before we report it in the forums.
Please light fires, send up flares or whatever is needed.
It was released as an emergency beta to alleviate the OOM issues players were finding in HoT at launch.
Because it was a side release, it may not be part of the usual push to live proceedure meaning the 64-bit client isn’t guaranteed to be ready the same time on the CDN as the 32-bit. On top of that this patch went live well after normal business hours so it doesn’t surprise me that the 64-bit release had download issues.
As long as you keep using the 64-bit beta client since they “fixed” the 32-bit one a couple of weeks ago and as long as the 64-bit is still beta, expect more of this.
RIP City of Heroes
The slow download issue was only present on my Windows 10 system using the 64-bit client. My Windows 7 system downloaded normally with the 64-bit client.
I’ve only been hearing about the 64-bit client through word-of-mouth. I experienced the improved gameplay during extended sessions of HoT content play.
Can someone put a sticky in the forums about the 64-bit client and the related memory management issues so there is a definite place to look for official information ?
Maybe something about the latest connection issues could be said too . .
These communications should come from a ‘red-tag’ source, hand-me-down information is how these messes get started and keep rolling .
FWIW – “Reduced memory usage in the 32-bit client and the Mac client.”
Does not say, better use 32-bit instead of 64 because the 64 is not as well tested.
It also does not say, that the memory issue was fixed.
I would expect a beta release to also be your best work that has not been field tested.
Ping . . .
Where DO we post client errors. There is not single website or client mechanic for this.
Would upgrading maybe help my bad dips in FPS?
Looking at a wall I get 90+ but usually runs at 60-70 and if there are people ore great LOD distance I might drop into the 40’’s (happens OFTEN), worst part ate even worse at around 25-35.
Since I run witcher maxed out at 80 FPS I doubt that it’s my hardware, which BTW is:
i7 4790k @ 4,7 GHZ
ASUS z97-a
2x ASUS GTX 970 Strix
250 GB Samsung EVO SSD
You guys think this should help at all? :/
64 bit client not logging in after latest patch.
32 bit client works fine.
Up til today I have had no issues with the 64 bit client.
i7 860 @ 2.8Ghz
16gig RAM
Nvidia GTX 770
250gb Samsung 850 SSD
Game added to firewall and exception added to router.
I shall wait when it’s not in beta then seems to be buggy still from all the replies in here
Started on Jade Quarry since Launch now on Maguuma.
I downloaded the 64bit client yesterday and it has been working flawlessly. I was experiencing random disconnects at least twice a day with the 32bit client but ever since I started launching the new client I have had no such issues.

back after a while, Nvidia released drivers that recognize the 64bit client, but still it go only with integrated GPU..
so far i tried:
- changing game folder
- switching names between versions
- changed every single settings in the nvidia control panel [both global and application settings]
- starting the client with right click and “run with dedicated gpu”
- total uninstall [with a tool] of the nvidia drivers and the settings, ccleaner and installing new drivers
- right clicking, property and compatibility options on
- starting the game from the nvidia experience panel since the 64bit client showed there
nothing solved my issue, the game is still not recognized as something that should start with discrete gpu
i tried today after a while because i got the same problem with another game that gave me the same problem [beta as well]
i get a 7+ fps increase, haven’t tested the game extensively, i’ll try again doing lots of stuff tomorrow
but so far, so good.
I just added this and its downloading the whole game again, i even put it in the correct spot…
6 hours later and its still downloading GW2 again…. wish i’d never bothered, its in the exact right spot..

FPS is so bad atm on my 2 Crossfired R9 270s 2GB OC 1050Mhz. I am currently useing the 64Bit client.
So for some reason my 64-bit is repearing the data archive, and this is not the first or second time its done it today, it is the third. Please fix this
I get 60fps in small secluded places, but everywhere else, the fps is all over the place, and in major towns, it tanks to 20fps or less.
DXDIAG attached, quick specs here:
